She suddenly bursted out in laughter which got me surprised, I thought she just got slapped.

Joy:” I tricked you, i made the slapping sound with my hands so as to get because I knew you weren’t sleeping, so you want to trick me?” She was now laughing really hard, I could not control it as I also bursted out in laughter, Sandra on her own side could not hide her jealousy as she simply stood up and walked away while Joy’s eyes followed her until she went out.

Me:” Why are you looking at her like that?” I asked

Joy:” Jamb question, Won’t you go for break?” She asked stretching out her hands which I took without a second thought. She drew me behind and we went to the food canteen hand in hand.

Me:” So joy aren’t you scared that the school authorities might punish us, they are already suspecting we are dating you know?” I was now sitting on a plastic chair and facing joy who was opposite me.

Joy:” Did you tell them we are dating? They have no evidence you know, and moreover you have not asked me out yet.”

Me:”But we know we love each other now”

Joy:” I Dont know if you love me” she said smiling.

Me:”But I love you”

Joy: “Then tell me you do” She said mimicking my voice.

Me:”OK joy I love you”

Joy: “Gosh, that not romantic, haven’t you seen guys recite poems to tell their girlfriends they love them, can’t you do same?”

Me:”Of course I can”

Joy:” Then do” she said mimicking my voice again.

Me:” OK here we go, Twinkle, twinkle little star..”

Joy:”Oh my Jesus, just forget, I love you too” she said while I bursted out in laughter.

Joy:”My boyfriend is weird” she said as she stood up to get water from the canteen fridge.

Me:”And my girlfriend loves me that way” I said more like a whisper which she heard and hissed.She took two sachet water and came back.

Joy:”Remember, you are going to see my mom today” she reminded me.

Me:”I know Mumu” I said while she formed an angry face. I finished up my snacks while Joy s----d her last orange, I Dont know what she got with oranges, from the little time I had been with her, I had never seen her taken anything apart from oranges.

Me:”Dont you take any other thing apart from oranges?” I finally asked.

Joy:”That the secret of my beauty” she replied while I bursted out in laughter.

Me:”Who is deceiving you?” I asked in pretence while she just stood up cleaned her hands and turned to go to the class.

Me:”So you will leave without me?” I asked still sitting down.

Joy:”Watch me” she replied as she headed for the class swaying those killer waist of hers. I watched her as she left the canteen, am indeed a lucky guy, she is just good for me. I did not go to class as I thought I needed to relax, I straightened my legs and turned to the plasma TV that was hanging on one side of the canteen, “Let me just while away time with it” I thought as I watched the English movie that was being displayed. I had not spent up to five minutes watching the movie when I heard Joy’s voice from behind.

Joy:”So you mean you will remain here if I Dont take you along? ” she asked while I turned to face her.

Me:”Please Dont disturb me, let me watch this movie ” i replied her as I turned back to continue the movie.

Joy:”Stand up now, or I will ..” I did not allow her finish before I got up, I knew what she could do.

Me:”OK let’s go” I said as I started walking away but she drew me back.

Me:”What again?”

Joy:”You forgot to hold my hands” she said with a baby face.I hissed, grabbed her hands and drew her out.

Joy:” Gently Dont pull my hands off” she said as she whistled a song.

Me:”You are…”

Joy:”My boyfriend is a cabbage head” she said interrupting me. I did not say a word again as I drew her until we got to the class. I released her and adjusted my glasses.

Joy:” I love you” she whispered into my ears before heading to her seat and I headed to mine where Sandra was already sitted, I wonder where she normally goes to for break.

The break finally came to an end and the bell for extra curriculum activities came 30 minutes after that of the break over.
Students could be seen rushing to the hall to secure a seat at the front, the representatives for our class were gathered at a corner of our class discussing, they were four in number, they were supporting the motion that children should choose career course themselves. Sandra and Akpan from my class and Mercy and John from the arts class would be teaming up together to represent our class. I took a note with me and headed to the hall, I had asked Joy to keep space for me earlier. I walked slowly to the hall and located joy in a corner of the hall. She had placed a book on a seat beside hers for me to sit, the chair was meant for two people. I had berely sat down when an sss 3 student came up to me, he happens to be the Social prefect.

Prefect:”You can’t sit there” he said with a thick voice as he stood in front of the chair occupied by I and Joy.

Me:”And why can’t I?” I asked him relaxing more on the chair.
