Secondary - Season 1 - Episode 10

Me:” I Dont get you” I replied Sandra still surprised, my hands went up my face and I removed my glasses, I was now kind of sweating in the cool weather.

Sandra:” what is it you Dont get? I just told you Mrs Jagun asked me to be your new seat mate. I know you Dont believe me, you can go and ask her yourself” she said as she went and sat down. I turned to face Joy who had now relocated to Sandra’s previous sit, our eyes met and she quickly averted hers away. I saw pity in her face, she was sorrowful and helpless, I myself was also helpless. I dropped my bag on the desk and took another look at
Sandra, “Maybe we can sort it out peacefully” I thought to myself.

Me:”Sandra, please, you can tell Mrs Jagun you Dont …..”

Sandra:”No, Gabriel I would do no such thing, I can’t lie.” She interrupted me. I took a stern look at her before finally taking out my assembly note from my bag and went out even though it wasn’t yet time for assembly. “Yes!!” I shouted inside of me as I remembered Miss Linda, she might be of help, she had asked us not to change sit no matter the circumstances. I made to look for her class but the assembly bell stopped me. I had to wait until the assembly was over, I went back to class to drop my note and then headed for Miss Linda class, it wasn’t hard locating it, I had seen her come out from it during the assembly.

Me:”Good morning ma” I greeted as I reached her table situated at the far back of the class. She looked up and smiled seeing it was me.

Miss Linda:”Gabriel, How are you?” She asked as she dropped her pen.

Me:”Am good ma” I replied.

Miss Linda:”So what brings you to my class?” She asked me relaxing her back on her chair.

Me:”Ma, I came to complain about Sandra, she had transferred herself to my sit saying it Mrs Jagun that asked her to sit there” I said to her a little bit scared. She looked at me and smiled again, it wasn’t a happy smile.

Miss Linda:” Gabriel, If Mrs Jagun is involved, then there is nothing I can do, I love my job” she said with pity in her eyes. I understand, everyone seem to be afraid of Mrs Jagun, she is among the school authorities, the league of Sandra’s parent.

Me:”Okay Ma, thanks” I said, I wouldn’t want to also lose my job because of changing of sit so I Dont expect miss Linda to do so.

Miss Linda:”Gabriel” she called me when I was about leaving, I turned back to face her.

Miss Linda:”No matter what you do, Dont have anything to do with Sandra, try your best to avoid her.” She told me while she picked her pen to start marking the students assignments.”Thanks ma” I said audible enough for her not to hear as I left her class. I walked slowly to my class, I entered with my head bent as I tried to avoid eyes that were on me, I approached my sit and sat down beside the devil.

Sandra:”Where did you go to?” She asked me while I turned to her surprised and angry.

Me:”How is that your business?” I asked her too.

Sandra:” Hey, we aren’t fighting, it was just a harmless question” she said while I turned to face the white marker board.

Sandra:”Sooo, am Sandra Adegboye” she said after a while but I did not remove my gaze from the board and I pretended not to hear her.

Sandra:”Hello, am talking to you” she said again.

Me:”Am not interested” I replied with my gaze on the marker board. I turned to the other side of the class where Joy’s sit was located, our eyes met, this time, she did not take her’s away. I tried smiling at her but she looked away immediately she saw a smile forming on my lips, she was frowning. My anger grew the more as I saw the anger in joy, I tried to calm myself as I turned to Sandra hoping to beg again.

Me:”Sandra, please, can you..”

Sandra:”Hey, am not interested” she replied sharply while I kept shut. We had some classes before break but I was not paying attention, my mind seemed to be faraway from them, I was thinking of every possible means to make Sandra leave my sit “Should I go and beg Mrs Jagun?” I thought on one occasion but I knew I could not, it was the break time bell that brought an end to my thought. “Summit your maths assignment in the sss 3 science class” the class rep announced and some students went to summit theirs, I had mine done also so I also joined them to summit mine before coming back from break. I rushed back to class to meet Joy so we could go for break together but she wasn’t there again, she had gone on her own. I walked to the canteen hoping she would be there but she wasn’t, I really need to talk to her. I went out through the back door of the canteen which led to the large field, I looked around but no one was there.I was just turning back when I felt a hand tap me.

Joy:”Looking for me?” She asked as I turned to see her licking an orange, I breathed in relieve and my left hand adjusted my glasses.
