I blended in seamlessly among the guardians and it did not take long for me to get used to every corner and bend in the forgotten lands.

The quarters were where the more experienced guardians stayed and a few of the wizards. They were few wizards and a handful of witches as sorcery seemed to be the dominant gift among the gifted here.
I was told I was a witch the moment Melfisius set eyes on me and the mother guardian confirmed the same thing on the day of our recognition as guardians. I loved my home and harnessing and discovering more depths in my gift was my greatest loss the moment I stepped into this land.

We were told not to show any of our gifts nor what we have been taught over the years in the stone palace of the king but should act like complete novices. We were presumed to be unable to tell what side of the gift we carried within us and the mother witch did the telling for us. We were assigned to different guardians and witches like me had just about two of these teachers. Miss Ellen Marcus was one of the two; which made the plans of what was to come very easy for me. She liked me and cared a lot for me as I was a fellow witch like her and was one of her findings. She taught me the foundations of magic in my first few months there before she moved to the complex ones. Her love for me grew every day and when she kisses me as a way of greeting, I began to wonder why she was so kind.

The other teacher wasn’t so kind and didn’t care if I learnt whatever she taught me but she never missed a session despite her uncaring attitude.

I went along with girls of my age and drowned myself in what was common among the young and restless – uncontrollable lust and pleasure.

I slept with a different man twice a month but soon I discovered after my second year here that there was no new face to stare into and no new c.ock to walk me on the path of pleasure; I had slept with every man in the town. There was no new discovery to be made. I stayed back in my room and decided to read or watch one of my teachers as I have been instructed to by my king. The old, middle-aged and the young had one point in time behaved like I did but not my teacher. Could the rumours about her be true? Does she feel attracted to her kind; after all she kisses me most time like she would a lover.

But it had never gone beyond our mouth; she kisses and then goes back to why she was with me in the first place. I haven’t seen the lust or want for my body in her eyes; it was just the look of love a mother would give her child.

Something must have happened to her for her to look at men with so much indifference was my conclusion.

I decided to find out what and another time she kissed after she ended one of our classes.

I held on to her lips and refused to pull away; my action made her open her eyes and immediately, I entered her soul through them.

I saw her pain and bitterness; her tortures at the hands of her uncle and cousins. Her losses and how she lost a dear friend at the hands of the gordands; the loss which brought her here to wait for the same man I was here for and ultimately get the vengeance we both wanted.

I fell in love with her that day and whenever we kissed, I tend to linger a little bit hoping she might get my message but she never did.

The man I was sent to watch finally came and what an entrance he made that day; calling forth lightening so powerful, it destroyed the stone floor of the huge compound. I was fascinated by what he did and when I saw from my teacher’s mind he was still yet to understand his gift, my joy knew no bounds.
As the weeks passed, I followed very instruction from my king after he told me the man was unique just like I was and I must be careful around him. I made my teacher swallow my saliva one time she kissed and that enabled my eyes follow her wherever she went. She reported to mother about the progress of the man but they were taking the wrong path. The man doesn’t need emotions to call forth his gift; he was just like me and just wills it out whenever he wanted. I twisted the story of the man bestowed to Claudia, another guardian in order for the hunter to have more reasons to kill the mad king and my plan worked. His rage grew steadily but when I discovered he trusted Claudia more than my teacher, I treaded carefully as the man was quietly brilliant.

The night he slept with my teacher was the night I realized how much power was in this man. While my teacher searched hard to find out more about the man’s strange gift, he was busy trying hard to find out who was watching him through the beautiful woman he was sleeping with. I fought really hard to keep him from seeing me but he was relentless and if it wasn’t for his release, I would have been caught. I cleaned off the sweat on my face and warned myself to be more careful next time.

My master summoned me a few days later and asked me to do reveal the truth, the truth that would change the tidings of the forthcoming war. I waited till when the sun hid behind the clouds and went into the quarters to find the hunter. He was at the gardens watching the beautiful plants; I got close to him and asked for the whereabouts of my teacher. He turned to me and smiled and the moment he locked eyes with me; I went into his mind. I planted the vision I intended to and walked towards the direction he said I would find her. I walked towards the route and turned back to see if he was still watching me but he wasn’t as he took more interest in the flowers; I had completed my work. It was time to rest as I took a left turn and walked towards town to get my hole filled up again.
