Mr. Zanindi: I asked you a question… what the hell are you doing with my daughter
I really wished I had a better explanation than this. My mind drifted to the time another father asked me this question. I really wished I had a better explanation but I didn’t… I feared for what might happen after this.
Me: Mr. Zanindi….. I… I …we…


I was stammering like a stupid person. He turned his gaze to his daughter. She had turned pale when her father pulled me out of the car like he was going to beat the crap out of me.

Mr. Zanindi: Fadzai…. What are you doing kissing a boy in front of your father’s house
Fadz: dad… i… i…
She was also stammering just as I was… she looked so submissive and so vulnerable at that point I swear I could have tried to protect her with my everything but nothing was coming out of my brain on what I should do

I stepped in front of her… I don’t know why the hell I just did that and before my brain could justify my actions my mouth blurted out words i didn’t plan on saying

My heart swelled as I thought of the last time I went thought this route again. I raised my eyes to look at the angry man before me and he gave me a tight slap. I avoided touching my cheek but I couldn’t avoid closing my eyes to absorb the slap… I heard Fadz scream and when I opened my eyes she was covering her mouth with both her hands…. I had never seen her scared like this.

Fadz: dad… please I am sorry… we didn’t mean…

Mr. Zanindi: shut up….

He grabbed her tiny little arm and dragged her to the house while she threw little protests. I watched them disappear into the house then I hit the wheel of my car in frustration.

Why the f--k was this happening to me…?
Why the hell did it always happen to me…?
No… there was no way that I am going to let this turn out like the last time
I heard two women screaming at the top of their lungs inside the house… I rushed to the house and budged in without knocking only to find Fadz behind her mother while her father was holding his belt… they all looked at me when I entered and I felt anger taking over me… he was going to beat her just for kissing in front of her yard… is this man nuts? If I speak this moment I am going to disrespect her father so I went straight to her and grabbed her hand.

Mr. Zanindi: what the hell are you doing you disrespectful little brat

I pulled Fadz from the house but as soon as we were outside she stopped walking. I glanced at her and she shook her head. The father and the mother came out of the house. D--n he was sweating but I had to hear why his daughter was protesting at this moment.
Fadz: Zenzie… that’s my dad… I can’t… I can’t do this to him

I pulled her to the car and started driving leaving her parents’ staring at us… this parents seem to be the only thing that separates me from my source of happiness so they can go to hell.
