I was now trembling. The blood on Cathy’s face was too much. Apparently, my blows had given her several cuts.
“Does she have a pulse?” said Justin, crouching down besides Jason and placing his head on Cathy’s chest. “She’s still alive.” he exhaled in relief.
“But that spells trouble, doesn’t it?” I managed to say, pacing up and down.
“Yeah,” Cynthia hurriedly said, “Let’s finish her off.”

“My God!” Jason exclaimed. “Are you guys even listening to what you are saying?”
“What the f--k, Jason?” I shot up. “Don’t tell me you’ve fallen in love with her!”
“Of course I haven’t!” replied Jason at once.

We held a mini meeting and decided to rub salt in Cathy’s wounds when she regained consciousness and then later set the cabin on fire. Justin went over to his car and brought a lighter and a container of diesel.
“We’ve come too far to lose to this brat.” Cynthia said, placing Cathy on a small Morris chair. “We have to get rid of her. Nobody will miss her anyway.”
“And the Njobvu guy?” I asked, to no one in particular.
Justin replied. “We’ll give him his K50 000 and get him off our backs. Just because we’ve decided to kill Cathy doesn’t make us serial killers.”

“That’s not what I meant.” I said quietly.
“Give me your belt and necktie.” Cynthia told Jason.

“There’s really no need to tie her up.” said Jason defiantly, “She’s way too weak already.”

“Justin,” said Cynthia, giving Jason a bad stare, “seems your bro’s fallen in love with this little b---h. You give me your tie and belt.”

Justin did so without hesitation and Cynthia managed to bind Cathy to a chair. Now the four of us stood over Cathy, watching as she slowly regained consciousness.
