Secondary - Season 1 - Episode 9

Sandra got up, passed miss Linda and went to her sit.

Miss Linda:” I Dont want to see you change sit again Sandra, that should be your permanent sit, is that clear?” She asked while Sandra nodded uneasily before miss Linda decided to leave the class as the break over bell was rung. I looked at Joy, she was smiling this time, I wonder why. I sat down adjusting for her to sit down which she did.

Me:”So why are you smiling now?” I asked curiously.

Joy:”Do you want me to cry?” She replied my question with another question.

Me:”OK am sorry, continue smiling ma” I said while she laughed.

Joy:”Hmm, I was just happy miss Linda took our side, other teachers would have asked either I or you to leave the sit for her” she told me. ” What sort of school is this?” I asked myself, a school where everybody want to please a girl because are parents are rich.

Me:”Yeah, why is miss Linda not in support of Sandra? ” I asked again

Joy:” Miss Linda and Master Theophilus are the only two teachers that stand for what is right” she said.

Joy:” They should have been sacked a long time ago if not for the fact that they are the best in their field of study. I remember a case of a teacher Mrs Chiwendu who had flogged Sandra in order to correct her, she got sacked the next day. The School knows that if either Miss Sandra or Master Theophilus get Sacked, then the student will fail woefully in both I.C.T and Mathematics. ”

Me:”Where is this Master Theophilus? ” I asked her.

Joy:”He is upstairs in the staff room, he is our maths teacher, I love him also, he is of good characters” she said smiling. I had wanted to ask another question again when a voice interrupted.

Voice:”Its Maths time!!!!” the teacher who just entered shouted while the students shouted in reply “Its Calculation time” I smiled as I saw the way the ,students were happy to see him.

Joy:”Yeah that Master Theophilus, the Mathematics wizard ” she said laughing.

Master Theophilus:” Wow, its nice seeing you guys again, you are all grown up now. Hey I Dont recongnize you” he said pointing at me smiling.

Me:”Am new sir” I replied him adjusting my glasses and also smiling.

Master Theophilus: ” Good, at last you guys got a new student, a guy for that matter. Hey come forward” he said while I made to go out uneasily.

Master Theophilus: ” Dont be shy, are you not a big boy? Come forward, you must explain to the whole class why you are sitting with my wife Joy” he said while the whole class bursted out in laughter. I went to the front of the class and stood beside him, he place his hands across my shoulders.

Master Theophilus: “Now introduce yourself to the class” he said while I turned to face the class, there were about 30 students, 17 girls and 13 boys, I make them 14.

Me:”Am Gabriel Hugine” I said not knowing what else to say.

Master Theophilus: “That’s not all, how old are you?” He asked me, I Dont know what the teachers in this school need my age for.

Me:”Am 14 years sir” I replied smiling.

Master Theophilus: ” okay Gabriel, Welcome to your new school, Mr.Green’s Academy. I hope you enjoy your stay and you Dont end up taking over all my wives. You can go now” he said patting my back while I walked slowly to my sit.

Truly, he was a mathematics wizard, he broke down all calculations for us and by the end of his class, I had already fallen in love with Mathematics. He finally left the class after giving us some exercise to do as assignment. He was the only teacher that started his topics after giving us the scheme the same day.

Me:”wow, he is wonderful” I told Joy after he left while she nodded and smile. We spent the rest of the day discussing about things that we thought we should discuss about. We had physics and Chemistry class that day before the bell for closing came. I escorted Joy to the gate again but this time my sister was there waiting for me. I quickly did a quick introduction between them.

Me:” Joy, this is my sis Cynthia and Cynthia, Joy my classmate” I said while they both smiled at each other, Joy later stretched her hand for a handshake which Cynthia took and that was how they became friends.

The journey back home was hell, Cynthia would not let me rest with unnecessary questions “Gabriel, is she the most beautiful in your class? Do you like her? Is she your girlfriend?” She was asking but I gave her no reply which made her kept quiet until we got home.

I ate my food after I had freshen up, my mom saw that I was happy today and she was pleased, she must be thinking that I love my new school, me that have fallen In love. I went to my room to study, I did that for about 3 hours before I logged in to facebook and accepted the friend request from Joy. She also logged in some moment later and we chatted a little before I finally slept off and went to dream land. I woke up the next morning and did all the necessary preparations, I was not as early as the day before but I wasnt late either. I then went off to school with my sister this time. I whistled a hymn as I walked pass the gate and approached my class, I entered it and it was semi full, I turned to my sit and saw Joy packing her bag away to another chair, she passed me without saying anything, Sandra then came and sat down on my sit bringing her bag along. She stood up and approached me while I simply adjusted my glasses.

Sandra:”Oh sorry I did not inform you, Mrs Jagun asked me to be your new seat mate” she said smiling.
