[Inside the Halazia]

This place is Tobias’s favorite place to spend his alone time whenever he wants that quiet in his head.

Built specially for his breaths.

It’s the only room he allows himself to disappear into whenever rage threatens to consume him.

A shallow black granite pool that’s his calves-level stretched across the chamber, it’s water is kept pleasantly warm always. The smooth river stones embedded into the pool’s floor gently massaged the soles of his feet with every slow step he took.

Discreet hydrotherapy jets created soft currents around his ankles, easing the tension from his body without disturbing the room’s silence.

Thin streams of cool mist drifted from concealed vents within the walls, carrying the earthy scent of smoked oud, and a faint trace of rain-soaked stone.

Cradling a glass of whiskey in his hand, Tobias has been pacing through the water for long, measured minutes, the rippling reflections dancing across the obsidian walls.

Pacing here in the shallow waters has a way of calming him whenever he doesn’t feel like smearing someone’s blood. He might be a sucker for blood, but that shit is only beautiful when it’s still fresh on his hands, and that’s why he wipes his hands after some minutes when it gets sticky.

He drank from his whiskey again, reading through his phone texts.

Coast is clear.

They can move the first batch to the safehouse tommorow, but he’s not the type who believes silly horoscopes, so he’s putting his mind on the possibility of a burst.

He’s sure something will happen on the way. Something always happens.

He pocketed his phone and drank from the whiskey again.

“Saint is here to see you!” The voice intercom on the wall announced for the fifth time.

He dropped his whiskey glass on the room mantle and imagined Seraphina’s finger on the red icon again, swiping and ignoring him.

He laughed lowly with his chest as he stepped out of the room.

The Odds at the entrance stepped aside quickly.

“What can I do to make you feel better, Rose?” Migos asked instantly. “I can go into the city, kill a few people and bring their blood to soak your feet in. That alone is therapy.”

“Migos,” Tobias sighed. “I’m fine. Don’t tempt my bloodthirst.”

“Or should I make the scapegoat at the park regret it?” Yalda asked.

Tobias faced her, interested. “Now that you mentioned it, go ahead. You can’t stop till she passes out, and make sure you make it kinky.”

“Trust me,” Yalda smiled.

Tobias pulled off his suit jacket and handed it to Migos, then he left the corridor shirtless.

[Oddsion Park]

The park alone is wide enough to build a decent house, stacked with cars of different range and sizes, warm moody lightning and glass environment like the Oddsion itself.

Estelle has been hiding in this park since yesterday when she traced Tobias’s car from the church, thanks to the tracker she planted on his car.

She sneaked into this place easily, and it was so difficult to walk under the shadows of the sprawling Oddsion before she got here.

All that’s left is an opportunity for her to go in and introduce herself and her interest, but she can’t seem to stop staring at all. She has been staring at the Oddsion and counting the cars since yesterday.

It’s otherworldly.

This kinda place exists in America? And it’s not in the news?

She saw the Whitehouse a number of times in the news, and this place dwarfs the Whitehouse.

Staying in the middle of the cars makes her feel like she’s getting choked by the invisible hands of money. She can’t breathe.

“Fûck, if I can just get into their circle. If I can just get…”

The lights in the park went off suddenly, and she fearfully got up from her squatting position when darkness sucked up her environment.

“What the hell is—”

Her words got cut when unseen hands gripped her by the shoulders, dragging her backwards.

“Who’s….where are you…. leave me alone!!! Where are you taking me? Leave me alone!!! Help!!!! Father! Father, help!!!!!”

Her shoes left her feet, and her foot began dragging the ground, peeling, bleeding, adding to her tribulations as she got taken further into a darkness deeper than the park.

She was thrown down, and a dim light was put on, hitting her face.

She’s in a small room with different torture equipments hung on the wall, surrounding her like ghosts.

It looks like a slaughterhouse.

Estelle’s heart exploded.

Towering above her is a tall lady who looks brusque and mean even as she gave her a gummy smile.

“Y…you…. you’re a part of them!”

“Of course…” Yalda smiled wider. “And I was ordered to make your session kinky and… interesting.”

“What are you gonna do to me?” Estelle shook her head. “I did nothing wrong! I did nothing wrong!!”

“Attaching a tracker to Wrath’s car was what? Something rewardable?” Yalda batted her lids.

“I…I was—”

“Sneaking into this place and hiding like a thief in the park was something great?” Yalda laughed. “You really thought you’d come in here and we wouldn’t know? Every car in here detects tracker, and every inch of the Oddsion detects strangers entry and sends pictures to the walls.”

Yalda pressed a black button by the wall, and like hundred of Estelle’s pictures showed up on the walls, capturing the moment she entered the compound till she got to the park.

Estelle’s eyes widened.

“I…” She swallowed. “I just wanted to be a part of the circle!! Please…. please don’t kill me.”

Yalda ignored her and dialled Jude’s line, quickly on video.

“Video?” Jude connected.

“Here, look at her…” Yalda turned the camera to Estelle.

“Estelle?” Jude frowned.

“She sneaked in here, and I have orders to…break few bones in her body. I’m so eagar.” Yalda said.

“No…Yalda…” Jude started, worried. “I know she sinned, but don’t kill her. Please, don’t take her life…”

“Jude!!” Estelle shouted. “Jude, please…. please save me! Please!!!”

“Yalda,…” Jude repeated.

“Don’t worry, she’ll only pass out.” Yalda sighed and ended the call.

She picked a bat from one of the wall shelves and swung it once, twice….

“No no no no!!!!” Estelle cried even before the bat met her.

Yalda brought the bat down to her rib—hard and merciless.

“Noooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” Estelle’s screams began.

[Oddsion Dinning]

Spacious and quiet with long dining table made from polished black marble at the center beneath soft pendant lights, the dinning is surrounded by black leather chairs with clean, modern lines.

The table was set with matte black porcelain plates, smoked crystal glasses, polished black stainless steel cutlery, and neatly folded charcoal napkins. Everything looks expensive and perfectly arranged, in it’s place.

Saint sat with his half-eaten meal of noodles and his phone as he chatted extensively with Tino. They’ve been on it for few minutes now.

Saint: Why the hell are you asking when I’ll be returning? You choose not to follow me there.

Tino: Follow you to the house of your brother who almost killed me?

Saint: But you’re still alive, dawg.

Tino: But he still almost killed me. I was wrapped with cellotapes like a gift of doom and was shot!

Saint: But you’ll love it here, trust me. It’s a dark paradise, especially the grave fog skin treatment.

Tino: Grave fog…. You know what? Just return early and let’s practice for tommorow’s race.

“You’re still hooked up on your friendship with that boy?” Tobias’s voice made Saint look up.

Tobias sat on the chair across him in that dinning room, deadly as ever.

Migos stood behind him.

“Toby!” Saint dropped his phone, smiling deep. “Now I have to book appointments before seeing you? I should have visited often when you were still in church.”

“What do you want?” Tobias leaned on the table, taking a mug.

Migos filled it with Earl grey tea, and Tobias had a little sip.

“Someone was in my apartment earlier today when I wasn’t around.”

“The cameras said?” Tobias dropped the mug.

“No cameras,” Saint responded. “And before you scold me, I hate cameras around me and you know it.”

“Then why the fûck are you telling me when you’re not ready for a damn solution?” Tobias leaned back.

“Maybe because I just wanna see you?” Saint blinked.

Tobias stood immediately, wanting to return inside.

“Now don’t be like this!” Saint stood. “I’m not Dean the liar, don’t be cold to me too!” He protested.

Tobias halted, eyes stilling.

[Tobias’s Age 9]

The twins celebrated their ninth birthday just yesterday, and one of the gifts the parents gave them was exclusive bicycles from a auction.

Tobias was preparing to go for a test ride with the bicycle in the graveyard behind the compound, alone.

He spends most of his time here, gathering butterflies and spiders since he has no playmates.

He balanced his plastic helmet on his head and strapped it beneath his chin. The strapping made his face sting, there are too many bruises on that face, bruises from his fights.

He has no friends, but at school, Dean’s friends are all against him. They target him always, and they always get beaten, but they never learn, cos they come back.

Two of them got broken knees, and one got a large gash on his head just last week, all from Tobias.

Tobias got on his bicycle, but before he could move it, Dean appeared, blocking the bicycle and pulling the ends of the handlebars.

“Give it to me!” He demanded.

“Why would you have my damn bicycle?” Tobias retorted, calm.

“Cos I deserve it!” Dean claimed. “I don’t know why our parents would even think you deserve one when you’ve never topped our class! I got tired of my bicycle, and I want this!”

“Stop it!” Saint appeared, looking frail and sickly and weak. He pointed at Dean. “Stop it already! You and your friends always try to bully him at school, I’m glad he broke their knees and head. Now you want his bicycle?”

“Stay away from this, Saint. Even you have better grades than him. If anyone deserves this bicycle, it’s you!” Dean insisted.

He went for Tobias’s bicycle handlebars again, trying to wriggle it out of his hands.

Tobias moved the bicycle, and it pushed Dean away, landing him to the ground with a cut on his palm and a bruise on his forehead.

“Mummy!!! Daddy!!!!” He cried loudly, tears crawling out of his eyes. “My…my head….”

The St. Graves couple who’re just arriving from a burial in their black outfits appeared, and their attention fell on Dean on the ground.

“Dean?” The father crouched.

“Dean!” The mother did the same.

Seeing the blood on Dean, their faces went up at once, accusingly.

“Tobias?”

“I was only saying I want us to exchange bicycles, but he pushed me, and now I’m wounded…” Dean cried.

“Tobias!” The mother scolded sternly, black lips flaring like a witch’s. “Just last week, we payed half a million fine cos you broke a classmate’s head, now it’s your brother?”

“Toby never starts it!” Saint defended quickly. “They’re always the starter, then they play victims, and Dean is their ringleader! He was trying to take the bicycle! He was…was….”

He lost his breaths, gasping, panting.

“Saint!” The mother ran over to him, splitting attention.

He was already unconscious before she arrived, so she lifted him.

The father lifted Dean, and a guard was called to the site.

“Take his bicycle to the storeroom.” He ordered, flat.

But Tobias refused to come down from the bicycle. The guard had to forcefully take him down, and he gave that guard a tough bite on the arm which made the guard’s blood stain his teeth and lips and chin.

The guard let out a pained, loud and charged cry, causing more guards to rush to the graveyard.

They took Tobias down.

“Fuckin’ idiot!” Tobias cussed at the bleeding guard while wriggling and struggling with the ones who held him down. They’re five, but it still feels like they can’t hold him.

Dean and Saint were taken away by the parents, but Dean looked back at the yard exit, smiling evilly at Tobias before he went away completely.

The guards left the graveyard too with the bicycle, leaving Tobias alone, again.

He sat on top of a grave and rested his back on the tombstone, catching a butterfly which flew past him.

He was admiring it in his palm when blood dripped from his chin to the palm—blood of the guard.

Tobias’s eyes twitched so many times as his attention shifted to the blood.

The way it’s turning slightly black. The way it looks magically beautiful.

Slowly, he brought the palm to his nose, inhaling the blood scent.

He likes it.

No. He loves it.

[Present Time]

Tobias turned around and faced Saint who’s still standing by the table expectancy, looking serious.

“I know you’re not a liar, and that’s why you’re still allowed in this place till now. Don’t wish for more.” Tobias said, tone clipped. “And your little friend Tino? I see you’re still friends, and now I know you wanna cry, cos he can never escape death.”

“What!” Saint rushed to him. “But Tino is innocent!”

“The son of my mortal enemy is not innocent!” Tobias thundered, breaths harsh. “The greatest sin in this world is being a relative to the people I can’t stand, and the day I’ll finally kill him? Even if you eat sand to beg with a bleeding mouth, I won’t listen.”

Tobias left after that statement, and Saint’s arms dropped.

He looked at the lift that’s taking Tobias up. “No matter how cold you are to me, you’re still my brother!”

His words echoed in the air, cos Tobias never looked back.
