Sandra:” And why are you hissing?” She asked Joy as she made to walk pass while Joy turned back sharply.


Joy:” I didn’t do it with your mouth did I?” Joy asked her back while Sandra drew back in shock. The few Students around that morning also let out slight murmurs, this would probably be the first time Joy would be defending herself.

Sandra:” Are you talking to me?” She asked tryinh to cover herself.


Joy:” who else will I be talking to if not you” Joy fired back again. Sandra couldn’t take it anymore as she raised her hands and made to slap Joy, I held her hands from behind.


Me:” I won’t allow you do that” I said as I flung her hands away and went towards joy who was still in her position to dodge the slap. I held her by her hands and smiled, she smiled back.

Sandra:” YoU!! GABRIEL” she called out in surprise I stared my at her as I adjusted my glasses.


” I Dont wanna be a player no more” I thought to myself.


Me:”Yes” I replied her call. She advanced closer to me smiling mischievously, I was also smiling not knowing what she had in mind. She came close enough and dished out for me a clean slap, the slap was so hot that it help removed my unfitting glasses and it fell to the floor. I did not bother picking the glasses as I also rose my hands to slap her but Joy was there to stop me.

Joy:”My guy is not weak enough to slap a girl” She said as clutched my hand staring at me in the eye. She then drew me to my sit and sat me down, she also went back and picked up my glasses which she wore for me.


Joy:”Sorry about that ” She said as she sat on my desk.


Sandra:”Arhggggh” she shouted and ran out probably to Mrs Jagun’s office but unfortunately for her, Mrs Jagun wasn’t in School yet.


Me:” Joy” I said more like a whisper.


Joy:” What is it?” She asked twisting her face like she was frowning.


Me:” Joy, am really sorry for…”


Joy:”Shhhh, Dont apologize, I knew you wanted to play Sandra so as not to get me in trouble even though you love me” she said while I sprang up.

Me:” Now I conclude, You are a witch right?”

Joy:” Guy, Dont call me that , I added my good friend Cynthia who happens to be your sister on Facebook yesterday. We chatted yesterday night and she told me that she overheard you and your senior sister discussing about playing Sandra so as not to put me in trouble” she concluded as I sat down gently.


Me:” Am sorry I did that” I said as she stared into the air. Cynthia is in trouble today.


Me:” What about your parent now, won’t they be angry when they find out about us?” I asked while she looked at me and smiled.

Joy:” I told my mom” she said while I stood up again.

Joy:” Hey calm down, I told her that I love a guy, a new guy in my school. She only smiled and told us not to go beyond ourselves. I also told her about Sandra and Mrs Jagun, she said we should be careful and try our best not to offend Mrs Jagun. She also said she will like to know you” she concluded. I pulled off my glasses immediately “Know me for what?” I asked myself.



Joy:”Gabi, Dont be Scared, she is very cool. Promise you will follow me home today” she said again as she now came down from the desk and sat on the chair beside me, she placed her hands around my back.


Me:”I….. Promise” I said uneasily.


Joy:”Yeah thanks so much, Dont worry my mom won’t be too harsh on you.”


Me:”I pray and hope so” I replied.


Sandra:”Hey Joy, get up from my chair” she shouted as she stood before us, I and joy must have been so engrossed in our discussion as we did not notice Sandra came into the class.


Joy:”Gabi, let me go to my sit now so as to avoid stories that touch” she said and stood up to go but I held her .


Me:”Let me stay with you on your sit before the assembly” I said standing up to follow her but the assembly bell interrupted us, it was like it was all planned. I stared at joy and we bursted out in laughter, Sandra never stopped hissing.

I joined in singing the praise and worship that morning, it will be my first time in joining to sing since I arrived the School. Why won’t I praise him? He has done wonders for me. The singing was followed by prayers and then the national anthem. The principal then came to address us.


” Today is Thursday, as we had always done, we would be having our extra curriculum activities today, unlike other terms we won’t be waiting for the third week. Today we would be starting with a debate between the sss 1 and sss 3 class, the two classes should prepare well as we have prices for them. The English teacher will come to your class to brief you on the subject matter. So I expect that by two o’clock, all students should be in the school hall.” He concluded and stepped down the plattform.


The two classes clapped their hands and shouted in excitement, I also find myself clapping as I hoped for my class to win. We finally marched into our class while the English teacher came some moment later and wrote the debate subject on the board, “Patents or children, who is to pick the career course of study?” She wrote boldly. She then went out after informing us that our class teacher will come to pick the representative,a boy and girl.



Mrs Jagun:”Where is that stupid girl that calls herself joy” she barked as she barged into out class some minutes after the English teacher left, she was with a fat, long cane.


Me:”There is no stupid girl named Joy in this class ma’am” I shouted across to her. She turned her attention to me immediately.


Mrs Jagun:”Was that meant for me?” She asked in shock while I adjusted my glasses.
