The prefect did not say a thing again, he just pointed to the back and I turned to see Miss Linda, she gestured to me to come. I stood up immediately and went to her, I can’t afford to disobey Miss Linda.

Miss Linda:”Do you want to get yourself into more trouble?” She asked immediately I got close to her. I was surprised at the question as I did not understand it.

Miss Linda:” See in case you Dont know, the school are looking for every means possible to get allegations against you and Sandra, this is the least I expect you to do, public display of love.” She said in a low tone,we were at the last door of the hall.

Me:”Am sorry ma” I said with my head bowed.

Miss Linda:”OK, now go look for somewhere else to stay, I know Joy will understand” she concluded and turned away heading back to her class, I also headed towards my chair. I took my note and pen, “Miss Linda said we should split” I told her smiling while she nodded too with a smile. I searched for another free sit which was two tables away from my previous. The hall soon became filled up and the teachers started arriving so as to conduct the debate. The debaters were called out and they arranged themselves side by side the sss 1 facing the sss 3 and the sss 3 doing like wise. The visual art teacher was the host of the debate, he is known for his funny nature and I thought be would fit perfectly into comedy rather than teaching, his name is Master Sam.

Master Sam:”Now the battle is about to begin, the sss 1 ready to devour the sss 3 students and the sss 3 meaning to do same, but, calm down first, at least you are free to fight yourself after I introduce you guys to my beautiful, handsome and intelligent audience. Now, representing the sss 1 class, I present to you the ever handsome Akpan, the light skinned Sandra and the meek Mary. Now from the sss 3 class, we have the ever frowning Gbenga, the baby face Nancy and Smart Lovet. The sss 1 students would be supporting the motion that the children should be allowed to choose a career course for themselves while the sss 3..” He was interrupted by the principal who came in immediately and signalled to him to stop which he did, the principal came to take over the Microphone.

Principal: ” we just got the news that inspectors would be coming to our School tomorrow, they would be coming to approve our school for waec and Neco. I would have to postpone this debate till another day as I would need the teachers, I mean all teachers to assemble in the staff room. The time keeper should also ring the bell for closing so that all of you can go home. I Dont mean you should go home to play, go home to wash and iron your uniform, if possible get new pairs of socks and Polish your shoes, I Dont want any pig here tomorrow. And please take note no one of you should put on sport wears tomorrow, you should all be in uniforms.” He concluded and took a look at the hall again before finally vacating it. The time keeper did as he was told to, he went took the bell and jingled it signifying closing period. Happiness would be an understatement if used to express the feelings of the students, they were very happy to go home, it was very early to close for the day. As for me, I wasn’t happy, I wasn’t sad, I was nervous. I was nervous because I would be going to see Joy’s Mom, I Dont know what awaits me there but I pray it should not turn out bad. I was still in my thought when Joy herself came to me backing her school bag and holding mine.

Joy:”Let’s go see my mom” she said laughing, it was like I was going to introduce myself to her parents as her husband.

Me:” why Dont we…”

Joy:” I know you are scared but no worries, I got you covered.” She said smiling. I didn’t want to offend her so I simply got up and took my bag from her.

Me:”Let me tell my sister I would be coming home late so..”

Joy:” Oh, I told her yesterday on Facebook that you would be coming to know my mom today” she interrupted while I removed my glasses immediately.

Me:”She is going to telly mom you know?” I was now sweating.

Joy:”Calm down guy, Dont you want your mom to know about me? Am introducing you to my mom, so I expect you to do so also, and I have made it easy by sending my in-law your sis.”
She was really enjoying herself this time but I was not enjoying myself, my Mom is gonna kill me with questions, she would want to know who joy is by all means and might even Want me to bring her home, that was apparently the last thing I would do.

Joy:” Oh gabi, stop thinking, as a matter of fact am coming to your house tomorrow to see your mom” she said and renewed my fears .

Me:”You say what?” I asked like I did not hear the first.

Sandra:”She said she is coming to know your parents tomorrow ” Sandra interrupted from no where.
