Using the money that Mrs. Zimba had given me earlier that day, I rented myself a room at Zebra Guest House. The room cost about K250 so I planned to only spend one night in this guest house. The following day, I would go job hunting. At least with food on my table and a roof over my head, I would be able to devise a better plan concerning my revenge.

It was now past 8 PM, I had spent the last few hours mourning my mother’s death. She didn’t deserve to die like this. At least not just yet. But she was gone and would never come back. All thanks to Cynthia, Nancy, Jason and Justin.

What saddened me the most was that I had no idea where mum had been la!d to rest and as such couldn’t pay her grave a visit. Paying my last respect would have eased my pain a bit.

Wiping the tears away, I sat on my temporary bed.

Tomorrow, I thought. I’ll be out of here.
My phone buzzed. I guessed it was either Mr. or Mrs. Zimba.

“Hello?” I said, sniffing.
“Hi Cathy. It’s me, Mrs. Zimba.”
“I figured.” I replied.
“Have you managed to locate your family?” she asked.

“Yes.” I lied.
“That’s wonderful! So, how are they? Do you now recall your past?”
“No, I don’t. As for my family, they are out of town. But am waiting for them at home. I hear they’re due to come back tomorrow.”
“Great!” exclaimed Mrs. Zimba enthusiastically. “I’ll tell the news to my husband. Am certain he’ll be thrilled. I’ll give you a call tomorrow so that Mr. Zimba and I can drop by your place and see your family.”

“Ok.” I said.
“Good night.”
“Good night.”

After she cut the line, I decided to check my facebook account. It was crammed with lots of notifications, messages and friend requests. I went straight to my wall which was loaded with several messages. But what caught my attention were Cynthia’s, Nancy’s, Jason’s and Justin’s posts.

Cynthia: “My dear lovely twin. It is with a heavy heart that I write this. For twenty four years, we’ve been living happily together. But a few days ago, you disappeared into thin air. This shattered me to the core! It’s like I lost a part of me. Living is more than difficult without you. Even breathing hurts. Please come back sis, I miss you.”
“Hypocrite!” I said through gritted teeth, opening Jason’s text, “your wish came true, sis. I’ve come back to destroy you!”
Jason: “My soulmate. My wife to be. Where are you? I’ve searched every nook and cranny for you. I’ve left no stone unturned but it’s like you’ve disappeared into thin air. Please come back, your hubby to be misses you so so much. Will be patiently waiting for your return.”

I couldn’t help but laugh. “Another hypocrite!” I angrily muttered. “As they say, ‘be careful what you wish for.’ Am back, baby. And I promise you I’ll leave no stone unturned in making you feel the pain I’ve been going through lately.”
Nancy: “My cousin. No, my sister. Yes, you are like a sister I never had. All I say is that please come back. We miss you.”
“This b---h!” I thought aloud. “Your punishment will be special cause somehow you hurt me the most after Jason.”
Justin: “R.I.P sis-in-law.”

This time I just smiled. “No, dear. You are the one that’s gonna rest in peace soon.”
After reading the other posts on my wall, I changed my password to a random one that I wouldn’t recall hours later, logged out and switched the phone off.

I then tucked myself into bed. That night, I had weird dreams about me torturing all those that had hurt me.

“These dreams will come true one day.” I thought aloud as I checked out of the guest house.

I practically roamed the streets of Lusaka town in an attempt to find a job but got almost the same response everywhere I went.
