DESPERATE PLIGHT (Travails Of a hero ) - Season 2 - Episode 11

RICHARD’S RESIDENCE
(SITTING ROOM)

Jane stood for a few more minutes, then she collected the file from her son and closed it. “It’s nothing,” she said in a low voice that was barely audible.

Ella and Emmy exchanged puzzled looks, “Mum!” they both called in unison. “What are you hiding.”

Jane shook her head and smiled, “You little children worry a lot, I said it’s nothing,” She said with a note of finality which indicated the topic was closed. Then she walked past them and headed to the room.

Minutes after the mum had left, Emmy sighed and sat on the couch with his head buried in his palms, “We lost our dad. And now we’re about to loose our mum,” he lamented bitterly.

“Oh Emmy, please, we’re not loosing anyone,” Ella said, close to tears.

“But can’t you see or are you…”

“Oh shut up, will you?” Ella snapped and also left the sitting room…

THE NEXT DAY
RAYMOND’S RESIDENCE
Time checked- 7:05am

Raymond had a meeting to attend in his office very early that morning. He locked his door and half ran to his car with his briefcase in his hand and his suite which he hadn’t buttoned in the middle rose up as the early morning breeze blew it gently. But just as he was about opening his car door, Mike’s car drove into the compound.

“S--t!” Raymond cursed under his breath as he placed his right hand his pocket and turn to face Mike who was already out of the car.

“Mike, what brought you to my house this early must be very important but as you see I have an important meeting to attend, can we sit out and talk during lunch?” he asked in one breath.

Mike forced out a smile and moved closer to him, “I need an advice, nothing else.”

Raymond chuckled, “Advice? For what?”

“I couldn’t sleep last night because of that woman I told you about, I really need to talk to her but I don’t know how to go about it considering the fact that she’s married,” Mike explained patiently.

“Mike! I think you’ve gone crazy, not just crazy but very stupid too. So you actually came to my house this early to talk about someone’s wife?” Raymond asked, visibly irritated.

Mike scratched his head and placed his hand on Raymond’s shoulder, “I know you might think am stupid but I love her, can’t you see. Come on Raymond, I need this woman.”
Raymond removed his hand from his pocket and shrugged Mike’s hand away from his shoulder, “There’s this saying that many are mad but few are roaming and it’s quite obvious that you are not left out in those that are mad,” he hissed, then turned, opened his car and entered inside.

“Raymond, are you leaving me just like that?” Mike asked with his hands placed on his waist.

“No I will stay here and watch you display your talent of stupidity, look Mike, the earlier you start thinking like a man, the better for you,” Raymond said as he closed the door to his car, turn on the ignition and drove out of the compound thus leaving Mike who stood staring after his car in a confused manner…

WAR CAMP
TRAINING FIELD

Richard sat on the chaise longue at the corner of the field with his head bent, thinking about Thelma’s threat. The training field was filled up as everyone was busy preparing for the war which was just around the corner.

“Hello Richard,” Thelma called as she came to sit beside him. “A penny for your thoughts,” she smiled happily.

Richard turned to face her, “Do you really want to know?” he asked.

“Yes. Or I don’t deserve to know?”

“I was just thinking about Thelma’s threat,” Richard smiled a bit.

Thelma looked at him amusingly, “Just do as Thelma says and save yourself from trouble.”

“But I…” Richard started to say but stopped as someone walked up to them.

“Uhmm, I guess I need to leave now, see you later,” Thelma said as she stood up, eyed the person that had walked up to them and walked back into the field.

“Richard! What were you doing with that witch,” Lucy asked as she sat beside Richard with her hands in her cardigan pockets.

“She’s just an old friend,” Richard smiled as he placed his hand on her laps which was covered in her training shorts.

“I need your help Richard,” Lucy breath.

“Sure, anything for you.”

“Do you really love me?” Lucy asked as she faced him.

“Yes! Very much,” Richard replied, wondering why she asked.

“Then when the battle is getting hotter tomorrow, make sure Thelma is dead before twelve noon,” she requested, smiling seductively.

“What!” Richard exclaimed as he couldn’t believe his ears. “What would make this girls want to use me to settle their scores?” He asked rhetorically…
