Monster Unleashed - Season 1 - Episode 47

When dawn came, I couldn’t believe Cynthia wasn’t yet asleep. She had been crying since the time she had gotten the pics of Justin. Bored to death watching her unending grievance, I decided to turn off my PC and sleep. I was just about to do so when someone knocked on Cynthia’s door.
Odd, I thought. Who would want to see her at 3 AM?

“Come in,” called Cynthia hoarsely. “The door’s not locked.”
Seconds later, Jason and Nancy went in, closing the door after them.
Nancy went over to Cynthia, hugging her and comforting her.
“Shhhh,” she said, tears threatening to escape her eyes. “Everything will be alright soon.”

“It won’t.” said Cynthia defiantly, crying on Nancy’s shoulder. “Justin’s gone and he isn’t coming back. Do you know who is responsible for his death? Cathy.”
“Cathy?” fired Jason at once, “what do you mean? Cathy’s dead. She perished in the fire, we saw her!”
Cynthia broke the hug. “Did we now?” she sobbed. “Did we?”
She walked over to the dressing area and retrieved the envelopes that contained Justin’s pics. She went back to where Jason and Nancy were standing.
“I didn’t show you this one earlier because the police were here.” said Cynthia, handing Jason the photograph that had Justin’s chest branded with a message from me.
“No.” Jason gasped, shaking his head in utmost disbelief. “This can’t be true. Cathy’s dead. There’s no way she could have survived that fire.”
“Let me see that.” said Nancy hotly, grabbing the photo from Jason’s hands hurriedly.
Nancy recoiled, slumping onto the bed. “No!” she screamed, throwing the photo on the floor.

Jason hurried over to her and patted her back. “My love, what’s the matter?”
“Jason,” said Nancy, looking up at Jason’s face, “she’s the one!”
My heart skipped a beat.
“What’s she talking about?” I muttered, my eyes focused on the laptop.
“What do you mean, ‘she’s the one’?” asked Cynthia, sitting beside Nancy.
Jason nodded in agreement. “Yeah, what do you mean?”
“She’s behind our son’s disappearance!” exclaimed Nancy, tears streaming down her cheeks.
I couldn’t help but smile maliciously.
You right, baby, I thought. You’re so intelligent that’s why you were my secretary. Too bad you used your intelligence to do cunning stuff.

Jason sprang up at once like he’d just sat on a sharp pin. “No. That b---h!” he cursed through gritted teeth. “I’ll get her for this.”

“No offense,” said Nancy curtly, sniffing, “but how exactly do you plan on doing that? We don’t even know where Cathy is and if she still looks like Cathy.”
“What do you mean if she still looks like Cathy?” asked Cynthia incredulously.
“Because,” Nancy replied, sighing, “that fire was so fierce am certain it left her with scars all over her body.”
“Perfect!” Jason said excitedly. “Then that’s in our favour as we would recognize her easily.”

“I don’t know.” said Cynthia, shaking her head. “Cathy wouldn’t be as dumb as to show herself would she?”
Silence.

“We’re doomed.” Jason finally said, breaking the silence. “Am certain she’s out there on a vengeance mission and she won’t stop until we all pay. I mean, first my son and now Justin? Lord help us.”
I smirked upon hearing Jason’s last sentence.

“You’re right to call upon the Lord, Jason.” I mumbled, gulping my whisky, “But not even Him will save you from my wrath!”
Nancy said. “We should inform the police about what we’ve discovered.”

Cynthia shook her head vigorously. “And incriminate ourselves right?” she asked, a note of sarcasm in her tone.
“But what will we do?” said Jason worriedly, leaning against Cynthia’s wardrobe.
“I don’t know.” Cynthia replied.
“She kidnapped my baby and you guys are here saying we should do nothing?” said Nancy hotly, standing up and glaring down at Cynthia who was still seated on the bed. “Are you for real?!”
Cynthia abruptly stood up and said. “The lunatic braiid my husband alive. How do you think am feeling?”

“Enough!” Jason snapped. “Am the one that’s hurting the most here. Cathy kidnapped my baby and only God knows what she did to him and she murdered my brother. And you two are here bickering and comparing one another’s sorrows? Let’s come together and come up with a solution to the problem at hand.”

“I still insist we inform the police.” Nancy said, slumping back onto the bed.
“And I still insist we leave the police out of this.” scoffed Cynthia.

Shaking my head and with a snap, I shut my PC tight. I had watched enough and needed to retire to bed now and get some ample rest.
