RICHARD’S HOUSE
:

Jane walked up to the middle of the room and picked up her phone that was on the centre table. “I asked you to get inside and do the needful not to come in and stand like a statue,” She said in a high pitched voice.

Ella and Emmy who stood behind the couch that was close to the door quickly walked to their mother, held her hands and led her to sit on one of the couch. “Mum!” Ella called out in a soothing voice. “I know you’ve forgiven us for allowing a stranger drive us home but theres something bothering you, something that has been making you cry,” She said and sat beside her while Emmy squatted infront of her. “Mum am fifteen and I know what is right and wrong, please tell us what’s bothering you,” Ella pleaded.

Jane sighed deeply, “Nothing much, just that I miss your father a lot,” She said, trying very hard not to cry.

Emmy shook his head negatively, then stood up and sat beside his mum too. “Mum, you’ve always thought us never to lie but you are lying to us besides I had a bad dream about dad last night and I woke up crying but you just told me it’s nothing and went back to your room without even asking me about the dream,” he complained sadly.

“A dream?” the mother asked in surprise.

“You see, that’s why I didn’t want to come back home today because my mum doesn’t care about me anymore and my dad refused to answer me when I cried for help in my dream,” Emmy said and began to cry.

A flush of emotions swept through Jane as she quietly pulled her children closer to herself and wrapped her hands around their back.

She also had a dream similar to her son’s where her husband had come back home with another woman but had beaten her up when she confronted him.

“Mum! What is going on, are we going to loose dad, will he abandon us because I’ve been having bad feelings ever since he travelled again and besides he hasn’t even called us as he promised before leaving,” Ella said with her voice full of fear.

“Yes mum, answer us coz I’m afraid. I don’t want to loose my daddy,” Emmy cried.

Jane was moved to tears but she had to control herself as she couldn’t cry infront of her children, though she kept having feelings that something bad will happen, she was determined to stay strong, “It’s alright my jewels. You know daddy will never abandon us so you don’t have to worry, okay?” She said and smiled a bit.

Ella and Emmy looked up to her, “Mum are you sure?” they both asked in unison.

Jane smiled and wiped her son’s tear. “Come on, trust your mother. Now go and change, shower and come have lunch, we will visit your grandparents later in the evening,” she hugged them.

“Thanks mum, you are the best,” they both smiled too and hugged her tight…

RAYMOND’S HOUSE

Mike parked his car and alighted. Then he got out, after making sure everywhere was locked, he walked and climb the short flight of stairs that led to Raymond’s front door

“Guy!” He called as he reached out and opened the door, walked in and closed the door behind him.

Raymond who sat on the couch in the sitting room, watching match, just hissed. “Shea me and you don turn mates that you just enter my house without knocking,” he said in pidgin.

Mike just hissed and sat opposite him, “Abeg, bring wine and two glasses, let’s enjoy.”

Raymond eyed him playfully and dropped his remote on the centre table, then stood up and walked to the glass storage he stored his drinks and brought out a bottle of champagne.

“Which match is this one sef, na it’s too boring,” Mike said from the sitting room as he picked up remote to change the channel.
Raymond sighed from the dining room as he closed the fridge which he had opened to remove two glasses. “Stupid match jhare with no sides scoring. I was just bored sha but it’s good you came,” Raymond smiled and walked to the sitting room, then dropped the drink and glasses on the side stool beside Mike and sat on the couch

“Mumu, I thought you won’t appreciate my coming,” Mike laughed as he picked up the drink and opened it, then poured it into the glasses.

Raymond picked up his drink, toast it with Mike’s and sipped a bit. “Any better?” he asked.

Mike also sipped his drink, then swallowed and replied, “Yes o, I dropped my one of my student at home today, only to find out when I got there that her mum is the lady I helped years back and gosh she looks more beautiful than ever.”

Raymond giggled, “So you came here to tell me about someone’s wife?”

“Kai! You need to see her ehn, so fresh and young,”
Mike smiled and sipped his drink again.

“I just pity you, thank God you no longer have eyes for my Thelma.”

Mike gave a short laugh, “How are you sure another man isn’t s------g her at the moment?”

“She dare not cheat on me coz I will just kill her,”
Raymond fired…
