{RICHARD’S ROOM}

Richard was speechless as he stood staring at Thelma. Then when he finally found his voice, he asked, “Thelma! What did you just say?”

“You heard me!” Thelma replied sharply.

“Why are you treating me like a child Thelma, remember I was your senior in school and besides we’re not of the same age, am thirty five for crying out loud and should be respected and honoured,” Richard said, almost shouting.

“Wow!” Thelma said and clapped her hands. “You never remembered all that when you kept on trying to impose marriage on me despite already being married.
According to my source of information, it says you married Jane when she was eighteen,” She said, walked to the bed and sat down. “For God’s sake Richard, she completed her education after delivering your first child and you still have the daring guts to cheat on her,” She said out aloud.

To say the least, Richard was very surprised but he was determined to stay strong, “Who told you all this Thelma and why did you have to find this out, you should be spending your time in preparing for the war that’s in two days time and not being bent on bringing issues from the past to the present,” he scowled.

Thelma laughed quietly and stood up again, “The past really matters to me now coz you lied and kept me in the dark for good eight years, Richard eight you think say eight years na beans?” Thelma asked in pidgin english.

“I love that girl I had s-x with coz she’s still fresh and young and I also love Jane coz I benefit a lot from her, you told me you’re engaged, so please think about your fiance and let others be, if not you will see my dark side,” Richard shouted in anger.

Thelma laughed out loud and clapped her hands in pleasure, “Think about your father’s reputation and wealth. Think about what you stand to loose if Jane divorces you.
Think about the consequences of being a lie and a cheat, think Richard. The war is in two days and the ball is in your court, play it wisely,” Thelma concluded and with that She walked to the door.

“I can never kill her Thelma. Jane will understand when I take her home besides it’s not a crime to love two women at the same time. I love her and also love her, do your worst young lady,” Richard barked furiously.

Thelma stared at him like he had gone nuts, “I really wonder who made you such a fool. I thought you were only a womanizer but…”

“You refused to marry me when I asked you to because of the same womanising issue and now you say I lied to you, I don’t really understand you but I doubt if you’re sane,” Richard said.

“Good Richard, now is the time for you to pay for all your wrong deeds. Kill her during the war or live to regret it the rest of your life,”
Thelma said and with that she walked out of his room with a pleasant smile on her face.

“Gosh! What I’ve I gotten myself into, this will be a tough one for me,” Richard said to himself as he walked to sit on the edge of the bed…

(SITTING ROOM)

Jane sat on the couch in the sitting room watching television when suddenly Ella barged into the sitting room with a file containing papers in her hands.

“Mum!” Ella called out sharply. “What’s this?” She asked as she tossed the paper on the centre table.

Jane stared at the file surprisingly. Those were the divorce papers but how did Ella find them. “Where did you find that?” she asked as she stood up and walked to the centre table.

“Your room mum, please explain!” Ella said angrily.

Emmy immediately stood up and walked to the centre table. Then he picked up the file and opened it, “Divorce papers, Mum!” he exclaimed in shock.

“Why did you go into my room Ella?” the mother asked.

“I was looking for my novel,” Ella replied.

“Since when did you start keeping your stuffs in my room?” The mother questioned again.

“That doesn’t answer the question mum, who are the divorce papers for?” Ella asked boldly.

Jane was speechless and couldn’t utter a word as she stood like a child staring at the file in her son’s hand.

“Mum! Please say something,” Emmy requested in a calm manner…
