A Bet - S01 E33

Read Story: SEASON 1 EPISODE 33

Khloe’s POV

I really feel for Aubrey, I can’t believe she has been going throu-ghsomething like that but even at that, she still managed to smile in school.

If it were me, I won’t even talk to anyone. I will just stay on my own and be withdrawn, I give Aubrey a thumbs up for her cheerfulness towards everyone.

“What are you thinking about Khloe? Do you want to get us killed?” Natalie asked snapping me out of my thoughts

“Sorry. Just that thinking about how Samantha slapped Aubrey, I can’t help but feel bad for her” I confessed

“You’re right but that doesn’t mean you should get us killed” Nat said rolling her eyes

“Okay, I will focus next time”

I dropped Natalie at her house before going to mine. Well, she doesn’t like going to school alone in her car so she prefers going with me instead.

When four of us were still together ( I mean I, Sydney, Natalie and Lilian), I and Natalie will go to school in one car while Sydney and Lilian will go in the other car.

I thought they were really my friends but I’m still glad it wasn’t too late before I found out.

I got home and went straight to my bathroom to take a shower. I just want to take a bath and sleep, I don’t know why I’m so tired.

I came out of the bathroom to see Mary staring round my room like she’s looking for something.

“What do you think you’re doing?” I asked making her shiver out of fear

“Gosh, you scared me. I was actually searching for you, I wanted to ask how school was today”

“Really? So am I a needle that you’re searching for?”

“No. I’m sorry, I will just leave now” she said and scurried away

She should be thankful I’m feeling sleepy now, if not?

Let me just sleep first.

Mary’s POV

Oh goodness! I can’t believe she almost caught me because if she had, I would have been gone now.

I have to be extremely careful from now on because she will begin to suspect me.

I know she will sleep soon since she has taken her bath so I will quietly go inside and search for the spare key.

Minutes later

I think now is the perfect time to go into her room. All the maids are busy and I’m sure she must be asleep now.

I opened the door and took gentle steps I side before shutting the door.

I searched throu-ghthe room but I couldn’t find anything related to a key. I was about giving up when I saw a box un-der her bed.

Wow! It was kept safely and it will be really difficult to know something like that is there.

I slowly crawled towards it and took it out but just when I was about opening it, Khloe stirred in her sleep before slowly opening her eyes.

“I heard a sound now, right?” she asked herself “maybe it was just my imagination” she concluded and went back to sleep

I released the de-eper breath I didn’t know I was holding all along. My heart was already on my mouth when I heard her voice, I need to be quick with my mission here.

I opened the box and saw some spare keys and docu-ments but because of how nervous and scared I was, I just took the key and hurriedly kept the box back.

“That was close” I whispered to myself when I got to my room

What would have happened to me if Khloe had caught me in her room? Today would have been my last day on earth!

At least my mission is almost complete. On Saturday, I will be leaving this goddamn place to South Korea. Can’t wait!

Khloe’s POV

I woke up to notice something strange. The box un-der my bed was moved by someone.

I know how I placed it because there are important docu-ments in it and the one of the spare keys to my room is also there so I can easily tell when it has been tampered with.

The door to my room was also slight opened. What’s happening? I’ve never noticed this kind of strange thing before so how come it just suddenly started?

Okay, first things first! I need to check my box and make sure everything in it is intact before asking the maids if anyone came to my room.

Just as I was about opening it, Mary came in.

“Don’t you know how to knock?” I snapped at her

“I’m sorry miss. Your dad asked me to call you for dinner” she said and bowed before walking away

I dropped the box and went to the dining with the hope of coming back to check the things in the box but when I was done eating, I just slept and that was how I forgot about everything.

Next day

Aubrey’s POV

I got to school earlier than usual so I can have time to think before Khloe and Natalie arrive.

They think Samantha is a bad person because of what happened yesterday so I have to clear the misun-derstanding somehow.

I got into my cla-ss and sat down before placing my head on the table.

Few minutes later, I heard footsteps. Thinking it was Khloe and Natalie, I raised my head but I saw the transfer student instead.

I think he’s name is Min….. Seok. He stared at me for a while before going to sit somewhere but he came back few minutes later.

Okay……… what does he want?

“You’re Aubrey, right?” he asked staring keenly at me

“Y… Yes” I stuttered

“Good morning”

“Morning”

“Uhhm…. So, I don’t mean to offend you with my question but I want to know your relationship with Liam. Hope you don’t mind?”

“Not at all. I and Liam are just friends…. for now, I don’t know what will happen later on” I answered him truthfully

“O.. Kay. Can we be friends?” he asked

“Of course”

“Kim Min Seok” he said with his hands stretched

“Aubrey Connor” I said with a small smile, returning the handshake at the same time.

Somehow, his voice sounded familiar. Like I’ve heard it somewhere before but I don’t really know the exact place.

“Can we take a walk?” he asked politely

“Yeah… sure” I answered

We both walked out of the guard and headed to the garden. We talked about casual things before I decided to head back because I know Khloe and Natalie must have arrived now.

I got to the cla-ss and truly, I met them there.

“Where have you been Aubrey? We’ve been searching all over for you” Khloe said with concern written all over her face

“I’m sorry girls, I was with a friend”

“So, you have another friend apart from us? Natalie asked surprised

“Yeah… We just became friends today. Besides, Liam is also my friend” Khloe rolled her eyes when I mentioned Liam

“What’s the name of the friend you made today” Khloe asked

“His name is Kim Min Seok” I answered her

“You mean the new transferred student?” Natalie asked

“Yes”

“Wow! How come you don’t have any commoner as a friend? You’re not rich but all your friends are extremely rich people, what’s the secret to that?” Khloe asked with her arms folded

“I don’t know” I replied with a shrug “I guess I just end up having rich friends”

“Alright then. So how is your face? I mean… Samantha.. you know” Natalie asked trying ha-rd not to make me feel bad

“Ohh… that! I’m fine. She probably wasn’t in a good mood yesterday. That’s the first time she will raise her hand on me ever since I started living there” I said trying to change their mindset about Sam

“Whether she was in a good mood or not, her action is still not justified and they say first impression lasts longer” Khloe said not willing to buy my excuse

“I’m serious guys. She’s really nice and fun to be with”

“Yeah, we’ve heard you. Let’s now go for devotion” Khloe said leaving the cla-ss while I and Natalie followed behind.
