Monster Unleashed - Season 1 - Episode 27

“How?” chorused Mr. Zimba from the front. “Have you regained your memory?”
“No.”

“Then how will you find your way home?” asked Mrs. Zimba.

“My intuition will guide me.” I flatly said. “I’ve got a strong feeling I’ll find my way home.”
“I don’t think that’s a good idea,” argued Mrs. Zimba, “you’ll stay with my husband and I until we are certain you’re perfectly fine.”

After talking about the issue for more than a couple of minutes, the couple finally gave in. Mrs. Zimba then gave me her spare phone and the line she was currently using saying I should contact her in case I needed their help. She also gave me a K500.
“Use that money to get home.” she said.
“This much? May God bless you abundantly!”

She smiled. “What my husband and I have done for you is out of humanity. God saved your life for a purpose, dear. I hope you know that.”

“I do. And thanks once again, for everything.”
“You’re welcome.” said Mr. and Mrs. Zimba in unison. I jumped out of their car and got into a cab going home. Using the phone that Mrs. Zimba had given me, I tried calling mum but her phone was off.

No matter, it’s been four months! Anything could have happened to the phone.

After what seemed like an eternity, I arrived home. I paid the taxi driver and hurriedly got out of the car. I was practically racing to the gate when a voice yelled, “Hey!”

I stopped in my tracks, turning on the spot. On my right stood a man with a lawn mower in his hands. He was scruffily dressed and had unkempt hair.
“Who are you looking for?” he asked in a rude tone, glaring at my face like I were some piece of trash.
“Am looking for the owner of this mansion,” I excitedly said, ignoring his rude glares, “Mrs. Chilumba.”

He frowned. “Am sorry,” he said, “the Chilumbas no longer live here.”
“What do you mean?”
“After Mrs. Chilumba’s untimely death, her daughter sold the house and she and her cousin moved out.” said the man. “Poor thing, she couldn’t digest the fact that one of her daughters had gone missing. Probably dead I assume. She had an asthma attack and died.”

I shook my head. “No.” I muttered. I felt my knees go weak. I tried crying but the pain of hearing mum was no more was too much. My eyes betrayed me as no tears fell from them.
“Are you okay?” the man asked.
“Yes.” I forced myself to say, my voice cracking. “Thanks for the information.”
“But why were you-”
I began walking away from the gate.
“Wait!” the man called but I was gone.

As I roamed the streets of Kabulonga, a myriad of thoughts raced through my mind.
My mum, dead? My unborn child, dead as well. My company, gone. I have literally nothing! All thanks to Nancy, Jason, Cynthia and Justin. No, I can’t let them get away just like that.
People were now staring at my face and murmuring stuff to one another. It’s like I were an alien.

My appearance is their fault too, I thought. They are heartless! They practically left me for dead!

And then a feeling of revenge swept through every fibre of my being. It was so strong that it made me shiver. It’s like I was possessed by some demon.
“They’ll pay for this.” I muttered under my breath, wiping the single tear that had now run down my scarred cheek. “They’ll pay for everything. For snatching the company and wealth from me, for leaving me for dead in a burning cabin, my miscarriage, for mum’s death, for everything!” I swore to myself. “Cynthia, Nancy, Jason and Justin, your doom is coming!”
