∆ LINDA’S PARTY ∆

Pierce pulled her into his arms and hug-ged her before she could do a thing.

Francis who had been dancing with Alice saw this and was about to go to them when she pulled him back.

“Give them time to talk” Alice said.

“But he’s hugging her, Pierce still feels some thing for her” Francis said which got Alice starring at Pierce.

“He does but I think that’s him saying goodbye to the feelings he has for her” Alice said.

“Goodbye?”

“Yes and don’t worry, if you still want to know what they are saying, I can always eavesdrop for you” Alice said.

“Right! You can listen in on people’s conversation” Francis said chuckling down at her.

“Yes and one more thing, put your trust in Joanna. She loves you and wouldn’t do a thing to hurt you” Alice told him which got him smiling brightly.

“I will keep that in mind” He added as they began to dance to the rhythm of the music.

“Why did you do that?” Joanna asked moving away from him completely.

‘”Am sorry, I just got caught up with the moment. I didn’t mean to do that,I just….I just wanted to convey my feelings to you for the last time” Pierce replied.

“What do you mean by its the last time?” She asked.

“Cause have decided to move on. Just like Francis said to me, you loved me too early and I realize it late. There can never be any hope for me again right?” He asked and she felt a pang of guilt seeing him sad.

“Pierce I…..”

“You don’t have to say a thing. Seeing you and Francis together yesterday made it clear to me that you really love him and If I love you like I claim, I should want your happiness which is with Francis” Pierce said making Joanna tear up a little due to his words.

“Gosh! I didn’t intend to make you cry ” Pierce said wiping the tear off her cheek.

“This shouldn’t be a sad farewell for us, it should be a happy one cause I want you to be happy with Francis while I try to be happy with some one else” Pierce said earning a soft smile from her.

“You will, you will certainly find some one who will make you very happy” Joanna replied which earned her a smile from him too.

“Have taken you away from Francis, you should go back to him now. I bet that he’s freaking Jealous now” Pierce said which got them starring at Francis who was enjoying his dance with Alice.

“I doubt he is. Thanks Pierce for clearing the air between us” She said giving him a swift hug.

” Nicholas just arrived, I will see you later” Pierce said ruffling her hair before going to meet Nicholas who arrived with Jessica making Joanna wonder why he isn’t with Mirabel and where’s Mirabel.

She thought as she pulled out her phone to call her friend when she heard her name being called, she turned to see Evelyn walking towards her with an Orange juice in her hand.

“Mind having a chat with me?” Evelyn asked softly.

While Francis occupied himself dancing with Jocelyn, Alice made her way to Pierce and she found him at the drink counter, gulping down brandy like it’s water.

Unknown to her, she let out a slow smile and went to join him.

“Hello there” she greeted and when he saw her, he looked away not bothering to acknowledge her greeting.

“There’s no use ignoring me” Alice said and when he was about drinking another glas-sof brandy, she took the glas-soff his hands.

“Its not the end of the world because you said your goodbye to Joanna” Alice said and that got him starring at her.

“Were you eavesdropping?” Pierce asked.

“Err, some thing like that” Alice said having a little smile on her face but that disappeared when Pierce banged his hand on the counter startling her.

The music which was blaring loud didn’t let anyone hear it and neither did it bring their attention on them.

“People like you makes me sick” he said starring at her with anger.

“And people who take out their anger on others make me sick too” Alice returned feeling angry.

“I thought you were feeling down and needed some cheering up but then I can see that you don’t…..”

“And why would I need someone like you to cheer me up? Why would I want that?” He said fiercely but looking calm with it.

“You are a jack as-sand let me tell you that with this stupid attitude of yours, you won’t have anyone by your side, you will be lonely and a lonely person ends up doing crazy things and…..”

“Shut up!” Pierce yelled pulling her by the head and towards him.

The glared at each other and when the silence became unbearable, Alice was forced to speak.

“You jerk, you crazy psycho, you…..”

“Shut up Alice, you really don’t want me to do some thing crazy” Pierce threatened still holding onto her head.

“Crazy? What do you intend to do? Will you hit me?” She said pushing at his chest.

“I don’t degrade myself to hitting a woman but I might in your case or better else, kis-sing you might just shut you up” He said and that got her feeling scared.

If this jerk kis-sed her, then her first kis-s will be stolen by him and…..

“Oh! So the thought of me kis-sing you had got you feeling scared? ” Pierce asked pulling her body into his while Alice tried to push him away.

“Don’t you dare kis-s me” she said hoping that he wouldn’t.

Pierce let out a slow smile and let his fingers trail her li-ps.

“kis-sing you might not be a bad thing but am not into girls like you. To be sincere girls who throw themselves at me have always been the least interesting, I always like doing the pursuit. So I can never and will never be interested in you” he said letting go of her even as he went back to his drink.

Alice stood there for a while watching him, she didn’t know why his words hurt but then she felt hurt. He had refered to her as an easy girl who would throw herself on any guy and she had only wanted to make him smile since he looked down.

“You will regret saying this to me” Alice said walking off.

She wanted to go off to somewhere to let her heart out cause she felt hurt but on hearing someone voice, she changed her mind.

The voice she heard was of someone who was crying and that person needs help, she thought as she went in search of Joanna.

“What chat do we possibly have in common?” Joanna asked.

“A chat about Francis but first, have this drink” Evelyn said stretching the orange juice to her.

“Why should I accept that from you?”Joanna asked.

“Take it as a peace offering cause whether you believe it or not. Am here to make peace with you” Evelyn said.

“About Francis, I believe have done a lot of terrible things to warrant your hate and am very much sorry. I now realise that what you and Francis share is a real thing that not even a girl like me can ruin”

“And….” Joanna prompted.

“And have decided to give up pursing Francis. I should love myself more and not some one whose love will never be mine ” Evelyn said looking very sincere.

Evelyn has rehearsed her speech severally hoping it would be convincing to Joanna and now hearing her self saying it, it sounds convincing in her own ears, she thought wondering why she felt that what she’s saying to Joanna is the truth.

“Well am glad to hear that and I hope that you stick to your words and choose to love yourself rather than to chase after some one who will never love you back” Joanna said as she took the glas-sfrom Evelyn.

Evelyn hadn’t been expecting her to take the glas-sand now that Joanna had it in her hand, she felt guilty and wanted to stop her from drinking it but then she’s planned it with Linda.

If she wants Francis back then she’s got to do it and…..

“Don’t!”

“Joanna!”

Evelyn and Alice said at the same time which stop Joanna from drinking the juice.

“You need to come with me, I think some thing is wrong with Mirabel” Alice said.

“Mirabel? I was just about to call her,do you know where she is?”Joanna asked handing the juice back to Evelyn before walking off with Alice.

Evelyn stared at the juice in her hand with guilt, she might be cruel at times but she isn’t cruel to the extent that she would be willing to do harm to her fellow mate, she thought.

“If you aren’t drinking that then you can give it to me” Theo said taking the drink from her but Evelyn quickly pushed it out of his hand when he was about to drink it.

“Are you crazy? How can you just take it from my hand?” She yelled at him.

“To see if you still have a bit of good left in you. That drink was spiked right?” Theo asked startling her.

“How did you know that?” Evelyn asked.

“Have been watching you. You never gave anyone the drink and you also didn’t let anyone touch it and when you saw Joanna, you picked it up and went straight to her offering her the drink” Theo said.

“Were you sent here to watch me?” Evelyn asked.

“I wasn’t. I was watching out for everyone and I happen to notice you” he replied.

“If you had gone throu-ghwith it and had let Joanna take the juice then you would have been branded in my head as a very cruel person but am glad you stopped it and also stopped me from drinking it , it shows that there is still some good left in you” Theo said ruffling her hair which got Evelyn pushing his hand away.

“You know nothing about me, so just mind your business!” She said before sauntering off leaving him there.

Joanna and Alice found Mirabel in one of the rest room crying her eyes out.

“What’s wrong?” Joanna asked quickly moving towards her crying friend.

“It’s Nicholas” Mirabel said in between tears.

“What’s wrong with Nicholas?” Joanna asked.

“I don’t know. Jessica told me some thing about him and I confronted him about it and now he doesn’t pick my calls and neither does it he reply to my message” Mirabel said.

“Have you tried talking to him In person?” Joanna asked.

“I planned on doing it tonight but I saw him and Jessica together and when I went to him , he ignored me” Mirabel said remembering when she went to him to talk about it.

“Now what’s wrong with Nicholas? I thought he’s very much interested in you” Alice said.

“That’s what I thought too but it seems like he just wanted to use me for a while and as a distraction from his real girlfriend who is Jessica ” Mirabel said wiping off her tears.

“So what are you going to do?” Joanna asked.

“Am not going to do a thing,since am no one to him in the first place then he’s nothing to me too” Mirabel said as she washed her face with water.

“I want to go home, I don’t think I want to be in the same place as Nicholas and Jessica, will you walk out?” Mirabel asked Joanna who nodded.

“See her off, I will just go back to the party. Take care Mirabel ” Alice said as she gave Mirabel.

Alice let out a sigh as she wondered why Pierce and Nicholas are so frustrating.

She left the rest room and was heading back to the party when her ears picked on some people conversation.

She move towards a door only to see Linda and Evelyn talking.

“You threw the drink away on purpose!” Linda said.

“I did, I don’t think I can do it again” Evelyn replied.

“Why are you suddenly feeling guilty, we both planned on splitting Joanna and Francis and this is the perfect place to do that” Linda said.

“I know we planned on doing that but then I don’t want to do it again” Evelyn said.

“You can’t give up now! Not when I have it all ready, not when we can get Joanna out of the way for good” Linda said and that got Alice gasping out alerting them of her presence.

“Who’s there?” Linda asked and on hearing that Alice took to her heels.

She was ran until she got to the pool side, she had lost her way during the run but that didn’t stop her from pulling out her phone to call Joanna.

She was standing beside the pool and was dialing Joanna phone when someone pushed her into the water.

Alice who couldn’t swim began calling for help while Linda stood there watching her.

“No one must know that am the fox amongst them and since you heard what you shouldn’t have heard, you need to disappear” Linda murmured watching Alice struggling in the water.
