I arrived at home tired. I took off my shoes at the door and headed to the couch. I saw white roses on a vase. They had a nice fragrance… I wonder why mom has suddenly started to buy flowers. She appeared from the Kitchen.

Mom: you are back

Me: and I am so tired. My boss is feeding me paper work nowadays… he doesn’t give me real cases to deal with.

Mom: I think he is doing you a favor sweetheart, you still got your own case to deal with.

Me: and then there is dad’s business

Mom: Sindia Express?

Me: yes… that one drains the energy off me. I have no interest whatsoever in transporting goods.

Mom: you have to choose someone who is capable of running the business… why don’t you do it.

Me: well I don’t know anyone who has the capability of handling such a business. Dad’s lawyer said I have to trust the person and the person has to be a Sindia.

Mom: I think your father was giving you this company.

Me: I don’t think so… otherwise he wouldn’t have married me off. I am no longer a Sindia

Mom: have you tried looking at your cousins… from your father’s side.

Me: we hardly keep in touch… I don’t trust anyone. I will just run it until I make up my mind.

She smiled and sat down. She looked so beautiful, it broke my heart that she has lost her husband at such a young age but since dad died she has completely changed… she is gaining weight and she has become lighter in complexion. She is dealing with this loss well than I am.

Me: you look good nowadays.
I said and her face changed… sadness clouded her eyes.

Me: mom, are you okay?

Mom: yes…

Me: no, you are not okay… what happened? Is everything alright?

Mom: yes… don’t stress yourself.

Me: mom, I am all you have… you don’t have to hide anything from me.

She slightly smiled and looked down.

Mom: I am bringing a soul into this world.
I gasped… does she mean…

Me: what?

Mom: I am pregnant sweetheart. I am two months pregnant.

My mouth dropped. Mom is pregnant? I really didn’t expect this but it can’t be… well it is possible, mom is only 39 years old but it’s shocking. I stared at her in awe.

Me: that’s great news… right.

Mom: I am bringing a fatherless child into this world Trisha what’s so great about that.

Me: oh mom…

I hugged her… I was still stunned but also happy for her, it hurts to see my mom paining like this and it was all because of…. I took a deep breath then suddenly something reminded me that I had lost my child while it was only 5 weeks old. Tears threatened to fall but I closed my eyes.

Me: mom… I am so happy for you. You don’t have to be sad.

Mom: your father didn’t even know about this.

Me: I am sure he is happy where ever he is

Mom: I just wish he was here

Me: me too… but mom bringing a life is a wonderful thing… you should be happy.

A tear dropped on her cheek and she smiled as she wiped it.

Mom: you are right.

Me: I am going to be a big sister

Mom: technically you already are a big sister… remember the twins.

Me: the twins are more like my friends.

Mom: okay.

Me: is that why you have bought flowers?

Mom: no… those are for you… you know how much I hate the scent that they bring. Take them to your room.
