DESPERATE PLIGHT (Travails Of a hero ) - Season 2 - Episode 4

TEGA’S RESIDENCE
(BEDROOM)

Tega turned to face her and placed both hands
on her shoulders. “We can start up a family of
our own once we get to America and you know
my dad is a citizen which means I don’t have
any problem if I decide not to come back to
Nigeria,” he said and then smiled.

Lucy shrugged his hands off and backed him,
then folded her arms, “How is that even
possible Tega? How will you be comfortable
starting your own family with someone elses’
child or are you impotent?” she asked and
turned to face him again.

The word ‘IMPOTENT’ sanked deep into
Tega’s subconscious mind. He knew he wasn’t
fertile but decided not to let the cat out of the
bag just yet till things becomes stable. “Come
on baby, you and I know very well that I am
potent, its just that I don’t want to loose you,
that’s why I have to protect you,” he said and
pulled her into his arms again.

Lucy breath out heavily and looked into his
eyes, “I’ve heard you but if Richard happens to
need his child, I won’t hesitate to hand it over
to him.”

“Okay dear,” Tega said and embraced her
tenderly though he still felt hurt for not being
able to tell her the truth…

THE NEXT DAY(SUNDAY EVENING)
NOBLE’S RESORT
(AT THE BAR)

Richard sat on a white designed plastic chair
drinking from a glass of wine. This place was
his favourite relaxation centre and he usually
brings his family to have fun every sunday
evening but unfortunately, this particular
sunday, he was alone but not really alone coz
a friend had invited him over to discuss the
issues at hand.

Minutes later, the person he had been waiting
for arrived and after exchange of pleasantries,
they both sat down to discuss.

“What do you wanna drink?” Richard asked
trying to smile.

“Oh! Thanks Richy,” Jeff turned down his offer
politely. “I’m here so we can talk about you,
so lets begin,” he added and smiled.

Richard swallowed hard and leaned forward on
the table infront of him. Then began to narrate
his experiences. After he had finished, he
added, “I don’t want to loose my wife and I
don’t want to Lucy to die especially now that
she carrying my child.”

Jeff sighed and also leaned forward on the
table, then placed his hand on top, “It’s quite
obvious now that Mr Davidson wants you and
Tega dead because you both stopped Lucy
from being killed, I must say you got yourself
entangled in this mess by sleeping with Lucy
but its of no use crying over a spilt milk coz
the deed has already been done. What do you
suggest we do to Mr Davidson?” he asked.
“Honestly I have no answer to that?” Richard
replied.

“Good, Thelma is the answer. We will have to
kidnap Thelma,” Jeff said.

“Why Thelma? She risked her life to save me,”
Richard frowned.

“Yes she did but we won’t kill nor harm her, we
will just hide her in a safe place, then force Mr
Davidson to pay a huge ransom, only then can
we track him down coz he’s a man of great
personality,” Jeff explained.

Richard sat thoughtfully, he didn’t buy the idea
totally but he had to save his neck. “Okay I’m
in,” he consented without thinking twice, little
did he know that he was endangering himself
and that Jeff wasn’t a good friend as he
thought.

“Nice,” Jeff smiled and stood up. “I have to
go now, I will give you a call when everything
is ready,” he shook hands with Richard who
only nodded, then picked up his phone and car
Key and left…
:
STILL NOBLE’S RESORT
(ROOM 118, upper floor)
:
Tega stood by the window and looked outside,
smiling to himself. He felt very happy that Lucy
was asleep so he could carry out his plans
effectively. He had earlier thought of Richard
coming to take the child from Lucy and also of
Mr Davidson and he decided to act fast. So he
had called Richard’s friend, Jeff, offered him
some money, then asked him to set up a
meeting with Richard, so he could know his
plans. Just then his phone rang and he picked
the call immediately.

“Hello Jeff,” he said into the phone.

“Everything went as planned and he agreed,”
Jeff said from the other end.

“Good, hope you didn’t mention anything about
me to him?” Tega asked.

“No, he’s so dumb and doesn’t even know
he’s being set up,” Jeff laughed.

“Thats good, be prepared coz once I arrive at
America tomorrow evening, we will start
executing our plans and besides my uncle is
on our side too,” Tega said.

“Yes boss, the boys and I are ready.”

“Very well then, wait for my call,” Tega
concluded and hung up. Then grinned wickedly
to himself, “Richard, Thelma and Davidson,” he
called. “You three are doomed for life, the
battle has just begun,” he laughed loudly…
