Unbreakable Love - Season 1 - Episode 17

Hours turned into days, days into weeks and eventually into months. Two months and Adela had not woken up in a comma. Stevie had dropped some weight. He hardly ate and spent most of his time at the hospital with Adela. Seeing her laying on the bed unable to move her body really broke his heart. He blamed Miley and her mother for all that had happened. His mother tried to apogise to him but he was NEVER interested. Gloria had gone back home late that afternoon when Stevie sat on the chair holding Adela’s hand.

STEVIE

“Do you remember the walls that stood between us like unbroken shells enveloped in substance while deep down from our realms like that of an unborn emotion. When we lay gently breathing a new birth in a mother’womb. We exchange smiles which always stir up questions awakening a sense of insecurity within us. Sharp pains that are oozing from our palms with shy handshakes.

Our hearts willing to live and yet our emotions seem to always make it skip a beat. You are the silence in between my thoughts. My calm state whenever I am troubled. The space between upon a time and lived happily ever after.

My memories of you are like fresh roses watered from my tears of joy. New tomorrows surrounded by perfect yesterday’s as our love grows. I never tried to protect you cause I love you not once cause I also needed protection from your love as well. Unbreakable love I promise of an unchanged better tomorrow. I wanna be around you like a circle with endless points. Everyday I wake up to Good morning obviously I can’t stop thinking of you. How are you? How is the morning? These questions are the easiest to cross my mind. I am feeling lazy to get up am still dreaming of love junctions you know the place we kept bumping into each other dreams.

My emotions simply can’t be put on keyboards and typed but you are definately my chosen type. I never looked for the flaws. As we go through our tree of live. And even we found them together. We would still be wise and choose somewhat blind and turn deaf ears. For in shadows hiding is a tint of sunlight. I love you Adela.”

He kissed her hand and wiped away the tears that had escaped. He was about to leave the room when Adela murmured. He went back to her.

“My love. You awake!” he exclaimed with happiness. “Doctor!” he ran out of the room calling the doctor.
“Can you wait outside sir?”
He waited outside the room pacing up and down. Suddenly Gloria came in holding a plastic bag.
“Auntie, she is awake.”
“Oh my goodness!” they embraced.

The doctor came out a few minutes later and attended the two.
“This is a miracle. She is awake indeeded.”
“Can we see her?”
“Hmmm yes but take it easy with her. She just woken up.”
“We will!”
He walked inside the room and she sat on the bed.
“Adela, my love,” he said getting close to her. “You are awake,” he was about to hug her when she pushed him.
“Who are you? Auntie Gloria! Who is this man?” she asked with a hint of confusion in her voice.

Stevie and Gloria just looked at each other.
“You don’t remember him,” said Gloria as she sat on the bed beside him.
“No!” she responded
“Do you remember what happened to you?”
Adela stared at Gloria.
“I am going to call the doctor. This can’t be happening,” he walked out of the room.

The doctor came back with him and were made to wait outside. They took Adela. They had to do a scan on her. In few hours he came back.
“What is wrong with her?” asked Stevie.
“She lost her memory. It’s called selective amnesia. A type of amnesia which the victim loses certain parts of his/her memory. Common elements that may be forgotten relationships.

Sometimes people cannot remember what happened recently but can remember their childhood for example. We can also block memories of painful experiences and that can be selective,” explained the doctor.

Stevie sat down on the bench hands on his head.
“Adela does not remember me because of what she saw. She was hurt and I was the cause. Is she going to get her memory back?”
“Well there is a hypnotic amnesia, when a patient…well it’s usually incomplete, meaning that the patient do not forget everything. Then anterogate amnesia a patient cannot remember any new memories the trauma causing the memory loss. She is going to remember, it’s just temporary.”
“When can she be discharged?” asked Gloria.
“I think tomorrow. We have to check on her but the good thing is she didn’t sustain internal injury. If you may excuse me I will have to go back to work.”
“Thank you doctor,” said Gloria.
“It’s all my fault Auntie Gloria. She doesn’t remember me. Two months in a comma I waited for her. But now she…”
“Shhhh, don’t worry son. She will remember you. Let’s go and see her,” she held his hand and they walked in.
Adela sat on the bed.
“Auntie, you came back with the weird man. I don’t like him . What is he doing here? Look at him, she glared “Hey! What are you doing here?”
“I came to see you my love. I missed you so much.”
“I am not your love,” she frowned
