Hired Bride - Season 1 - Episode 28

“Just apologize to your son! Is
that so hard to do?!” Delilah
barked at her son in demand.

Edward ran a hand down his face
and groaned.

“Mama, if you came here to yell
at me, you can just leave.” He
complained as he stood from his
spinning chair and took a file
from the filing cabinet.

“I don’t understand. You barely
see your children and here you
are making a big commotion.

Can’t you just be happy for him?
He’s getting married for Pete’s
sake!” She added causing another
groan to escape Edward’s lips.

“That’s the point, Ma. He’s
getting married! Married! I’m not
too sure about this. Since when
did my son like the idea of
commitment. I just don’t want
him to get into something that is
hard to get out of. For sure, I will
have to clean up after his mess
again.”
“Do you not realize that maybe,
just maybe, your son actually
wants to get married and fall in
love?” She argued. “You
shouldn’t be the one talking about
commitment. If I am not
mistaken, you were in the same
situation your son is in right now.

You didn’t believe in the concept
of love either. You said it was all
psychology. But everything
changed when you met Victoria.

Maybe, Kelsey’s Mason’s
Victoria.”

Edward’s brows were furrowed in
confusion as he took in the last
part of what Delilah have said. “I
guess the saying is right. The
apple doesn’t fall far from the
tree. Think about what I said and
please, please make up with your
son.” She finally said as she stood
up from the couch in Edward’s
office and left the room.

Edward heaved a sigh of relief
once his mother was out of the
door and went back to work. He
just really hoped that his son
knew what he was doing.

Mason came home after a long
day at work with a full house
again. His sister, mother, and
grandmother were all there to his
surprise. They were seated by
the living room and seemed to be
focused on a book in front of
them.

“Good! You’re home!” Victoria
announced looking over her
shoulder. She beckoned him over
as he loosened the tie around his
neck. He strolled towards them
and tried to sneak a peek on the
book that they were so engrossed
about. Their heads were all
huddled around it so he couldn’t
really see the content of the
book.
“What’s going on? What is that?”
He asked in curiosity as they all
looked up from the book to him.
“Oh, we’re picking some designs
for your wedding.” Ella
nonchalantly replied and Mason’s
brows furrowed in surprise and
suspicion. His sister knew exactly
that it was a fake wedding, he
just didn’t know why she was
going along with it as if she was
really into it.

“Honey, why didn’t you tell me
you guys are planning to get
married within two months?”
Victoria asked. “A wedding is not
just something you throw. You
have to prepare everything and
the least thing we wanna do is
stress Kelsey out. You should
have told me earlier so we
could’ve plan everything
already.”

Mason’s eyes moved from his
mother’s, to Kelsey’s terrifying
ones, to Delilah’s evil smirk that
was plastered on her face. “You
did say you are going to get
married within two months,
right? Your mother and I were
just chatting and the wedding
came to topic.” She innocently
mentioned.

“Yes.” He said through gritted
teeth. “That’s right, in two
months.” He announced with a
big, fat grin on his face as if
challenging his grandmother.
“Great! We’ll get started right
away!” His mother cried out in
delight as they turned their
attention back to the book. The
three King’s were all pointing at
the book and suggesting which
one would look better and
elegant. Kelsey looked up and
found Mason’s scrutinizing eyes
watching her intently.

Mason beckoned his head to the
side, signalling her to go to the
kitchen for a talk. He left before
she could respond. She excused
herself and said that she was
going to get them some drinks
and strolled towards the kitchen.

Once the door was closed, Mason
paced back to her and trapped
her in between his body and the
counter behind her. “Two
months? The wedding’s in two
months?!” He quietly yelled in
frustration and disbelief.

Kelsey was intimidated by his
angry features as his eyes turned
a shade darker and she felt like
he was burning a hole through
her skull. “I’m sorry, I didn’t know
what to say. Your grandmother
started talking about it and she
said we’re planning on getting
married in two months. What am
I suppose to do? Say no?” She
barked back.

Mason’s head leaned closer and
she felt felt the hitched in her
throat. She coward back and tried
to stabilize her breathing as they
were practically sharing and
breathing the same air.

Mason stared intently at her and
his eyes started roaming down to
the bridge of her nose, to her
pink, luscious lips. Kelsey gulped
audibly in nervousness and
avoided his eyes at all costs.

Mason leaned closer and their
lips were literally three
centimetres away. Mason could
practically taste her sweet lips
and Kelsey could smell his
intoxicating manly smell.

Mason literally had to bite his lip and
clutched his hand into a fist by his
side. He had to stopped himself
from grabbing her by the nape
and kissed her senselessly until
they ran out of breath.

“Just make sure you follow as I
tell you.” He whispered and
Kelsey felt and smell his minty
breath that brought tingles all
over her body. It made her body
shiver and her knees were
starting to get wobbly that she
literally had to hold onto the
counter to prevent herself from
falling over.

Mason forcefully pulled himself
away and started walking
towards the door. Before he could
exit, he turned back to her and
warned her. “Oh, and don’t fall in
love with me.” He reminded her
and left.

Kelsey was left breathless and
confused. She felt as if someone
was crushing her heart inside her
chest. The words echoed in her
head and she couldn’t help but
think that it was too late. She had
already completely fallen for him.
