Monster Unleashed - Season 1 - Episode 22

“You did me no wrong. You just happened to be a pawn in my game. Like in a chess game, pawns aren’t worth much, so are you. I admit you’re smart, but not too smart to have figured the charade that’s been going on under your nose these past few months. It’s a shame you’ll be joining your ancestors so soon.”

Cynthia burst out laughing. “It’s indeed a shame.”

Jason stood up, took a few strides towards where I was tied up and crouched before me. My tears began to fall freely now. Of all the betrayal tonight, Jason’s had hurt me the most. I had fallen in love with him, trusted him and given my body to him. And this is how he chose to repay my love?

I wanted to say something but I was suddenly tongue-tied. Jason spoke first.
“Am sorry.” he said in a low tone.
“For what exactly?” I asked, my voice cracking, “you practically used me, Jason!”
“Sorry babe but people get used daily.” he coldly said, “it’s a shame it had to be you. I must admit I began admiring your free spirit. Too bad I can’t reverse the past. Am so sorry, Cathy.”
“I loved you.”
“I know.” he said. “But I didn’t.”
“I trusted you.”
“You trusted the wrong guy.”
“I gave myself to you.”
Jason stood up. “People get la!d and dumped daily baby. You ain’t the first and definitely not the last.”

Nancy stood up too and flung herself onto Jason. “That’s my man.” she briskly said, snogging him.
I shut my eyes as I felt the tears fall more freely.

“Sorry, Cathy.” said Cynthia, grabbing a container that was lying on the floor. “But this is where your life ends.”
She removed the lid from the container and began sprinkling what smelled like diesel on the Morris chairs, the wall of the cabin and me.
“Cynthia,” I pleadingly said, “you can’t do this to me, am your twin sister for crying out loud.”
“Watch me!”

Seconds later, Jason grabbed a briefcase which had been on the floor and off they went.
“Cynthia! Nancy! Jason!” I called.
But they were gone. Moments later, I saw the small window of the cabin open. Cynthia’s head appeared in the small square.
“Cynthia,” I said warily, “please spare my life. You have everything already. Just spare my life.”

“For what? So you can run to the police and rat us out? Am not taking any chances.”
“I swear I’ll do no such thing. Am all mum’s got, please spare my life.” I pleaded.

Cynthia snorted. “She’s still got me. I’ll take good care of her. She’s my mother too after all…” She flicked the lighter on. “My regards to dad.”
“Cynthia, no!!!” I screamed.

But my pleas fell on deaf ears as Cynthia threw the lighter on the Morris chair that was on my far left and it caught fire immediately.
The fire began to spread wildly. I tried freeing myself from the chair but couldn’t.
“Help! Help! Somebody help me!” I cried, all to no avail.

The fire was so fierce and was engulfing everything in the room quickly. Soon, it reached where I was seated. I felt the excruciating pain pierce through my whole body as my clothes caught fire. I could literally smell my own flesh burning. Before I knew it, it was lights out for me…
