After a while, her screaming stopped; the man in cloak stood to his full height and motioned for the women to follow him. The soldiers walked up to my wife and pulled her away from her still daughter. One of them held her down while the other ripped open her trouser around her hole and slid his c.ock in. The flames made me see the faces of the people who killed my family but I became weak when I realized that one of the two women who kept my wife beneath a tree was Vanessa. I opened my eyes to discover it was morning already; I was filled with both rage and disgust. I had slept with my wife’s killer; how my wife will hate me now in the underworld. Claudia was right; I should be ashamed of myself. I turned on the bed and faced the wall as I wept uncontrollably.
