Secondary - Season 1 - Episode 25

I completed my dressing by putting on my glasses,today is the day the inspectors are to visit my school, Mr. Green Academy. I had ironed my uniform the previous day, I made sure the gators are sharp like that of a razor (just exaggerating). I remembered the previous day incidence, Mrs Jagun car had passed I and Joy as I escorted her home, I just hope she did not see us. As usual, I silenced my phone and kept it under my pillow. I closed my door behind me as I came out of my room, I headed to the dinner and took my breakfast of braed and tea, I then hugged my mom and Eunice before finally leaving the house for school. I walked as slow as possible as I could but all the same, I still got to school. It was just 7:10am when I arrived at school and to my surprise, the school was already filled with student. I also noticed the repainting of some buildings and repairing of spoilt door,all these are just because of the inspectors. I walked to my class and saw more surprises, the marker board have been changed and some sits also replaced, the arrangement of the chairs have also been changed. Mrs Jones was sitting on her chair at the back of the class and marking the register, it had never been marked since I arrived the school. My classmates were looking so smart, joy was putting on the school hat, it fits her perfectly with her well ironed shirt and skirt. She also had on a black canvas to match her black socks. Sandra also wore the school hat, she also added the school’s Cardigan to it. She also had on a black canvas and socks. The boys were not left out, Charles was looking so smart and handsome in his uniform, His specks also made him more handsome. Goddy the class most dirty boy seemed to be a bit neat today, his uniform although not that neat was still manageable. Mrs Jones closed the register and rushed out of the class with it, probably heading to the principal office.
Sandra:”Good morning, I will greet you if you Dont greet me” she said the moment I dropped my bag to seat down.
Me:”Good morning, I also had the intentions of greeting you” I replied smiling at her but she didn’t smile, she kept a straight face. I opened my bag and brought out my assembly note, it was about ten minutes more to assembly. I was wrong, the bell rang immediately I took out my note from my bag, the students who had wrist watched on them like me showed surprises on their faces while those who had no wrist watch walked out thinking it was the normal time for assembly.


Me:”Why did the bell come so quick today?” I asked her as we stood side by side among the crowd walking out for assembly.


Joy:”is that how you say good morning?” She replied my question with her’s.


Me:”You should greet me first” I said smiling.


Joy:”For what?”She asked again while I simply increased my pace and walked ahead of her, I was not in mood for any argument that morning.
What was held that morning should not be called assembly,it should be better term “rules and regulations for inspectors visit.” The principal did not even allow us sing the praise and worship, he just told us to say the lord’s prayer and he started his talk about the coming of the inspectors. He spoke on that for about 30 minutes before finally asking us to march to our classes, he stopped the students who weren’t looking neat enough as they marched in, Goddy was part of them.

The whole School was quiet, we were all following the principal’s instructions, he had asked us not to make noise as the whole class would be punished if an atom of noise was made in that class. Mrs Jones for the first time came to stay in the class, this also prevented us from making noise. Joy could be seen bending her head, she was reading a novel. The English teacher entered the class, she was having us for the first period. Like we were being controlled to do so, we all stood up in union and greeted her, “Good morning ma, you welcome to our class” we greeted in the fake phonics intonations she taught us. She only replied our greeting with a wave of hand and we sat down again in union. She then started the class with the second topic of the term, Letter writing. It wasn’t that an interesting topic as we didn’t seem to be listening, we were all expecting the Inspectors, even the English teacher herself was not focusing on what she was teaching, she would run out at times if she heard car horns so as to check if it was the inspectors only to discover that it was car horns from random cars on the road. Mrs Jones wasn’t left out as she would occasionally peep through the windows to see if they had arrived.

“Peep, peep” we finally heard the much awaited horn, I looked out of the window as the gateman opened the gate and two van drove in
