My heart was pounding so hard. Tracy kept on hugging me and assuring me that everything was going to go well. I was in my wedding dress and this morning Tracy had plated my hair into thin braids then held them in a pony tail. We were in a car outside the church.

Tracy: Trisha relax… relax… Nothing is going to go wrong. I will personally make sure of it.

Me: Tracy… Something’s are beyond our control.

Tracy: I can’t believe you are telling me that… Are you serious? You know I make things possible.

Me: (smiles) I love you.

Tracy: babe you know I love you more. Now let’s go.

She opened the door and helped me out. She gave me my bouquet, dad took my hand and Tracy went in the church.

Dad: princess?

Me: dad (tears)

Dad: don’t ruin your make up sweetheart

Me: I dont care… I am not wearing eye shadow anyway.

Dad: I am pleased to see you getting married.

Me: why did you choose this family.

Dad: they are a good family.

Me: (inhales) I trust you

The double door opens and everyone stood up, the organ starts to play a song that sounds like a death march. And I slowly walk down the isle and dad has my hand. I see my little princess in a lacy pink dress. She looked so cute but she gave everyone a hard time in the morning demanding a black pencil dress. Rose and Elizabeth where in white lacy dresses besides her Troy and kevin were in white suites matching with their father and man was he so hot. He had that breath taken look on his face. For a moment there I imagined it was Zenzele up there and he is looking at me like I am his world.

Dad: you know that you will always be my daughter… Right. And nothing will ever take you away from me.

Me: I know…

Dad: and I love you

Me: oh dad…

I give him a hug we were in front of Henry now and I didn’t want to let go of dad. He kissed my for head and let me go. Henry took me by my hand and whispered.

Henry: our first kiss is on our wedding.
He was grinning and I shrugged. My eyes met with my mother and she blew me a kiss then I looked at mrs Tyson… Scary as usual..m dressed to her best…she looked like the first lady of some country. Then I looked at Henry… He had both of my hands in his hands.

Pastor: let’s start with a prayer.

Are you kidding me right now! He prayed and prayed and prayed. I finally opened my eyes only to realise that I am not the only one with open eyes.

Pastor: amen.

Me: (whispers) hallelujah

He started to preach. I wanted to sit down… Standing on six inch high shoes is not very comfortable besides… No one told me I will be attending a church service at my wedding. I think that took about an hour.

Pastor: let’s pray

Me: really

He prayed again. Briefly this time… When I opened my eyes dad was not at his seat. I looked at Tracy and she shrugged. Mom stood up and also went outside. She looked disturbed.

Pastor: if there is anyone who is opposing this mirriage… Stand up and speak now.

No one up and my mind drifted to Zenzele… This should be cue… Hold on. Why am I thinking about him on my wedding day.

Pastor: speak now or forever hold your peace.

No one opposes. I look at Tracy… She is looking outside and concern is written all over her face. What is going on. Suddenly I feel restless where the hell are my parents s shouldn’t they be here when I recite the vows. I look at Henry and start reciting after the pastor.

Me: I do.

I push the gold ring in Henry’ s hand and by the corner of my eye I see Tracy leaving. Something is definitely amiss. Henry holds my chin and turns my head to him then I give him a breef smile. He starts reciting his vows after the pastor.

Pastor: I Henry Pako Tyson

A Loud scream made everyone turn to the window it sounded like my mom’s scream… What the hell is happening out there. I leave Henry’s hands and rush to the window. My dad… Oh no! My heart starts racing. He was lying on the ground. Mom was kneeling down but she wasn’t by her side. Tracy was busy yelling at him. Two other kids were there and then I saw Zenzele. His hand. I stopped breathing… He was holding a gun. I looked at my dad again and screamed. If Zenzele shot my father I am going to kill him. I grabbed my dress up and ran outside. Every one followed me.

Me: Dad… Dad!

I kneeled by his side. I took a breath of relief when I realised that he wasn’t shot and he was still breathing. I looked up at Zenzele. He had his eyes closed and leaned on on a car.

Me: dad! Somebody call the ambulance.

Tracy: they are on their way. I stood up and went to stand in front of Zenzele.

Me: what did you do to my father?

Zenzele: nothing.

Me: you are lying… You are lying… Is this your plan of stopping the wedding.

Zenzele: babe…

Me: what did you do…

Zenzele: relax, he is being haunted by his sins

Me: what the f--k is that supposed to mean? That is my father
I was just about to start hitting when I felt someone pulling me from behind. I turned tgo look at him. It was henry. He pulled me in his arms and hugged me. I didn’t need a hug right now. I moved from him and went to my mother. She was way too silent.

Me: mom?

She didn’t reply me. Tracy kneeled besides me and gave me a hug. Tears started rolling off my cheeks.

Me: you said nothing was going to go wrong.

Tracy: I’m so sorry baby… I tried.

The ambulance arrived and they took both mom and dad and we followed behind in henry’s car. I looked at him and he looked more than pissed off. He was sweating like a pig and his veins were visible on his head.
It has been about two hours and we were in the waiting area and my mind wasn’t functioning well. None of the doctors were giving us feedback. Zenzele was there with the two kids who were with him. The girl kept on looking at me like she wanted to come over and start a chat. Tracy was by my side and Henry was no where in sight. I stood up and went to Zenzele.

Me: what did you do?

Zenzele: nothing?

Me: please don’t give me that I know you did something to him. It’s like ever since dad knew about us you have been on a mission to completely ruin my life.

Zenzele: please trust me… Its all his works that lended him in the hospital bed.

Me: why were you holding a gun.

Zenzele: its your father’s gun… I took it from him before he could hurt anyone.

Me: what!

Henry: I’ve brought you some snacks

Me: (signs)
