DESPERATE PLIGHT (Travails Of a hero ) - Season 2 - Episode 6

WAR CAMP
(STILL OUTSIDE)
:
Thelma’s smiling face gradually and
slowly turned into amazed one. “You
must be joking right?” She asked
again just be sure of what she heard.

Richard gave a chuckle of delight,
“Why are you so surprised?”

“I am because five years is such a
long time and you should have been
married by now, probably with two
kids or so,” She said.

Richard laughed a bit, “Yea but it’s
rather unfortunate that I couldn’t
find the right person.”

Thelma breath in and out heavily.

She didn’t feel convinced but
decided to play along. “Anyways I
have a fiance,” She smiled a bit

“A fiance!” Richard repeated after
her.

“Yes of coz,” Thelma chuckled. “Is it
wrong to have one?”
“Um no… I mean no,” Richard
stammered. “I’m just surprised coz
back then in school, the Thelma I
knew never had time for boyz,” he
explained.

“Ah! I see,” Thelma laughed. “Well
I’ve changed,” She said and pulled
back a strand of hair that was on her
face.

“Impressive, I must say you look very
beautiful and charming than before,”

Richard complimented as he fixed
his gaze on her, then shifted closer
to her.

Thelma blushed, “Thanks Richy,” She
appreciated. Soon they fell silent as
Richard started pushing his head
towards hers, without caring if
others were watching.

“Just a kiss,” Richard thought quietly
as he licked his lips but Thelma who
knew him too well quickly and
smartly dropped her phone at her
feet and stood up.

“I’m sorry,” She apologised and bent to pick up her phone. “I’ll see you at
dinner and then we can as well sit
out and talk more,” She smiled
gleefully and walked past him,
shaking her butt0ckz vigorously.

Richard ogled at her with lustful
eyes as she walked. Then when she
was out of sight, he felt as if
something was taken off his eyes
thus making him remember his wife
and children back home. “Did I just
lie about Jane?” he asked
rhetorically. “This Thelma always
have a way of making me loose my
mind, anyways I will just have to
screw her once before we leave the
camp and no one will ever find out,”
he smiled, opened the bottle of
lucozade boost and emptied it into
his mouth. Then he stood up and ran
back to the training ground…

RICHARD’S HOUSE
(VARENDA)
:
Jane sat on the couch, occasionally
glancing at the wall clock. She
looked worried, it was getting to
2:30pm but yet her children were
not yet back.

Just then she heard the sound of a
car drive into her compound, so she
immediately stood up and walked to
the door to open it without first
checking to know who it was.

“Mum!” Ella and Emmy screamed
excitedly as they saw their mother
step on the varenda. Then ran to hug
her.

“My jewels,” the mother smiled and
wrapped them in her arms. “How was
school today?” she asked

“Fine mum,” they both chorused.

“Goodafternoon ma,” A voice
greeted.

Jane looked up and was surprised to
see a young handsome man of about
her age standing infront of her with
his hands behind his back.

“Goodafternoon,” She replied and
turned to Ella. “Why did you enter
someone elses’ car, didn’t I warn you
never to allow someone else drive
you home from school?” She queried
and released her hold on them.

“I’m sorry mum but he’s my teacher,”
Ella apologised.

“I’m sorry ma, the stranger also
apologised. “Actually I saw her on
the road struggling with the brother
who refused going home with her,
so I decided to help her out,” he
explained patiently.

“I see, sorry for the stress and thanks
for the ride,” Jane said and turned to
the children, “Now both of you get
inside,” she ordered while Ella and
Emmy quickly obeyed.

“I’ll take my leave now,” the stranger
smiled and turned to leave.

“Wait, would you like to have lunch
with us, I guess you must be very
tired and hungry and also my little
way of saying thank you,” Jane
offered politely.

“No ma, thanks, maybe some other
time,” he smiled again, said his
goodbye and left.

Jane also had a little smile on her
face as she stood and watched him
enter his car and drove out of the
compound. Then she turned back,
entered the house and closed the
door behind her…

INSIDE MIKE’S CAR
:

Mike found himself still thinking
about the woman he had seen while
driving. “She look exactly like the
lady I had onced helped when she
fainted at a supermarket but I guess
she can’t remember me coz it’s been
a long time, well I guess she’s
married now but gosh she looks so
young and beautiful,” he thought as
he kept smiling as Jane’s face kept
flashing in his mind. “Anyways, I just
have to mind my own business,” he
said out loud as he reached a bend
which led to the tarred road…
