{Ivory’s Private Residence – Night}

Duane’s mouth returned to her skin, chasing the sweetness of the wine down the bôôbs, and Ivory’s fingers curled into his hair, holding him there, unwilling to let the moment end.

“Baby…” she moaned again, arching into him.

He hummed against her skin, the vibration sending a fresh wave of heat through her, and continued his slow exploration, taking his time with every inch he’d claimed, refusing to be rushed.

Their bodies moved together in the dim light of her room, the city glittering faintly through the curtains, the two of them lost entirely in each other, in a rhythm that had nothing to do with employer and employee anymore, nothing to do with rich girl and poor boy, nothing to do with any of the labels either of them had once used as weapons against the other.

Tonight, none of that mattered.

The kissing deepened, hands roaming, breath tangling, and somewhere in the back of Ivory’s mind, a small, quiet voice reminded her that she’d sworn off exactly this — this vulnerability, this closeness, this dangerous unraveling of every wall she’d built.

She silenced it. Just for tonight, she silenced it completely.

Duane’s mouth encircled her bôôbs again and she let out a throat mo@n, hands tangling in his hair,pulling him closer, her eyes are drowsily closed, she hasn’t felt anything like this before and she wants more of it, it’s this proper with her driver?. She cares less.

Duane bit on her nîpple again, licking the flesh around it before trailing his tongue down her chest, to her stomach, encircling her bellybutton with his tongue before returning his mouth to her n8pple, kissing hard while pinching the other nîpple teasingly around his fingers.

“Gosh, Duane…, gosh..baby…” Ivory moaned again biting into her lips.

“Geez, you are damn…sweet” Duane grunted increasing his pace. Their lips locked afterwards.

{Celeste’s New Residence – Same Night}

Celeste sat at the kitchen table, stacks of naira spread out in neat, careful piles, Luis beside her, both of them counting with the kind of focused delight that came from genuinely not believing their own good fortune.

“We made so much sales today,” Celeste said, shaking her head in disbelief as she finished her count. “I don’t understand how this is happening so fast.”

“People just love your food, Mama,” Luis said simply, stacking another pile of bills. “That’s all there is to it.”

Celeste smiled, warmth blooming in her chest. “I hope so.”

“Oh, guess what,” Luis said suddenly, setting his stack down, excitement creeping into his voice. “I made some friends today. At school.”

“Already? Tell me.”

“There’s this girl — Eloise, she’s really funny, and her friend Jason, he’s hilarious too. And—” Luis paused, a small grin tugging at his mouth. “Hazel Bennett’s in my class.”

Celeste’s eyebrows shot up. “Hazel Bennett? As in—”

“Ivory’s little sister. Duane’s boss’s sister.”

“Small world,” Celeste said, laughing softly. “Is she nice?”

“She’s…” Luis considered the question, his grin widening. “She’s a lot. Loud. Dramatic. Kind of hilarious, actually. She held my arm the whole way to the cafeteria like we’d known each other for years.”

Celeste studied her son’s face carefully, noting the faint flush creeping up his neck. “Is that so.”

“It’s not like that,” Luis said quickly, though his ears had gone slightly red.

“I didn’t say it was like anything,” Celeste said, biting back a smile, and went back to counting her money, letting him off the hook for now.

{Morales Mansion – Same Night}

Maeve arrived home late, the marks of the evening’s activities carefully concealed beneath fresh clothes and a layer of makeup she’d reapplied in the car.

She found Ron already in their bedroom, seated at the edge of the bed, phone in hand, his expression distant and calculating.

Neither of them spoke. There was nothing left to say that hadn’t already been screamed, thrown, or shattered between them over the past few days.

Ron’s mind churned with plans, each one darker than the last. Duane Brooke needs to disappear from her life, he thought, jaw tight. One way or another. He’s the only thing standing between me and getting Ivory back where she belongs.

Maeve, settling onto her side of the bed, pulled out her phone and opened Tyler’s Instagram profile for what had to be the tenth time that day, scrolling slowly through his posts.

Most of them featured Abigail — Abigail laughing at some private joke, Abigail asleep against his shoulder on a flight, Abigail’s hand intertwined with his in a photo of matching rings. Maeve scrolled past all of it, her eyes lingering only on him, on the curve of his jaw, the easy confidence in his smile.

He’s perfect, she thought, something possessive twisting through her chest. Absolutely perfect. And Abigail doesn’t even deserve him.

Her phone buzzed with a new message, and her heart leapt before she even checked the sender.

Mom: Landing tomorrow morning, baby. Can’t wait to see you.

Maeve’s face lit up despite everything, a genuine smile breaking through for the first time all evening.

Finally, she thought, relief flooding through her. Someone who actually understands me. Someone who’s actually on my side.
She’s going to help me bring Ivory down, Maeve thought, already planning. And Abigail too. Both of them are going to regret ever standing in my way.

{Abigail’s Mansion – Same Night}

Abigail flew into Tyler’s arms the moment he stepped through the door, practically knocking him off balance with the force of her enthusiasm.

“You’re here!” she said, muffled against his chest.

“Where else would I be,” Tyler laughed, wrapping his arms around her fully, lifting her slightly off the ground.
He’d brought groceries, and within the hour, he was in her kitchen, sleeves rolled up, moving through the space with practiced ease while Abigail perched on the counter beside him, stealing fries directly off his cutting board every chance she got.

“Hey,” Tyler protested, swatting lightly at her hand. “Those are for the meal, not for snacking.”

“They’re for me too,” Abigail said, popping another one into her mouth, grinning unrepentantly.

“You’re impossible.”

“You love it.”

“I do,” he admitted, laughing, and tickled her side just to hear her shriek and swat him away, both of them dissolving into laughter that filled the kitchen with warmth.

When the food was finally ready, Tyler insisted on feeding her himself, ignoring her protests that she was perfectly capable of using a fork.

“Let me spoil you,” he said simply, and she relented, letting him feed her bite after bite while she watched him with something soft and unguarded in her eyes.

Afterward, he studied her for a long moment, something appreciative flickering across his face.

“You look really sexy tonight, you know that?”

“Tyler,” Abigail laughed, flushing.

“I mean it.” He stood, pulling her up with him, his hands settling at her wwaist “Come on.”

He suddenly carried her into her arms after she was full taking her upstairs, and the moment they crossed into her room, his lips found hers, claiming them in a slow, deep kiss that left no room for anything else.

{Ivory’s Private Residence – The Next Morning}

Duane woke before her, careful not to disturb Ivory where she lay curled beside him, and slipped quietly out of bed.
He decided, somewhat impulsively, that he wanted to cook. Not just for himself. For her too.

He moved through her kitchen with the same effortless skill he brought to everything, chopping, seasoning, plating with practiced precision — eggs done three different ways, fresh fruit arranged carefully, pastries he’d found ingredients for tucked in the back of her pantry, a pot of coffee brewing that filled the whole kitchen with warmth.

By the time he finished setting the full spread across her dining table, the sun had fully risen, golden light spilling through the windows.

Upstairs, Ivory stirred awake, reaching instinctively for the space beside her and finding it empty. She sat up, confused, calling his name softly into the quiet room.

No answer.

She got up, wrapped herself in a robe, and made her way downstairs — only to stop short in the doorway of her own dining room, staring at the elaborate breakfast spread out before her.

“What is all this?” she asked, genuinely stunned
.
“Breakfast,” Duane said simply, pulling out a chair for her. “Sit.”
She sat, still slightly bewildered,” now you’re suddenly being sweet” She saud and took her first bite cautiously.
Her eyes fluttered shut.

She ate with genuine, unrestrained appetite after that, working through the plate methodically, giving him an appreciative thumbs up between bites, unable to fully mask her delight.

“This is really delicious,” she admitted finally, setting down her fork.

“The meal I had last night was better, YOU though,” Duane said, deadly serious, though his eyes danced with mischief. “Nothing beats that.”

Ivory’s face went scarlet as the innuendo landed. “You’re so silly.”

“I’m honest,” he corrected, grinning.

She threw a piece of fruit at him. He caught it easily and ate it, laughing.

{Golden High – Morning}

Luis arrived early enough to actually take in the school properly for the first time, having rushed through the gates the day before without a chance to look around.

The campus stretched wide and green, manicured lawns bordering pathways lined with tall, mature trees that cast dappled shade across the walkways. The main building rose several stories, its glass-and-stone facade catching the morning light, flanked by two smaller wings that housed the science labs and the arts department respectively. A large fountain sat at the center of the courtyard, students already gathering around its edges, chatting before the first bell.

It’s nothing like my old school, Luis thought, taking it all in. Not even close.

He was still staring up at the main building when Hazel appeared beside him,

breathless from jogging over.

“Morning!” she said brightly, throwing her arms around him in a quick, unexpected hug.

Before he could fully process it or respond, she’d already pulled back.

“Good morning,” she said again, cheerfully, and turned to jog off toward Eloise, who she’d spotted near the fountain.

“Come on, let’s get to class!”

Luis stood there for a second, mouth slightly open, watching her go.

“You good?” Jason asked, appearing beside him and clapping a hand on his shoulder.

“Yeah,” Luis said, snapping out of it. “Yeah, I’m good.”

“She does that,” Jason said knowingly, steering him toward the classroom. “Hits you like a truck and then just leaves before you can say anything back. You’ll get used to it.”

“I’m not sure I want to get used to it,” Luis muttered, though he was smiling as he said it.

They fell into step together, heading toward class, Luis’s mind still lingering on the warmth of that unexpected hug.

{Bennett Group of Companies – Late Morning}

Arthur and Diana emerged from a lengthy press conference, both looking slightly drained from the barrage of questions about Ivory’s award win.

Once they’d settled into the car, Diana pulled out her phone and dialed Abigail’s number.

The call connected quickly, and the two of them talked for nearly twenty minutes — about the baby, about Abigail’s plans, about nothing in particular, the kind of easy, meandering conversation mothers and daughters fell into naturally.

But when the call ended, Diana’s smile faded slightly, replaced by something quieter, more contemplative.

“She’s still not with her husband,” Diana said softly, more to herself than to Arthur. “She didn’t say it directly, but I could hear it in her voice. She’s lonely.”

Arthur grunted noncommittally, still scrolling through something on his own phone. “She’ll manage. She’s a Bennett.”

“Being a Bennett doesn’t make loneliness hurt any less, Arthur,” Diana said, a note of sharpness creeping into her tone.

He glanced over at her, something in her expression giving him pause. He said nothing further, letting the silence stretch as the car pulled back into traffic.
