★
She quickly held his face, stroking his jaws with her thumbs.
“I won’t go to Marisa. Yeah I won’t believe the parent shit. Don’t take this memory away! I need to know you as what I need to survive!!”
“It’s not me. It’s the power itself,” he whispered back, jaws locking. “The power erases the memories of everyone who sees me using it.”
“El….” She called his name for the first time, shaking her head. “No….no…. El..no….no….El…”
And like that, drowsiness took over her. She fell to his chest.
“El…”
He quickly held her to himself and looked around. The rain and storm wasn’t calm. It was brutal, crushing buildings into each other.
It had already become a flood.
Now he needed to mask back up.
He lifted Skylar at once… carrying her into his veiny arms.
This time, he’s not going to Bellatrix. Intimacy with an Apex to mask up doesn’t always mean sex.
Lately, he had learnt that ntimacy starts from a kiss.
Even better if it’s in the rain.
He brought his lips down to her face, but he changed direction from the lips to her chest slowly.
He slightly pulled up her top.
Then, he placed a deep kiss on her right n1pple, licking the ring.
The rain stopped as if it was listening to his doings which was true.
He head to his car which was parked by the side of that district road, threw the door open with his shoe and settled her inside easily.
The rare leather seats received a splash of water from the rainwater on her skin, and her scent wandered around the car, soaking in.
He took off her boots since they were now wet. Afterwards, he raised her legs to the seat and lowered her body.
So she was laying down.
He rounded the car and hopped on the driver’s seat. His eyes caught his ringing phone on the second seat.
It’s ‘Boring Prude’ calling.
He threw his head back to the backrest, shutting his eyes softly.
After he heard the sharp yell from the crowd earlier, and his ears recognized it as Skylar’s voice, he had traced where it came from, and he saw Roselle tossing Skylar into a truck by the orphanage road.
He had ran back to the orphanage to get his car and trailed her here.
If he hadn’t, she’d have wrecked more than havoc. She’d have killed Skylar.
And Inferno was bold enough to take their benefits and give them to her?
He darted his tongue out to kick his lip ring, then he opened his eyes.
He’s sure Roselle wouldn’t survive it.
No. It’s a certain sureness.
If Roselle survives what he did to her, then he wouldn’t mind getting caught by Jethro, he’s going to unmask again and kill Roselle again and again.
Enough with the stupid soul-bond.
Enough with her always hating on Skylar. If anyone has the right to hate on the cumslut, then it’s him.
Only him.
Yeah, he got close to Roselle and even stalked her to get her number back then when Darius was alive, but it was never because he liked Roselle.
Devil forbids that.
Of all the Osborne siblings, Roselle had always been his least liked.
He stalked her cos of a reason known to just him alone.
A secret he’d take to his grave.
He looked at unconscious Skylar at the backseat, and his hand stretched to that back, nearly stroking her wet skin, but he held back and gulped down before facing the front.
“Fuck…” He cussed under his breaths, covering his face with his palms and trying to chase the aftereffects of the unmasking away from his body.
Now is a very dangerous time for him, cos masking can only be done twice to conceal. If he makes the mistake of unmasking again, then he’s gonna get caught.
Now, he’s gonna have to be cautious.
He’s gonna have to become careful to a fault and not risk this shit.
He took his palms away from his face when his phone screen lit up again.
Boring Prude…
Again.
He doesn’t wanna hear her voice.
She’d surely call him baby or hubby. The two pet names he always felt like cutting her lips to feed them to her father whenever he heard them.
He drove out of that area into the foggy streets, and when he got close to Dread House, he dropped Skylar in front of a closed coffee shop.
He turned around to leave, but he came back after two steps.
He took off his blazer and covered her exposed legs.
It’s funny how whenever he wears a blazer over his singlet these days, Skylaar Vox takes them somehow.
Second blazer gone.
He got back in his car and drove away as fast as he could drive.
—
Jethro was in the middle of the city again after losing the rain signal.
He stayed beside his car, resting on the closed door with the hottest stick of tobacco on his lips.
Second time he’d be losing the lead. Seems like he only has to wait for whoever it is to unmask for the third time to catch him finally.
But he’s not sure if he can wait. He needs the powers like yesterday.
Now he regrets putting the masking setting on the ApexPlus gene when he was creating the egg. The purpose of that setting was because he planned to launch ApexPlus powers two times before officially starting it’s use.
Now he regrets deeply.
Cos if the masking wasn’t part of the settings, he’d have caught the motherfucker since long ago.
The fact that he’s in this city with him is the most annoying part. If feels like he’s being mocked by his own project.
His own puppet.
Angrily, he threw down his tobacco stick, and his suit hung in top of his body with the force of it.
He adjusted his suit, his mind reeling back to Ayana’s words.
That he only needs to make a fire to summon Inferno.
He needs that foolish entity now. And needing someone like Inferno even felt like an insult.
Inferno wouldn’t be able to stand on par with him if he had his powers.
There’s a reason the ancient Maddscientist was feared across all kingdoms in the ancient years.
He was that monster.
But now, what has to be done has to be done, so he decided.
He took off his suit and brought out his lighter. He lit up the suit and threw it on the wet asphalt to burn.
It looked like the fire would die out at first, but it flicked to life and burned, illuminating that road and beyond.
Left in his undershirt, Jethro watched the burning suit with the deepest shade of monstrosity in his orbs.
He chanted Inferno’s name in his mind, but till the suit burned to ashes, there was no manifestation.
Jethro kicked the ashes of the suit with his shoes, feeling more insulted. How dare he not answer his summon? That lowly entity?
His guarding staffs arrived in two more cars, all bowing at his feet.
“Sir, the city search has been completed. No other roaming Apex in this city except your wife and Young Miss. The search was clean.”
“And where were those two when it was raining?” Jethro asked.
“Young Miss was at the orphanage with El Crow, but your wife’s location is still unknown,” they answered.
“Skylar’s location is unknown?” Jethro’s eyes went low.

[Aftermoor – Mist Court]
Court of mist was Inferno’s place of casual rest in the realm of nothingness. It was a soulless building, rooted somewhere in the woods of Aftermoor.
No shape. No form, but somehow, it’s still a earthly building, only visible to those with a working sixth sense.
The walls had centuries-old scratch from giant nails that looked like it was done by abyssal animals.
Angry, breathing red and fire burned on the roof, on the floors.
Red upsidedown mirrors occupied half the second walls, and chilling mist covered covered the mirrors.
In the middle where there’s a bleeding black stone, Roselle lay limp on the with blood leaking out of almost every hole in her body.
Inferno brought her here, but he wasn’t concerned with her yet.
He took care of himself first—of his roaring head.
He’s at his fire cellar, drinking every elixir he could get his hands on, pouring every liquor he could take down his throat, but none worked.
The memories of what he saw El Crow doing was starting to vanish from his head. Even as a high entity, he couldn’t fight it. He couldn’t hold it down. He couldn’t manage the damage. His eyes was still gone.
His eye that was pierced with a sword shard, it wasn’t working. He had one working eye now.
It had never happened before.
Him? Affected by another entirely?
Even when he was still in hell, he was one of the three most respected devil’s angels, so what now?
A new entity has a hold on him?
This is the most ridiculous thing ever.
What kind of power does he posess?
He should have suspected when he had his heart on the right side when Skylar stabbed him.
He got a hold of the smallest vial containing the strongest elixir in his cellar, but it still didn’t work.
He rushed to a closed door in that room. The door of an adjoining room.
On the door, Damned Soul was carved with fog-spitting blackwood.
Inferno leaned on the door and whispered in a low voice…
“Hear me, and hear me well. Keep this memory for me. El Crow is…”
He stopped talking, not knowing what to say next.
Memories gone.
He slammed his head on the door, and his fire burned through the wood, leaving a tiny hole.
From the tiny hole, an unidentifiable eye peeped out. “Is what?”
“Go back to sleep,” Inferno grunted and left the area.
He went back to the black rock where Roselle lay. He crouched beside her and felt her lifeline.
Zero. Gone. Dead.
The mist of this court has the ability to bring the dead to life, but it didn’t work on Roselle. Not even the healing ability in her could save her life.
Inferno.jumped down from that rock and took a complete human form—a really beautiful old woman in blue with overgrown grey hair.
She walked to the mist mirrors and swabbed her arm on a portion.
On that mirror, she saw how Jethro summoned an hour ago.
“I can’t stand his arrogance,” she muttered, leaving the wall.
“A messenger!” She called.
A hellhound came in form of a masked man with a burnt right arm.
“Take her.” She pointed at Roselle. “Deliver her to anywhere in the world where her family would find her at. Her chapter is closed.”
The hellhound bowed and took Roselle out.
Inferno walked to the court mirror again, but this time, she checked out her eyes out confusedly.
Only one eye worked.
“Why is my right eye gone?”

[Enigma House]
Everyone was talking about the rain.
The downpour that became a flood and storm that crushed buildings and floated cars and carried humans.
There is currently a record of fifty-two missing humans in the city, probably carried by the flood or they were trapped in the crushed houses.
It was a noon of disaster, and now as dusk set in, the news was still fresh.
“When noon suddenly became night, I had to hide. I thought something supernatural wanted to happen!”
“Considering the number of witches in this city, especially that Ayana, I wouldn’t put it past her. She was probably testing new voodoos.”
“So the missing people are gone just like that? What about the houses?”
“C’mon. Missing people is not a new occurrence in this city.”
Bishop arrived with Blade and Kent by his sides. He insisted on leaving the clinic, and no one could stop him.
His appearance finally took the mysterious rain talk away from the mouths of the Enigmas.
Attention shifted to him.
“Yo, Bishop, are you ok?”
“Why are you back already?”
“Shouldn’t you still be at the clinic, healing better?”
“I’m fine,” Bishop answered them. “I’ll heal completely here.”
“Are you sure?” A girl asked with folded arms behind the crowd.
Bishop blinked at her.
“Wait… you’re..”
“You don’t know me?” She pointed at herself. “We’re just fifty-something in this house, and though we get new faces every week, but my face is remarkable…” She frowned.
“She’s that girl that was raped by her boyfriend,” Kent whispered.
“The one that Lovato said her body belonged to her boyfriend that day!” Blade added immediately.
“Oh!” Bishop smiled, guiding his tummy with his arm.
“Now you remember?” She nodded.
Bishop smiled softly again, and Kent suddenly pushed him to the girl.
Bishop looked back at him and Blade with wide, cursing eyes.
“You both should talk,” Blade winked.
“Meet us later, and careful with your tummy,” Kent added.
They both went up floors, leaving Bishop with the girl.
Bishop couldn’t even look her in the eye as she got closer.
“Oh, I see… you’re a shy guy…” She mocked with a chuckle.
He looked up a little.
“I heard you went to report my rapist ex-boyfriend to Boss Arturo, and that’s why he was banished from the team,” she said freely.
“Yeah.” He nodded. “Twerps like him don’t deserve a career.”
“They don’t deserve to live too, cos I killed him after he was banished,” she said with a smile again.
“What!” Bishop looked up.
“Joke!” She laughed. “I said that to make you look up, and it worked!”
“You don’t look like a local,” he noticed, shyly directing his eyes to the floor again.
“Yeah. I’m a Slavic girl. Though, my mother is the only Slavic. My father is from Britain. So…I’m Slavic and English at the same time,” she explained quickly.
“Oh…” He sounded.
“And what if I told you I’m from the British royal family? But I ran away from home cos I wanted to explore?” She whispered suddenly.
Bishop looked up again with scrunched brows.
“Another joke.” She laughed smoothly. “To make you look up again. Wait…is your shyness that bad? You can’t even look at me!”
“Girls are bad,” he said.
She shrugged. “Yeah. I’m bad in the baddie way, and Skylar from Dreads is another baddie. Personally, I think the two of us are the only baddies in this city. I mean… look at the tallness!” She turned around.
“You like Skylar?” He asked.
“Yeah!” She admitted. “We can’t have anything to do with Dreads, but they didn’t say we can’t admire them.”
“You talk a lot.” Bishop shook his head slightly.
“And where the hell is your crush Lovato?” She asked.
“Not anymore,” he immediately said.
“Seriously?” She gasped, punching the air. “Thank Buddha! The day she said that trash about how my body belonged to my boyfriend, I wanted to kill her. Her or Princess Charlotte of Britain, I dunno who I hate most.”
“You hate Princess Charlotte cos Lovato likes her?” Bishop blinked.
“No!” She frowned. “I hate Princess Charlotte cos of a complete different reason. Lovato is not that important for me to hate whoever she likes.”
Bishop nodded.
“Hey, Bishop! You’re back!” A known voice hollered suddenly.
“Oh..oh…she’s here,” the girl muttered, looking disgusted.
“What’s your name?” Bishop asked.
“My English name is Louisa. My Slavic name is Svetlana. But I prefer to be called Svetlana,” she responded with a palm to her chest.
“Svetlana,” Bishop repeated before turning to leave.
Behind him, Lovato stood with Senior Castle like a wife.
“Are you good?” Castle asked.
“Yeah, Senior Castle.” He nodded. “Thank you for the visit.”
“Just rest adequately,” castle said, and Bishop finally entered the house, totally ignoring Lovato.
“Did he not see me?” She muttered, going in with Castle.
Svetlana let out a sigh, resting her elbows on the balcony banister.
“I never joke…” She sighed again. “I killed my rapist ex-boyfriend, and I’m a royal blood exploring.”
“Night trainings commences in ten minutes!!” The announcement echoed loudly in the VAD.
“Yes!!” She yelled energetically, joining the rush to the training lab.
