“I’m sorry about your loss, Mr. Williams. Please accept my condolence.” Abby said for the umpteenth time.

Williams have stopped crying but his eyes were still red and swollen. He was sad and broken. It’s quite obvious that he has been very fond of his father when the man was still alive.

“Thank you, Dr. Abby.” He mumbled. “I shouldn’t be crying. I must look like a coward.”

“What? No, no, not at all, Mr. Williams. You’ve just lost a father, it’s normal for you to cry.” She told him.

She sounded like a hypocrite at that point. He lost a father and it was normal for him to cry but when she lost a mother, she couldn’t shed tears. Not even one tear. Wasn’t it typical for a human being to cry either because they are in pain, happy, or lost someone very special to them? Why couldn’t she do that? She was human after all or wasn’t she?

As a child, that monster warned her against crying. He told her it was a sign of weakness. She never believed him though but after hurting and breaking her…after ruining her, she suddenly stopped crying whenever he flogged her, burned her skin, or ruin her. She couldn’t cry. And it made the monster very happy.

She remembered his words to her that fateful day when she kept a poker face as he was lashing her with his damn belt.

≤!≥ Good girl, you are becoming more like me, honey. A strong girl should never cry. Never.≤!≥

He was one person she hated in this world. If she was asked to pick between him and the devil, she would choose the devil over and over again. That man in her nightmares was a monster, a sadistic bastard who derived plea-sure in breaking her like a fuc-k ing cheap gla-ss.

And maybe he was right…she was just like him. All her life knowing him, she never saw him cry. He was like a human without emotions.

“DR. ABBY!” Williams yelled, tapping her on the shoulder.

Abigail jumped, startled.

“Dr. Abby, are you okay?” He asked.

“Huh?”

“I have been calling your name but you weren’t answering.” He stated. “Are you alright?”

She nodded. “Oh, yes. I’m sorry. I was lost in my head.”

“Okay?” He paused. “Thank you for taking care of my father while he was still alive. He told me so much about you and how he wanted you as a daughter-in-law. He said you were single and ready to mingle.”

“What?” Abigail laughed and so did Williams. “That sound so much like him.”

“Yeah…he really loved you, Dr. Abby. At one point, I was jealous. I thought you were taking my spot in my father’s heart.”

She smiled. “I would never do that. Honestly, Mr. Gilbert was like a father to me. He is an amazing man. You are lucky to have a man like him as a father.”

“I sure am.”

She wished she was that lucky to be blessed with a father like Mr. Gilbert. Maybe her life would have taken a different turn.

“Why didn’t you introduce Lily to your father?” She asked.

Williams let out a de-ep sigh and shrugged. “I wanted to surprise him. You know, I regret not introducing them on time. Do you think Father would have liked her as much as he liked you?”

They both sighted Lily walking out of the hospital cafeteria, holding a paper drinks holder with three cups in it. She was scrolling throu-ghher phone as she approached them.

“She has a beautiful soul, Mr. Williams.” Abby smiled. “Mr. Gilbert would have definitely liked her. I’m sure he does. After all, he is still watching over us wherever he is.”

Williams turned to look at her. “If I had met you first before Lily, maybe I would have fallen in love with you.” He said.

Abby blus-hed. “You flatter me, Mr_”

“Please call me Williams.” He cut her off.

“Uhm, okay, Williams.”

Lily reached where they are and handed a cup of hot chocolate over to Abby and gave a cup of black coffee to her boyfriend and then took one for herself.

“We should get going now,” Williams said.

Abby nodded her head. “Thank you, Lily, for the cup of hot chocolate.”

“It’s nothing.” Lily brushed it off with a warm smile.

“Are you going to come for my father’s funeral?” Williams asked as he wrapped his arms around his girlfriend’s shoulder.

“Of course. I should pay Mr. Gilbert my last respect.”

“Thank you.” He shook hands with her while Lily locked her in a warm embrace.

“Bye.” Abby waved and watched them head to their car. They entered a black Benz and drove out of the hospital compound.

“I didn’t take it!” Daisy argued, wiggling out of Robert’s hold.

“Can you stop struggling?” Robert hissed.

“Let me go.” She shouted.

Emma brou-ght out a handcuff from her back pocket and clasped it around Daisy’s wrist while Robert let go of her, straightening his shirt.

“I only had s-ex with Stephen. I didn’t steal anything for fuc-k sake!” She kept ranting.

“How then did you know it was a necklace?” Emma asked.

Daisy swallowed, not saying anything.

During the process of interrogating Daisy, she mistakenly let it sli-p out of her tongue that the jewelry missing was a necklace. But according to Mr. Sherlock, only his wife and children know about that.

So how did Daisy know? Only one thing made sense, she was the thief.

Daisy fell to her knees immediately. “Sir, I’m sorry. It wasn’t intentional. I never wanted to steal the necklace, I swear.” She cried.

Ginny rolled her eyes. “Cheap thief. I knew there was something about you that I just didn’t like. Anyway, where is the necklace? I will like to take a picture of it and let my fans on Instagram know that the thief has been caught.”

Everyone stared at her in shock aside from Emma who let out a muffled gro-an. How can she be talking about pictures and Instagram at a time like this?

“I really don’t blame you for this,” Sherlock said, facing his son. “It is you I blame.”

Stephen hung his head low, fidgeting with his fingers.

“Where is the necklace?” Robert asked.

“In…in my bag.” She confessed, pointing to a room that led to the maids’ quarter.

“I will make sure you pay for this crime. After all we did for you, this was the best way to repay us. Really?” Please take her away, please.”

There was a knock on the door. Another maid went to get it, two officers walked in.

“You called,” One of them said, staring at Emma.

“Oh, yeah. Please take her to the station.”

The officers grabbed Daisy as she continued struggling to escape their grasp and they left the house.

“Thank you so much, Detectives.” Sherlock shook hands with Emma and Robert. Ginny had her hand stretched out for a handshake also but he didn’t shake her hand. “You don’t know how much this means to my wife and me. I can’t believe the jewelry has been right under our noses all this while.”

Emma smiled. “We owe Stephen for the easy case solved. If he hadn’t confessed, we wouldn’t have found the culprit. You did well, Stephen.” She smiled at him and he

blus-hed in response.

Robert scrunched up his face, glaring at the poor guy. If eyes could kill, Stephen would have been 6ft below.

“We would have solved the case but not so easily.” Robert corrected. “You don’t need to give him all the credit.”

“Anyway, we should get going.” Emma said.

“Okay. Thank you once again.” Sherlock smiled.

Emma, Robert, and Ginny left the house. They were heading to the car when they heard a voice from behind.

“Detective Emma!” Stephen yelled and ran towards them.

“Oh, Stephen. Did we forget any_”

“Can I have your number?”
