Me:” Good Samaritan? How do you mean?” I asked her


Joy:” So you are the only one to help her abi? Are you the only one in the class? ” she asked while I simply smiled.

Me:” That was just an act of charity. ”

Joy:” That act of charity made me jealous ”

Me:” OK ma, am sorry. ”

Joy:” You better be” she replied me smiling while I also smiled and we soon started laughing.

We soon started chatting about the earlier incidence between Sandra and the inspectors, we made jest of her and we also mimicked what she had said, although in low tones. We had not talked for too long when Sandra walked into the class angrily.

Sandra:” That fool what me to just keep quiet, my parent must surely hear of this.” She said out loud to the hearing of the whole class. Some students laughed at it but to me, it wasn’t funny. What can her parent do that warrant the principal to start begging her not to report to them? Can they approve the school for waec and Neco? Certainly not.

I stood up and went out for break, joy did not follow me, she was with the “girls” gossiping about Sandra, we the “boys” Dont gossip.

I walked alone to the canteen and bought some fruits before picking a free table for myself but I wasn’t alone for too long, Akpan soon came to join me.

Akpan:” Gabi, our newest guy” he greeted as he drew a plastic chair for himself.

Me:”Akpan how far now?” I greeted him back.

Akpan:”Am fine oo, I came to talk to you” he started while I focused my eyes on him in seriousness.


Akpan:”hey, its nothing serious ” he said calming me .

Me:” Am listening then ”

Akpan: ” why Dont you just let Joy go? ” he asked while I smiled, he must be another Mrs Jagun’s investigator.

Me:” I Dont get you ”


Akpan:” I know you get me, I know you guys are dating, so Dont try pre…”


Me:” What exactly do you want? ”


Akpan:” Gabi, I like you personality and every other thing about you, I Dont want you in trouble. That woman Mrs Jagun can get you if she wants. We are just in sss 1, and it won’t be nice if our education stop here, Mrs Jagun got all facilities and people enough to get you. So please, leave Joy for now and be free ” he said


Me:” Akpan, am sure you are one of Mrs Ja..”


Akpan:” Gabi, you can think what you want to but be warned, they are like green snakes under the green grass. They will get you ” he concluded and stood up after taking one from my oranges. Yeah, I decided to buy oranges today in memory of Joy. I watched Akpan walk away and I simply hissed at him. He got no evidence of I and Joy and am sure all what he want was information, they think I Dont know them. I s----d my oranges as thought about Akpan words, truly I have to be careful of them.


Joy:” I thought you dont like oranges ” she said as she stood in front of me, I didn’t even notice when she came into the canteen.

Me:” Just decided to try them today ”

Joy: ” I saw Akpan with you some moment ago ”

Me: ” How did you see us ”

Joy: ” I escorted Mary to her sister class in the primary session and I saw you from their window ”


Me:” Do you think Akpan could be working with Mrs Jagun? ”

Joy: ” I can’t tell because Akpan himself is one kind of a cunning guy. ”

Me: ” He came to tell me to leave you alone ”

Joy: ” Dont mind Akpan, that how he do joke ” she said laughing

Me:” He wasn’t joking ” I said with all seriousness.

Joy: ” Just leave him alone, he can’t do any thing. ”

Me:” OK of you say so ” I surrendered as we switched to Sandra’s subject again and soon students started turning to is as the canteen was full of our laughter.

I didn’t wait for the break over bell before going back to class, I left joy behind since I knew she was going to take time in the canteen, she normally waste time with her Oranges. I sat down on my desk in anticipation of the break over bell, I was happy Sandra wasn’t in class, I hate troubles. Akpan words still rang in my head, ” I should let go of Joy”. I was about putting my head on my desk before I felt a hand touch me,it was Charles oluwafemi, the class quiet boy, he was looking handsome in his specks. He smiled at me and I smiled back, he then sat on my table with half of his butt0ckz.
