If my wife ever finds out I’ve got a sidechick, I thought. She’ll skin me alive!
My wife gave me everything I needed. Love, kids, you name it. But since the day I’d set my eyes on Mazuba the farm girl, I had gone nuts! I forgot she was way too young for me and began to pursue her. Months later, she was mine. So once a week, I drove to her farm and spent some intimate time with her in my car.

So here I was, coming back from Mazuba’s farm. Ahead of me, I saw a procession of cars headed where I was headed.
Odd, I thought. Since I started coming here, it was the first time I’d run into cars on this narrow path. But who would come here at this hour?

I glanced at my wristwatch, 11:58 P.M.
Are they ritualists? My God, what have I gotten myself into? Mazuba look what you’ve gotten me into. If these guys notice me, they’ll kill me!

So I pulled up on the side of the road. For security reasons, I decided to leave my car and hide behind the bushes. The cars were now out of sight.

I sighed, am such a coward! What type of man gets this scared?
I couldn’t help but laugh at my own cowardice. I was about to leave my hiding spot when I heard distant cries for help.
I turned on the spot. WTF? There was smoke being illuminated into the air. Something was on fire. The cries came again.
Sprinting, I arrived at the cabin in the clearing which was on fire. The door hadn’t yet caught fire so I kicked it open. I took off my jacket and used it to ward off the smoke as I rushed to where the human was. The human was literally on fire! With the aid of my jacket I managed to put out her clothes and untied her from the chair she had been binded to. After much effort, I carried her out of the cabin. She was badly burnt.

I decided to rush her to the nearest health centre.

“What happened to her?” one of the nurses asked as another team placed the badly burnt woman on a stretcher.
“I have no idea.” I replied at once, hurrying after them into the private clinic. “I just happened to stumble upon a burning cabin in some bushes and heard her screaming for help. Do you think she’ll survive this?”
The nurse shook her head. “Only God knows. These are third degree burns and-”
“Take her to the operating room.” A doctor instructed and the team of nurses rushed the woman to the O.R.
After waiting for two hours in the waiting area, a Chinese doctor approached me.
“To my office,” he said. “Mr?”
“Zimba.” I quietly replied, standing up, “Mabvuto Zimba.”
I followed the Chinese man to a small office.
“Take a seat please.” he politely said, doing so himself.
I sat. “How is she?” I asked.
“The operation was a success.”
“Thank God.” I exclaimed.
“How is she related to you?” asked the doctor.

“We aren’t related.” I flatly said.
“You aren’t?”
“No.”
“You’re lucky this is a private clinic. If it were a government hospital, they would have referred you to the police. This is a police case.”
“I know.”
“But how exactly did you come across her?” he asked.
