When Arturo entered his private suite in Enigma House that morning, he met the last person he expected inside the living room, sitting with his head cast down, his elbows on his labs, and his fingers interlinked.

El Crow.

He sat there, his breaths barely heard and his heart barely beating as he swam in his own silence.

Arturo’s hand slipped away from the doorknob, slowly. Seeing his son like this, he knew thighs weren’t smiling.

El Crow was still mad at him cos of how he had been refusing to tell him about his birth, and he didn’t expect him to visit this soon.

But seeing him silent like this, he knew this visit meant war.

He could smell his anger in the air as he stepped inside quietly.

“Bray….”

He nearly called his real name, AGAIN, But his head snapped up. His peppered eyes caught him, and Arturo’s mouth screwed shut.

“El…” He muttered.

It’s not normal for a father to be scared of his own son, but in this case, it’s normal. He knew what he gave birth to. He knew the kind of blood monster living in that body.

So…he threaded cautiously.

He made sure space was between them before he stopped.

“El….” He started. “That night that you unmasked and caused the great flood across this city, was it to kill Roselle?”

El Crow didn’t look up.

“El…” He called again. “Was it you? Tell me she tried to kill you first, and that’s why you killed her. I’m already having a hard time exonerating you from Darius’s death cos I know you’re innocent, but this one? You have to tell me the truth. What did she do to piss you off to kill her brutally like that? What really happened?”

“Why not….” El Crow looked up, slanting his left brow with a gravelly sick look in his orbs. “Tell me how I was birthed first. Maybe it’s hightime you came clean to me.”

Arturo swallowed.

“El .. ”

“Stop chanting my fake name,” El Crow muttered in a controlled tone as if resisting his own anger. “You should notice how my voice is low, and how I’m not standing from this couch. It’s because I’m trying to restrain myself, cos if I stand, I don’t know what I might do to you…”

Arturo swallowed again.

A wicked glint crossed El Crow’s eyes. “Maybe I should give you rat poison again like I did when I was 6. Or maybe I should pour agrochemical inside your wine like I did when I was 7. Wait…I could release sarin gas inside the kitchen and lock you inside that same kitchen like I did when I was 8 or stab your feet with my hunting knife like I did at 9….”

“Stoppp!!” Arturo shivered, getting the flashbacks of the tortures as his son listed the inhumanity. He swallowed again, but it was emptiness this time as his throat already dried up. “It’s the power talking inside you right now, El. You can’t let it take over again…”

“Then…” El Crow looked up, lulling his head to the side. His eyes rolled along with the lull. “Tell me, how did you meet Marisa, marry her, impregnated her with me, and why the fûck is the power giving me illusions, messing with my mind!!”

He got up suddenly. “I accused her wrongly. It messed with my mind to the point of accusing her wrongly, and now I’m fucking blocked!”

“Who?” Arturo mumbled. “Who are you talking about?”

“Answer my damn questions and stop trying to cover it up with another topic!!” El Crow yelled. “How did I come to life? Tell me something!”

“I didn’t impregnate Marisa with you,” Arturo looked down as he talked as if the words were too heavy which was partially true.

“You didn’t?”

“Yeah…” Arturo gritted. “Before you were birthed, I ran a secret conglomerate which was the largest in the country back then. No one knew I owned it. It was operated under intense secrecy. I was also a rich fucker back then,… El…”

Arturo looked up.

“But after I married Marisa, there was a day i faced a challenging setback at the conglomerate. For weeks, it was unsolvable. I thought it was the end for me, so I got drunk alone. The drunkenness was so bad I even forgot my car at the bar…

“I was staggering around the streets of New Orleans that night when I saw it…” He sighed.

“Saw what?” El Crow frowned.

“An abnormally large egg…” Arturo blinked. “It looked normal. It was hidden on top of a pine tree branch, and later I found out I wasn’t supposed to see it, but yunno…my sixth sense was awakened by my drunkenness that night, so I saw it…”

“And?” El Crow urged.

“It was actually placed there by Jethro. It was the lab egg of his biggest project ever. The scientific process was over, so he left it on that cursed tree to receive magical and spellbound nutrients directly from the night stars for several nights. And I was unlucky to see it…”

“So what happened after you saw it?” El Crow asked impatiently.

“Can I…keep the rest for another day?” Arturo sat slowly. “I don’t want you to get overloaded.”

“I hate you,” El Crow muttered. “I can’t even kill you if I want to.”

“It’s the power always driving you to want to kill me, not you yourself. You know this…” Arturo blinked.

“I’m being patient with you cos I know what my anger might cost me, but keep this safe in your memories; that the next time you tell this story, you better make it complete…”

With that, he went for the door.

“Who was the person you accused wrongly, El?” Arturo asked.

El Crow paused close to the door.

“A girl?” Arturo asked. “Bellatrix? No…it can’t be her. You wouldn’t be this pissed if you accused her wrongly. Tell me, who?”

El Crow turned.

“You really think I’d stay and tell you that story when you wouldn’t even tell me what happened with the silly egg you saw?” He hissed.

“Then what about Jethro?” Arturo asked. “I told you to marry her daughter for a reason. You have to find a way to kill him. That’s the only way you can have control over your mind if you later unlock totally.”

“I know,” El Crow said dryly. “And I’m working on it. It’s not your stuff to worry about at all.”

Then he stepped away.

Arturo tapped his show on the floor repeatedly.

“If only I hadn’t gotten drunk that night,” he mumbled. “If only…”

His phone made a low bleep, and he picked it up to see ARDEN GLOBAL dominated billboards in twenty major countries at the same time.

Thanks to their Milan runway season last week. Now, more enemies. More haters. And more lovers.

He somehow pities the other modelling companies though. Cos ARDEN overshadows every damn agency, and every model has a dream to model for ARDEN of course.

The Global in front of ARDEN isn’t for decoration. They’re really global.

Courtesy of his handsome son.

He definitely can’t wait to show the world one day that El Crow is the sophisticated owner of ARDEN.

He smiled widely, dropping the phone. He raised his leg and took off his right shoe, viewing his foot.

On the foot, the stab scar from El Crow’s hunting knife when he was nine was glaring boldly.

Arturo caressed the scar, shutting his eyes. “I deserve much more…for doing that to you…”
