The jubilation was wow, all the student of my college rushed to the field immediately the ref blew the final whistle, they lifted I, Charles, Mark and Akpan up in the air. At a point I was afraid as I thought they won’t catch me as they threw me up.


Mr Sam:” The deadlock have been broken, the Fisher’s have been fished” he said again .


Mr Kelechi:” Hmm, that was a nice play from the two sides, but I think Mr. Green’s college added more effort” he said calmly but who was listening to them?


Joy:” Issa Killer there” she shouted admits the crowd as she jumped on me. Thank God we were in the crowd, the authorities couldn’t notice us.


Joy:” Did you hear what Mr. Sam called you? A virus.” She said laughing and holding my hands.


Joy:”You are wonderful ” she shouted and hugged me again.


Me:”Thanks dear, you are the best” I whispered to her ear. I left her after some minutes to be with the guys, they were still jubilating.


Mark:” Hey gabi, you made the day” he said to me while I smiled.


Me:” Senior, let’s see” I said pulling him to a corner, I got important business with him.


===> The jubilation didn’t end on the pitch, we still went to school jubilate, we sang our school anthems all through the journey back to school.

Coach Theo:” Hugine, you are the almighty formula for this team” he said as I got down the school bus which conveyed us back to school.


Me:” Thanks coach ” I replied him.


Coach Theo:” You are really a virus” he said and I laughed to it. I alongside Akpan and Mark entered the school gate, some students were already in school, they came with the first school bus. I entered the class to take my bag which I left in school so that it won’t be stolen on the pitch, to my surprise Sandra was in class.


Sandra:”Nice Match Hugine” she said


Me:”Thanks ” I replied her as I arranged my bag.

Sandra:”Hey, what’s up with the attitude, why are you always frowning your face whenever you are with me?”


Me:”Maybe that just how my face is” I replied her trying to smile.


Sandra:”I must commend you are more handsome without your glasses” she said while I quickly remembered my glasses. I opened my bag again and took my eyeglass which I wore.


Me:”Thanks ”


Sandra:” Hi Charles ” She greeted while I turned back and truly Charles was just coming in.


Charles:” Sandra, how far ?” He asked as he also headed to his sit to arrange his stuff.


Sandra:” Charles, Come here ” she said, I was surprised at the way she said it in a command tone. I thought Charles won’t answer her but surprisingly he did.


Charles:” What is it?” He asked as he got to our side, I frowned my face in pretence as if I was still an enemy to Charles.


Sandra:” Dont worry, go ” she said while Charles nodded and left.

Sandra:” Gabi you see, that is what we call a gentleman” she said as Charles left while I shaked my head in more pity for Charles.


Me:”You know what? It amazes me the way you fancy your stupidity ” I said.


Me:”Dont think am a fool, I know you have been searching my bag for the audio recorder I took from you yesterday, let me tell you where it is, it’s in my drawer in my room at home” I said to her while she stood speechless. Of course I knew she would have tried to search my bag or maybe even put something in it, that was why I arranged the bag when I entered and there wasn’t any thing suspicious there. Wait!!!! What about Joy’s bag? Sorry, her bag has a padlock. Joy came inside the class like she knew I was thinking of her. It was now me, Charles, Sandra and Joy in class. I remembered what Charles told me, never to talk about I and joy issues whenever he was in class with Sandra.


Sandra:”Here comes your love” she said smiling as Joy walked in.


Me:” You better save yourself the stress, you wont get what you want. ” I said to her and walked out not without shaking hands with Joy but we didn’t talk.

====> Eunice:” I heard of you guys victory o ” she said immediately I entered the parlour, my mom was plaiting her hair as she sat on the floor.

Me:”Afternoon mom ” I greeted.


Mom:” My king, how are you?”


Me:”Am good. Eunice how won’t you hear when the gossiper Cynthia is at home? ” I asked her.


Eunice:” Nice one, congratulations. ” she said while I started bragging.


Mom:” You guys need to see me today, I was just whoa, I was just toying with the opponents ” I said.


Mom:” That’s my boy” she commended while Eunice smiled.


Cynthia:” Mom, it Is a lie, those people they played against can’t play” she said coming into the parlour.


Mom:” Even though they can play, you willl Still say they can’t.” My mom said smiling.


Eunice:” Ah mom take it easy, that part is paining me.” She complained touching a side of her hair.


Mom:” Did you injure there?”


Eunice: ” No, it just paining me.” She said.


Mom:” Gabi, go and bath, you look so dirty.”


Me:” Yes mom, ehen Mom, have the bank paid you guys your salary?”


Mom:” Yes, any problem?”


Me:” Am just asking because I want to buy something o”

Mom:” What is that?”


Me:” A labtop ” I said.


Mom:” Sorry dear, they haven’t paid us o” she said while I smiled.


Me:” Mummy, please now” I begged as I went to seat with her,I held her by her waist and placed my head on her shoulder.


Mom:” But what do you need it for now?” She asked.


Me:” For many things, please now.” I said pinching her on the left side of her waist.


Mom:” Stop it, I will see what I can do ” she said and I smiled.


Me:” Thanks Mom” I shouted happily.


Mom:” Now go freshen up ” she said and I nodded.

Desmond:” Mummy, me I want helicopter” he said, he had been sitting quietly all this while watching carton with Cynthia.

Mom:” my love I will see what I can do ” she said again and Desmond turned to Cynthia.


Desmond: ” Cynthia have already tell her o” he said.

Mom:” Wait, Cynthia so you sent him bah ”

Cynthia:” Oh my God, I swear Desmond does not have common sense.” She said and walked away to her room while I also went to freshen up.

=====> It was 8:19pm, I, my mom, Eunice , Cynthia and Desmond were in the sitting room watching film.


Mom:” But Guys what is happening Your dad have never stayed this long ” she said looking really worried.


Me:” Mom calm down, you know Lagos road, maybe his car is stuck in traffic.” I said


Mom:” His phone is also switched off”


Me:” Mom, you know when he is working in the lab he do switch off his phone. Maybe he forgot to switch it back when he was done ” I said just to console my mom, I was also worried.

It was now 11:15 pm, my dad wasn’t still back .


Eunice:” This is strange” she said, my mom looked at the time, she then went inside to get her car keys. She came out some minutes later, wearing a jeans trouser and a white top.


Mom:” Am going to look for my husband” she said as she made to go out but I drew her back.


Me:” Mom calm down, I won’t allow you go out by this time of the night”


Mom:” But my…” She tried saying but broke into tears, I hugged her as I was now also shaking.


Desmond:” Mummy, where is daddy” he asked looking away from the film.


Eunice:” Shut up! ” she shouted at him.


Cynthia:” God please save my dad.” She prayer out.

==> it was now 12:30am, there was no sign of my dad, Eunice and my mom where pacing down the room, my mom was with her phone trying his number again and again.


Me:” Mom where is dad ” I asked, I didn’t know when the words came out of my mouth, I removed my glasses and bursted into tears.

Mom:” Gab, dad is fine” she said also crying, Eunice and cynthia also broke into tears.
