Monster Unleashed - Season 1 - Episode 6

•••••

Let’s say no to ghost-reading! Holy ghost fire!!!
.
As I descended the spiral staircase that led straight to the lounge, I saw Jason pacing up and down. His back turned to me.
This fool… I’ll make sure I get our land back and forget him!

I cleared my throat when I stepped into the lounge and Jason turned on the spot. One of our house helps emerged from the kitchen and said to him, “Would you like a drink, sir?”

“No thanks.” said Jason flatly, intently staring at me. I knew I had him wrapped around my finger. The house help scuffled out of the lounge as I approached Jason, smiling.
“You look splendid!” exclaimed Jason, taking my right hand into his and planting a kiss on it. “Shall we get going?”
“Sure.” I said, blushing.

I took a second glance at him as we headed for the hallway. When I had met him earlier that day, he was clad in an expensive suit but now he was all casual, grey jeans, white muscle t-shirt and white snickers. This guy’s body was well built and his cologne was mesmerizing!

My God, I hope I don’t end up falling for him. The plan is simple, get him to fall for me and then get him to hand me my land on a silver platter. Sleep with him if need arises. And then dump him!

As we stepped over the threshold into the hallway, someone cleared their throat behind us. Jason and I turned on the spot.
“Jason?” said Cynthia, descending the stairs.

“Hey Cynthia, you cool?” Jason replied enthusiastically.

I eyed both Jason and Cynthia incredulously. “You two know each other?” I said to no one in particular.

Cynthia, who was now standing before us snorted. “Cathy,” she said, giving me a bad stare, “unlike you, I know a lot of important and influential people.”

Cynthia was clad in her air hostess uniform so I guessed she was headed for work.
“Actually,” said Jason, staring from Cynthia to I, “she’s my brother Justin’s girlfriend.”

Oh ok, didn’t see this one coming!
“Wait a minute,” I said, scratching my chin and snapping my fingers excitedly, “you mean Justin’s your brother?”
“You know him?” said Cynthia and Jason in unison.

“Just met him this morning–” I told them how Nancy and I had run into Justin that morning.

“Well,” said Cynthia, adjusting her scarf, “am running late. Unlike others,” she eyed me badly, “am not my own boss. And yeah,” she flashed Jason a smile, “congrats on your win. You truly deserve that land.”

I could see Jason worriedly staring at Cynthia. I didn’t blame him, what sort of sister rubs salt in their twin’s wounds?
“Well,” said Jason uncomfortably, “thanks!”
“You welcome.” said Cynthia, by-passing us and heading for the door.

“Shall we leave now?” I said to Jason, a surge of anger boiling within me.
“Sure!” said Jason briskly and he held my hand and hand in hand, we walked out of the house.

“What sort of music do you like?” said Jason, revving the engine.
“Any.” I said at once, my eyes focused on Cynthia’s Porsche which was exiting the yard, Jason following suit.
“Are you sure?” he asked.
“Yeah.”

Jason played Zayn’s ‘Pillowtalk.’ keeping the volume low so that the song sounded softer than it is.

“So,” I said quietly, breaking the silence that had been in the car since we’d left Northmead, “where are headed to?”
Jason flashed his breathtaking smile and the dimples appeared on his cheeks, making my knees go numb. “That my dear, is a surprise.”

I scowled. “Am not a fan of surprises.”
Silence, except for Westlife’s ‘Written in the stars’ which was now playing.
Not liking the silence, I said, “What made you join real estate?”

“The answer to that is simple, my dad. He made sure both Justin and I took after him.”
“That’s nice,” I said, feigning a smile, “speaking of your dad, I heard he’s out of the country.”

“Oh yes. He’s been working too hard. The man needs a break!”

Jason and I talked about nothing in particular as he drove to Kabulonga.

“Welcome to my ramshackle.” Jason said as he pulled over in front of a massive burglar barred gate.

Is this guy nuts? He calls this beautiful home a ramshackle? My God, this house is bigger than our mansion!

“Oh my,” I gasped, “what a beautiful sight this place is!”
Jason grinned. “Thanks.” he said, pulling a remote control from his b----t pocket and opening the gate.

Jason parked his car in the garage and got out, hurriedly opening my door from outside.
“You are such a gentleman.” I said.
“Thanks, am humbled.”
Jason held me by the hand as he ushered me into the house.

I gasped upon seeing the lounge. The interior decor was superb. In fact, superb is an understatement. It was more than marvelous!
“Take a sit.” said Jason, ushering me to a cream white leather couch.
I sat down. Jason left me seated and went into a room that I guessed to be the kitchen.
“You went to fetch something?” I called.
“No.” Jason called back, emerging from the kitchen and putting on an apron. “The dinner will be held here.”

So apart from being handsome and the CEO of Banda and Sons Company Ltd, Jason is a chef too? Wow! What other surprises does he have in store for me?
