Justin nodded and I helped him sign the papers. Justin was now groaning in pain.
I sighed. “See, follow instructions and we’ll all go home happy.”
“Cathy,” He pleadingly said, “you now have my shares. Please let me go.”
“Let you go? Did I hear you say I should let you go? Justin, you guys had literally left me for dead the other day and had turned a deaf ear to my pleas. What makes you so certain I’ll spare your pathetic life huh?”
“Because unlike us,” said Justin warily, wrigging, “you aren’t heartless. That I know. Please reconsider your-”
“Just shut up!” I yelled. The vodka was starting to take it’s toll on me.
I walked over to the tool box, got a driller and plugged it in.

Using the driller, I branded the following words on Justin’s chest, “REST IN PEACE, BROTHER IN-LAW. WITH LUV, CATHY.”
Justin had been screaming his lungs out as I drilled his chest but his cries were like melodous music to my ears. By the time I was done, Justin had passed out.

I got a samsung digital camera from my handbag and took pics of him lying on the pile of wood, words branded on his chest.
After a dozen minutes, Justin regained consciousness.
“Cathy,” he said, his voice cracking from the pain he was enduring. “You’ve delivered your message. You’ve had your revenge. Please let me go. I promise I won’t…”

The rest of his pleas sounded like gibberish to me as I opened the container of diesel and began sprinkling diesel on Justin’s body and the pile of wood beneath him.
“Cathy, please don’t do this.” pleaded Justin. “Have mercy, I beg of you, spare my life!” he was now sobbing.

Silently, I grabbed a lighter and flicked it on. I then stood before Justin.

I heaved a sigh. “Go to hell, brother in-law.” I said through gritted teeth. “You literally signed your death sentence the day you got acquainted with my twin. I won’t miss you though. Unlike you, I’ll stay here and watch your body burn to ashes. Rest in peace. My regards to the devil.”
“No,” Justin sobbed, “you’re the devil himself.”

“Congrats,” I sarcastically said, “you unleashed the devil in me. And this is the aftermath of your sins. Karma is a b---h huh?”

“Cathy,” screamed Justin in panic, “No!!!”
But I had thrown the ignited lighter on the pile of woods which caught fire instantly.
Gulping my vodka, I took pics of Justin’s body on fire. His screams distant and finally fading. The pungent smell of his burning flesh hitting my nostrils and almost knocking me unconscious.
When only ashes lay where Justin had once been, I closed my eyes and let the tears fall freely.

“It is done,” I loudly said, my eyes tightly shut, “one is gone. Three more left.”

The feel of the hot water soothed me to the core. An hour after burning Justin alive, I found myself at Best Western Plus Lusaka West Grand Hotel. I was now soaked in a bathtub having a bubble bath, a glass of champaign on the edge of the bathtub. As I sipped my champagne, I couldn’t help but smile.
“Justin is no more.” I thought out loud. “And I’ve given him a befitting death.”

The mere thought of how Nancy, Jason and Cynthia were going to meet their end also made me smile sheepishly.

After the bubble bath, I left the bathroom, a towel wrapped around my body. On the bed lay a pencil dress.

Am gonna wear that tomorrow, I thought.
Opposite the dress was an urn filled with Justin’s ashes. The thought of what purpose these ashes served also made me smile maliciously.

Slowly and enjoying every bit of it, I had my dinner. Chicken casserole, baked beans, fruit salads and a chicken sharwama I’d bought on my way here. After eating until I could eat no more, I retired to bed.
