“Blood of God” I shouted as I entered into the school toilet, it was the male toilet. It will be my first time of entering the toilet and what I saw wasn’t what I expected, the place was really messed up. ” Even k.g 1 student won’t do this now ” I thought to myself as I removed my tie and tied it across my nose. I poured the detergent into the bucket and opened the tap to get water from it. I off it when I thought the water was enough to dilute the detergent. I then used a small basin to fetch water from the bucket and the washing began. It took me up to 15 minutes to wash the boys toilet, the girls own was even worst. Mensuration pad could be seen on the floor, they were about three in number. ” if I die here, I didn’t die a good death. ” I said to myself again as I began washing. I used the broom to sweep the pad out of the toilet and then washed it. ” God please let Joy not be part of those doing this ” I prayed inside of me because I knew the magnitude of the swear I was about swearing for all those involved in this evil act. I finally finished my washing and then went to get parker which I used to throw the mensuration pad into the waste bin. I then went to wash my hands before heading to the class. The first person I went to was joy.



Me:” Do you use that toilet?” I asked while she looked at me confused.


Joy:” No, what is it?” She asked again.



Me:” Nothing, just asking because am about to swear for those using it now” I told her


Joy:” Why?”



Me:” I saw mensuration pad littered everywhere in the ..” I was about saying when she covered my mouth and bursted into laughter.


Joy:” You Dont mean it” she said admits laughter.

Me:” its not funny” I replied while she held her lips with her hand but bursted into laughter some moments later while I simply walked away.

The break over bell soon came and Sandra entered the class, I looked at her with angry eyes as she approached me.


Sandra:” What? Haven’t you seen me before?”

Me:” Let me tell you, this should be the last time you and Mrs whatever cross my path” I said.



Sandra:” And if we Dont, what will you do?”


Me:” Oh, watch and see” I said to her and shifted for her to seat.

Charles also soon came in, he turned and looked at me but quickly averted his eyes when he noticed I was also staring at me, I smiled at his behaviour and adjusted my glasses.


Sandra:” But you this boy, you got gut o” she said to me again while I turned to her smiling.


Me:” Sandra, have you guys not gotten enough, just leave me alone ”


Sandra:” Do you know it is an offence to hold you teacher hands in defence and even talk back at them?”


Me:” Ohhhh, I never knew. Maybe if that teacher respect herself, then she won’t experience such” I said to her again


Sandra:” Gabriel, let be….”


Me:” please just shut up” I said to her while she kept shut as if my words was a spell.


Me:” Good of you” I said again smiling and adjusting my glasses.

Master Theophilus soon came into the class, it was the maths period. Unlike the last time I saw him, today he was smiling happily.

Master Theophilus:” its maths time”


Students: ” Its Calculation time” we all responded.

Master Theophilus:” Good news, our new guy is back” he said pointing at me in a funny way while the class laughed again and then he started his class.

====> Me:” Akpan, how will I join the school football team?” I asked immediately after the maths class, our next teacher wasn’t around.


Akpan:” Can you play ball?”


Me:” Yes now, abeg, just tell me how to join.”

Akpan:” Can you play than me?”


Me:” Akpan!!!! Show me how to join first and then we shall see”

Akpan: ” OK go and meet the maths teacher, Master Theophilus, he is the coach of the school team”

Me:” You should have told me that all this while. ” I told him.


Akpan:” We train everyday after school in the school field at the back of th…”


Me:” Akpan, I know the school field” I cut him short sharply.

Akpan:” Oh sorry I forgot you knew”


Me:”Ok, no worries, I will go meet the coach after school”

Akpan:”why don’t you go now? He might be busy with us after school.”


Me:”OK then let me go” I said to him and walked out of the class in search for master Theophilus, I didn’t have to search for long, his class was nearby.


Me:” Good afternoon sir” I greeted as I got to his table, he looked up to me and smiled.


Master Theophilus: ” Yeah Gabriel, how are you?”

Me:” Am good sir.”


Master Theophilus: ” what brings you to my class today?” He asked still smiling.


Me:” I want to join the school team” I said while he smiled.

Master Theophilus:” Can you play football?”

Me:” yes sir, I can”


Master Theophilus:” What part of the field can you play?”

Me:” I can top strike sir”


Master Theophilus: ” Why does every striker in this school use eyeglass, Charles also uses glasses, same with Olu in the sss 3 class and now here you come with your eyeglass as a striker” he said while I adjusted my glasses.


Master Theophilus:” OK take this” he said passing me a form which I took willingly.


Master Theophilus:” Give it to your parent to fill, we need their consent.”

Me:”OK Sir.”


Master Theophilus: ” so I expect you to start training with us tomorrow.” He said while I nodded before leaving. ” so Charles also plays football” I thought to myself as I walked to my class. There wasn’t still any teacher in our class so I went to meet joy.


Me:” I have finally requested to join the team”

Joy:” Oh Good, I will love to see you play football.”

Me:” When do you guys normally do you tennis training?”

Joy:” Every Friday.” She replied smiling.


Joy:” I hope you bring good things to our school team o” she said smiling while I also smiled and sat down beside her, her seat mate wasn’t in class.


====> The walk back home after school was quite interesting, Bernard and Sarah also lives around my area so we walked home together. I was careful not to talk too much, I remembered on the day I was suspended, they were part of those that laughed at me, so I stylishly changed the topic anytime it was about I and Joy, we can’t tell who has an audio recorder in the pocket. We soon came to a junction and they parted leaving I alone to myself, the remaining walk back home was boring.

To my surprise my dad was already at home when I got home, he was reading a news paper.



Me:” Good afternoon dad” I greeted him


Dad:” Gabriel my son, welcome back” he replied smiling.

Me:” Dad, why are you back home this early?”

Dad:” Son, I can’t wait to give you the surprise I have for you, so I quickly rounded up from work so as to give it to you.” He said smiling while I also smiled.


Me:” Dad Dont tell me you have gotten me the new phone I requested for last month” I said smiling happily as I adjusted my glasses.


Dad:” My son, something more than that.” He said


Me:” A laptop dad”


Dad:” something more than that also” he said again while I cracked my brain.


Dad:” Don’t worry son, let me save you the stress” he said dipping his hand into a white nylon on the table, my eyes opened wide in anticipation..



Dad:” This is it” he said bringing out a rope from the bag.

Dad:” use it to hold your glasses” he said smiling while I adjusted my glasses as my happy mood changed to that of anger.
