She was crying and screaming at the same time… today I was seeing a totally different side of her… her vulnerable side and she was scaring the hell of me. I touched her hand but she moved it.

Me: Babes… talk to me
Fadz: take me back home
Me: but your father is going to beat you?
Fadz: I don’t care… I don’t care… how can you disrespect my father like that… of all the people Zenzele. I don’t care whether you claim to love me or not… weather you were just protecting me or not…. He is my father and he has the right to beat me up or killed me if he wants to… he brought me to this earth and frankly he is the man you should be asking me from.

I felt my stomach turn
Me: Fadz… do you hate me just because of your father

Fadz: if you don’t return me back to my parents then I am going to hate you forever and ever
That was like a kick on my heart. What did she want me to do… was I making a mistake… does she not love me… I looked at her and she turned to outside the window wiping away her tears. F--k… maybe I am not meant to be happy in love.

I hit the staring wheel before I turned the car around and raced to her house. With the way I was hurt… I couldn’t hide the tears that formed in my eyes.

When I arrived she opened the door for herself but before she could get out I was already by her side pulling her out by her hand but making sure not to hurt her. I hurried her to the house unsure of what I was going to tell the man I just disrespected
I knocked once and the door opened it was her mother and she looked like she has been crying a lot. Her father was sitting on the couch. He didn’t even look at us as we entered

Mr. Zanindi: what are you doing in my house?
Me: I have brought your daughter back…. And I came to apologize.
He just chuckled.

Mr. Zanindi: you brought my daughter back and you came to apologize
He slowly raised his eyes to meet mine.
Mr. Zanindi: so you do know that she belongs to me and me alone… her father…
I kneeled down in front of him and I heard Fadz muttering oh my God. I was also not thinking I think my mind was malfunctioning.
Me: Mr. Zanindi: I know that what I did is not acceptable and I know I crossed my line but just the thought of you hitting her made me lose my mind… I am sorry. I really am because I love your daughter and if there is any beating that has to be done please do it on me… I don’t want to see her suffer any pain due to me… I am the cause of this.
Mr. Zanindi: son… leave my house right now.

This is not going the way I wanted it to
Me: please sir… I love your daughter… truly. What we did… what we did… it was all wrong.
Mr. Zanindi: I said leave my house right now
I looked at Fadz, she nodded. I couldn’t help wondering if she was going to get a beating… if her father was going to get her married to some other guy or what but either way I stood up and left the house and then just sat in the car… I waited, I don’t know what I was waiting for… my stupid mind thought maybe she would get out of the house and ran to my open arms telling me that it’s all over and her father has forgiven me. But I sat there until dawn but no one came out of that house.

I even got out and went to the door to knock but I couldn’t bring myself to knock. I just left the door and went back to the car again.
I must have fallen asleep because i was woken up by my phone ringing non-stop… it was mother.
Me: mom

Mom: Zenzie… where are you? Its 2am… why are you not home… and you are not even at the office

I grabbed the keys and started the ignition
Me: don’t worry I am coming home… I was at a friend’s place he is sick
Mom: hurry up but drive safely it’s not safe for a young man like you at this time of the night.

Me: I am sorry mom… but I am just about to arrive.

Mom: staying out this late is… Zenzie… just come home.
