The Divorce Episode Two

When Tekena went for the interview at the oil company, it was a total walkover for him because his wife had softened the grounds the previous day. The company manager picked him for the job and he was asked to resume work the following day. The interview did not even happen, because Tekena did not answer any questions concerning his qualification for what he would be doing when employed.

However, the other candidates for the job were interviewed and dismissed and they were told the company would get back to them, and that was final.

"You can resume work tomorrow. The receptionist will show you to your office. You have two official cars, a house for accommodation, and N1.5 million salary per month. Please, accept my congratulations." The company manager tells Tekena in his office.

Tekena was so excited that when he got home, he knelt down in the living room to sing praises to God. His wife watched him singing and she laughed in her heart.

"If you know what I did for you to get this job, you would have chased me away by now." Diana said in her heart.

The following week, they moved away from the apartment and relocated to the new one given to them by the oil company. Also, they took delivery of the two official cars. Diana uses one, while her husband uses the second car to go to work.

"Everything is working out perfectly for us. This is the life I have always wanted. Poverty is a disease and I'm glad we have overcome it. We deserve this kind of happiness. We deserve to always have money. I'm so happy that you got this job my love. You can now properly take care of your family." Diana said to her husband one night when they were in bed. Their relationship had become stronger since he got the job and money became available.

"I'm so happy that I can now provide for my family. It was so shameful that we could not afford food in those days. I'm grateful to God that things have changed for the better." Tekena said shortly before they both fell asleep.

The next day after Tekena went to work, the gate man came to call Diana from the main building.

"Someone is looking for you ma. The person said he wants to come inside and see you, I said I must come and tell you first. Should I allow the person to come inside?" The gate man asked Diana who was in the living room watching Zee World channel on the TV.

"What does the man look like. What is his name?" Diana asked. She was surprised that someone was looking for her because she was not expecting any visitors. They just moved into the estate and she had no friends there who would visit her at that time of the day.

"He is a white man and he said his name is Jones." The gate man said. Diana was so shocked that she followed the gate man outside to see for herself. She saw that the person standing and waiting outside the gate is the company manager who she offered her website to browse before her husband was given the job.

"My God! What is he doing here? How did he know our house? What am going to do now?" Diana asked herself in total confusion. She decided to comport herself and invite the white man into the building.

"Good morning sir. I wasn't expecting an August visitor like you. What must have brought you to our house? Did anything happen to my husband at work?" Diana asked immediately after she showed Jones to a sit in the living room.

"Everything is fine with your husband and I'm sure he is enjoying his job. I stopped by to see you." Jones said with a broad smile meant to disarm Diana whose face showed a sign of surprise.

"Welcome, but I didn't know you were going to visit. I'm a bit surprised to see you." Diana said.

"Yea. I know. I couldn't forget about what happened between us in my office the other day. I mean, it was really enjoyable and I want it to continue. Each time sleep, I keep seeing you in my dreams. Your image has been permanently etched in my brain. You are so beautiful and sweet that it is difficult to forget about you. The truth is that I want you to be my girlfriend." Jones said calmly.

"You do remember that I'm a married woman?"

Diana replied calmly, making sure everything she said sank well into the head of Jones, but he was adamant.

"Of course I know you are married, but I love you you. Can't you see that I can no longer sleep well without you? I keep thinking about you every night. I have not rested since the day I browsed your website.

As a matter of fact, I want to continue browsing it." Jones said as he stood up from the chair and drew closer to Diana. He held her hand, but she stood up and pushed him away.

"Stop what you are doing. It is not proper. I'm a married woman and I can't cheat on my husband. Please, it's time for you to go. You have overstayed your welcome." Diana said as she showed Jones the exit door.

"Really? You came to me and freely offered your website for me to browse so that your husband could get a job. Now that your husband got the Job, a house and two cars, you suddenly remembered that you are a married woman? Look, Diana, I'm not begging you to be my girlfriend. I'm actually commanding you. If you don't allow me, I will sack your husband. You have 24 hours to decide." Jones said as he left the room.
