I smiled and took them to dad’s study. I inhaled the sweet fragrance they held. There was a note on the flowers. I put the flowers on the table and took the card. They are from Henry. A smile appeared on my face. He told Zenzele… a cold rushed through my body, I wonder how he must be taking this. I sighed and sat down.

I started by looking at the report that the accounted had gave me. I had resumed the plans of buying the airplane that my father wanted. Then I suddenly remembered that there is a truck function that my father’s PA talked about it seems my father never missed the show. I really know nothing about trucks and I have never heard about shows that involve trucks. I called the PA and made him in charge of it.

I checked the Emails. There was trouble at the border. The trucks were being held back for a few days while. I checked out the trucks that belonged to my father’s company… luckily there was only one truck that was held back and it was transporting diesel of some garage. I called the manager who dealt with trucks to deal with the situation then I forwarded her the email. Then I dealt some other few reports that came through the day for my approval. After I was satisfied I began with my very own work that I had to submit in the next few days.

While I was still busy with my work I heard o nock at the door. I smiled alone. Sometimes mother can be so modest. I answered for her to enter but then someone else entered. I quickly stood up.

Me: Zenzie…

Zenzele: Trish

Me: what are you doing here?

Zenzele: I want you to tell me the truth Trish… just tell me if what Henry told me is the truth.
I looked at his face… he was hurt and angry at the same time. I looked down knowing very well that I am also part of the reason why he is hurt today. I slowly nodded.

Me: I am sorry I only found this out after I came back from the honeymoon.

Zenzele: and you did nothing about it

Me: I was still trying to fix all of this when Emily was kidnapped and then things got out of control and then…

I paused and looked at him. His anger had cooled down. I sat down and closed my eyes. When I opened my eyes he was standing in front of me. I gasped and he brushed down my hair.

Zenzele: do you know how much I loved you.

Me: I know.

I whispered looking at him.

Me: but I guess we were never meant to be.

Zenzele: I hurt you… but he did worse than I could have done… you haven’t left him

Me: I just… I love him… he is my husband.

Zenzele: didn’t you love me?

Me: I did but at that time I was under pressure… I expected you to bhe my fantasy boyfriend… the one who would climb mountains for me but when I saw that scene…
I paused and looked down wiping away the tears that had settled in my eyes.

Me: I was beyond broken… I lost all the hope, the trust and you know who was there to restore it.

Zenzele: I still love you Trish.

I looked at him and he was staring right into my eyes he closed the gap between us, our forehead touched and my heart started to race… my mind trying to pull my heart away. I looked down and moved my head back. Then I took a deep breath.

Me: I am married Zenzie.

Zenzele: that guy ruined your life.
I stood up and walked to the other side of the table before I did anything wrong.

Me: I know but everything he did… it was all in the name of love.

Zenzele: if it wasn’t for him…. I am sure we would still be together.

Me: maybe
He stood up and headed to me.

Zenzele: Trish… he sat me up.

Me: Zenzie… that shouldn’t have been the case. You shouldn’t have let yourself get carried away in the first place… I am so sorry that things had to turn out this way.

Zenzele: so you are still going to give him a chance after this.

Me: Zenzele I… yes. I hope this doesn’t ruin the friendship that was building between us.
He held my shoulder so tightly and he kissed me… I froze for a moment then I responded. He stopped and looked at me.

Zenzele: I hope so too.

Me: no….
