Then, she looked him in the eye.
“You better be prepared, cos if any evidence lands on my hands, connecting him to the death of Darius or Roselle, I won’t come here to rant, I’ll simply go on a rampage.”
She stepped back and went down the front staircase.
“And I advise you to bring all your best to the second tournament,” Midnight said with puffy eyes. “Cos a lot will die, and die, and die.”
With that, he followed Satan down.
Castle came close to Arturo who’s still standing rigidly.
“Are you ok, Boss?” He asked. “What did Satan whisper to you that made you freeze like that?”
Arturo entered the house without replying.
“Boss?” Castle followed.

[Marisa’s Manor – Daybreak]
Skylar came back to the manor with nothing but emptiness in her mind.
She swung the door open by herself and stepped inside, meeting the parents in the living room.
Looks like they’ve not left the living room since yesterday at all.
They got up immediately.
“Skylar!”
Marisa came out of her piano room with her stewards too.
“Talk Doll?”
Skylar didn’t take her eyes away from the parents at all.
“Marisa told you that I went through in Satan’s hands, right?”
“Everything!” They nodded. “And we’re already planning a case.” The father rushed to her.
“We’re not madly rich parents, but Ma has promised to help us. We’ll bring Satan down before month-end, we promise,” the mother nodded.
“If you still don’t believe them, you can easily go check with any tattoo shop and see if their fox birthmarks is fake or natural,” Marisa said.
“You’re part of the four owners of this city.” Skylar faced her. “You can easily pay every tattooist to tell me their birthmarks are natural.”
Marisa sighed.
“Skylar…” The father held her arms. “What do you want us to do? We’ll do anything for you to believe us.”
“Don’t do anything,” Skylar said, still so cold. “That’s what I want.”
The mother nodded, and together with the father, she hugged her.
Skylar didn’t hug back even as their warmth enveloped her.
She didn’t.
There’s this feeling of uncertainty she can’t shake off, into confirm if they’re real or not, she’ll have to test them.
So…she hugged them back slowly.
Marisa smiled by her door.
Her stewards smiled with her.
“Do you wanna go spend time together first?” The mother asked. “Like…do the things we couldn’t do with you? Eat ice cream and—”
“I hate ice cream,” she cut in.
“Oh…then….
“But for your sake, I’ll eat,” she said.
The parents hugged her again, both smiling like they just conquered the unconquerable world.

[A Salon]
Blade literally ran inside, scanning the building with his eyes as he halted by the door for a while.
Rosita mentioned the saloon storeroom, so he asked for the storeroom from a staff.
He was shown the way, and he continued his rushing over.
He crashed into the storeroom door, opening with his body.
Rosita stood in the middle of spoilt clippers and swivel chairs and electronics materials.
The room smelled like grease and gasoline, but who cares.
He walked into her arms, and she engulfed him in a breathless hug.
“I missed you… Blade…”
He kissed her neck. “I do…more…”
She kissed his neck too, tightening the hug and breathing him.
When they pulled away, he saw the settings on the ground like a picnic.
Burgers, milkshakes, juice and pizza and hotdogs… sandwiches.
So many of them, set on a fancy mat.
“I genuinely didn’t think of this!” He laughed shortly.
“C’mon! I prepared it for us.” She shrugged with a grin.
He kissed her, and she grinned heartily again.
They settled down to eat with her head on his laps, the disturbing buzzing of barbing clippers carefully locked away outside.
