“How would you guys love to go shopping with Aunty Mable?” I asked Cynthia’s twins, eyeing them incredulously.

“I would love to.” Amos replied in his adorable tone.

I was in Cynthia’s bedroom dressing the twins up after bathing them.

“How about you, Alex?” I said, caressing Alex’s cheeks.
“I would like to.”
“Great!” I enthusiastically said. “So, your two be good boys and do as I say. You mummy’s sending me out to go do some shopping this afternoon and I’ve noticed how you guys have been shut inside the house for weeks.” I paused, glancing from Alex to Amos, making sure what I was saying was sinking in their little brains. “The deal is that when leaving, you guys should insist to come with me. Alex, I’ll buy you your favorite chocolate and Amos, the vanilla ice cream that you adore so much. Do I have a deal?”

The twins looked at each other and smiled. “Deal.” they said in unison, giving each other high fives.

“Oh how adorable.” I honestly said, pulling Alex and Amos into an embrace.

“Mable,” Agnes said. We were climbing down the stairs going to the living room.
“Mmmh.” I absent mindedly replied.
“Please don’t forget to buy my pads. I honestly don’t know how I could be as careless as not to have bought them the last time I had gone to Pick n Pay.” she sighed. “And my period’s due in a day!”
I flashed her a smile. “Agnes, I don’t have memory issues. Don’t worry, I’ll get em’ for you.”

“Thanks, love.”
She went straight to the kitchen and I went to the living room.

Nancy and Cynthia were seated on different couches. The twins on Cynthia’s laps, watching cartoons. Nancy was busy doing God knows what on her iPad.

“Am done.” I announced and everyone stared up at me.

“Ok.” said Cynthia, putting the twins aside and getting a paper from the table and handing it to me. “Here’s a list of what you need to buy.” she gave me some cash along with the list.

I glanced at the list not really paying attention cause I wasn’t going to Pick n Pay anyway.
“And yeah,” Nancy said, not glancing up from her iPad, “don’t forget to buy my lumanda.”

“No I won’t, boss.” I said, saying the word, “boss” with emphasis. “Am leaving.”

“Don’t take forever.” said Cynthia sternly.
I had just turned on the spot when I heard Alex say, “I want to go with Aunty Mable.”
“No, Alex. It isn’t safe to-”
“I wanna go too.” said Amos, cutting Cynthia short.

I stopped in my tracks and turned to face them, hoping against hopes Cynthia was going to agree.

“Don’t be stubborn, my babies.” said Cynthia, pecking the twins on the cheeks. “There’s a monster out there and I don’t want to risk your lives by letting you out.”

“No offense,” I warily said, “but haven’t the kids been confined in here for weeks? I think some fresh air might do.”
Cynthia glared at me and angrily said, “And who asked for your opinion?”
Nancy spoke up. “I think Mable has a point.”
“C’mon, you too?” said Cynthia defiantly. “You know Cathy’s out there and-”

“Oh, please!” said Nancy hotly. “Just let the kids go out for some fresh air. You can just ask one of the bodyguards to accompany them. Don’t tell me we’re going to hide from Cathy forever?”

Cynthia sighed and raised her hands in surrender. “I think you have a point.”
“Yeah!” said Alex and Amos in unison, going over to where Nancy was seated and pecking her cheeks.

Whatever demon had possessed Nancy today had done great cause it was because of her that my plan was going to be successful.
“Excuse me, can you stay here for a minute and watch Amos?” I said to the bodyguard that had accompanied us to Pick n Pay.

“Yes.” he hesitantly said. “But where are you going?”

“Alex wants to use the bathroom.”
“No I don’t.” said Alex at once.
“Yes you do.” I emphasisingly said, giving the child a bad stare.

“I wanna come too.” Amos said, looking up at me pleadingly.

Great, this makes things easier. “Alright, dear.” I said. I glanced at the bodyguard who was staring at me intently. “Can you stay here and watch the stuff?” I asked, pointing towards the trolley that was full of stuff we’d taken from different shelves.
“Sure.” he flatly said.

“Thanks. I’ll be back shortly. Amos, Alex, let’s go.”

And that’s how I jumped on a taxi with the twins to where my Altezza was parked.
“Aunty Mable,” said Amos in the backseat, “where are you taking us?”
“It’s a surprise.” I replied. My gaze focused on the road ahead of me. “Am certain you’ll love it.”

I then got my phone and sent Rodgers a text, “I need a chainsaw, tool box, cauldron, 2 liters of hydrochloric acid and a machete. Some tomatoes, oninos and spices. Do you think you can get me all this within 2 hours?”
Rodgers replied. “Already have most of the items on the list.”
“Great!”

30 minutes later, I was at the warehouse where I had braiid Justin alive. Using some sedatives, I sedated the twins and la!d them on an old and battered mattress.
It was time to give Cynthia a call using my private line and watching her reaction on my laptop which was on my laps.

“Hello, sis.” I said when she picked up.
“You witch!” she exclaimed. “what have you done to my twins?”

I couldn’t help but smirk. “Nothing.” I said flatly. “At least not yet.”
