“I am the lifeless chicken right? No problem” She rolled her beautifully surreal eyes and looked outside the window, still feigning anger.

I tickled her tummy and she ended up laughing sultrily, with some tears glistened in her eyes. “You are so naughty!

“What would you like to have Sir and Ma” A lady politely asked as she settled some used cups of coffee into a carry tray.

“I’ll have a shot of espresso” I replied and looked at Tola to know what she would like to have.

There was a lot to choose from. Cappuccino.

Latte. Macchiato. Mocha. Americano. There was confusion in her eyes. After a while, she replied with a smile “Please let me go with the usual. Caramel Macchiato” her lips paused into a thin line as she looked at the attendant.
The latter scribbled into the notepad in her hand and left.

“Can I have your phone please?” I asked as I screwed up my nose.

“Why?” I leaned back in my chair and demanded again with a smile. The smile an epitome of politeness.

I collected the phone from her and dialled her mom’s number. It was easy to decipher it was her mom’s since it with ‘my gold’ and a picture of her mom used as the contact photo.

My dear, how are you? Ah ah, you are using Tola’s phone to call me. I hope there is no problem, she is with you abi?” “Yes ma. She is here. I would like to request for something from you mom” I said into my mouthpiece and looked at Tola. The look on her was like ‘What the heck are you doing and who gave you the right to call my mom ‘mom’ as if she is yours.
I smiled and held her hand in mine.

“What’s that my dear?” A sly smirk grew on Tola’s lips. “I want Tola to spend the night at my place. We would go to work together tomorrow and I will personally drop her at home after work. Please don’t say no sweet mom” A grin was plastered on my face. Like I was sure she wouldn’t say no. “Hmm.
Just make sure she is safe with you ehn? But what about what she will wear to the bank tomorrow”.

I saw Tola clenching her fists in anger. Her jaw trembled as she tried containing the turmoil of emotions within her. One could tell she was ready to hunt me down after the call.

“That will be sorted out, I just need your approval” “Well, I will release my daughter to you because I trust you Alex. Please don’t do anything silly in the midnight!” She said,
stressing the ‘t’ that ended night. Perfectly getting what she meant, I smiled and assured her mom.

“You should have asked me before calling her!” Tola barked.

“Tola, relax. I want us to discuss about everything tonight. We shouldn’t postpone what has to be discussed” My fingers caressed her cheeks lightly and I saw her melt.
She softened like a bread dropped inside water. “Besides, you can’t say you don’t like the idea” I muttered silently, careful not to make that audible.

“You said?” She asked, scrounging up her head as she looked at me suspiciously.

“What?” I asked with a smile on my face.

She shook her head and gulped down her coffee.
I finished mine also and waited for her to be done with the cup.
