Unexpected Wealth Episode 6
Titi sat on the couch while Kemi walked up and down the living room, thinking. The room was quiet as both women tried to make sense of the plan they were about to execute.
"Are you sure this thing will work?" Titi asked, looking unsure. Kemi paused and looked back at her. "I told you, trust me. We just need to make your husband think the DNA test was fake." Titi nodded slowly.
"He loves that boy already. But if he sees proof that the test was manipulated, he will start having doubts."
Kemi smiled. "Exactly. That's the goal."
Titi folded her arms and leaned back on the chair. "But how will we convince him? The result came directly from the hospital."
Kemi picked up her bag and brought out a small notepad. "We will write something that looks like a bribe note. Something that sounds like Victoria paid someone to fake the result."
Titi looked at her friend with wide eyes. "A note?" "Yes," Kemi said confidently. "We'll plant it in Temi's bag. Then you'll pretend to find it when your husband is around."
Titi's lips moved slightly. "That's very smart. Let's do it."
Kemi sat down at the dining table and started writing on the notepad. She wrote in small, clear letters: "Please, change the DNA test result to favour my son. I know he is not Chief's son but I want Chief to accept him. The man is rich and I will benefit a lot if my son enters that house. I will pay you N200,000. From Victoria." She finished writing and handed it over to Titi.
"Put this in one of Temi's bags. Let your husband find it himself. It will be more believable that way."
Titi collected the note with shaky hands. She read it and nodded. "This is good. If my husband sees this, he will definitely begin to think twice."
Kemi stood up and stretched. "This is your house, Titi. Don't let another woman take your place because of one child she suddenly brought."
Titi nodded slowly. "I just don't want to lose everything I've worked for." Kemi moved to her and placed a hand on her shoulder. "You won't. This plan will scatter everything they've built. Chief will chase them away if he thinks they played him."
Later that night, when no one was around, Titi entered Temi's room. She went straight to the wardrobe and opened one of his bags. The bag was full of clothes and books. She pushed them aside and carefully slid the note into one of the inner compartments. She zipped the bag and stepped back. Her hands were sweaty. She had never done something like this before, but Kemi had given her courage. "Nobody will know," she whispered to herself. "He will just think the boy and his mother lied to him. That's all."
The next day, Chief Eze returned from his trip. Titi welcomed him with a smile and a hug. She served him his favourite food and made sure he was relaxed. After dinner, she pretended to tidy up Temi's room. As she arranged some books on the table, she called out, "Darling, please come and help me check something in Temi's room." Chief walked in slowly and asked, "What is it?" Titi pointed at the open bag. "I was cleaning and saw this note inside one of his bags. I don't understand it."
Chief collected the note and read it slowly. He didn't say a word for a few seconds. He read it again. The handwriting looked strange to him. His face remained plain as he folded the paper and put it on the table. "So, what do you think this means?" he asked.
Titi shrugged. "I don't know. I'm just confused. After reading that note, I began to wonder if the test result was even real." Chief looked away and said nothing. His silence said a lot. Doubts had entered his mind.
Later that evening, Chief sat alone in his study. He brought out the note again and read it for the third time. He began to recall how Victoria suddenly showed up after twenty-five years with a full-grown boy. Everything had happened so fast. The test result came back positive, and he had accepted Temi without asking too many questions. But now, this note had opened a door in his mind. He didn't know what to believe anymore. He kept the note in his drawer and decided to observe things more carefully.

Temi, on the other hand, had no idea what was going on. He was still focused on reviving the company his father gave him. He spent most of his time in the office, studying the company's financial history. But unknown to him, something bigger was being planned behind his back. Someone wanted him out of the house before he became too comfortable. That person was right under the same roof with him.
The next morning, Titi met Kemi at a restaurant. "I gave him the note yesterday," she said in a low voice. "He saw it with his own eyes."
Kemi leaned closer. "And what did he say?" Titi shook her head. "Nothing yet. But I could see the change. He looked disturbed."
Kemi smiled. "Good. He's thinking now. The doubt has entered. Very soon, he will begin to question everything. We must keep pushing. Let me work on the next step."
Titi leaned back and smiled. "That boy and his mother won't see what is coming."
