” Hijo {Son } ” Mom muttered under her in shock .

” Madre ( mom )” I said rubbing my forehead , what the fvck was I thinking when I said that .

” You have a girlfriend ? Are you saying this in a bid to escape my wrath ? She asked frowning .

” Of cause not ” i said when I noticed she was taking me seriously.

” Since when ? She asked frowning.

” It’s been Two months ” I said taking a deep breath in and out .

I didn’t know I was this good a lier . Mom fell silent on the other end.

” So that’s why you have been so uncomfortable with the dates I have been setting you up to . I’m so sorry mi hijo ” she said softly.

” It’s okay mom ” i said smiling.

” So how about you bring her home for my birthday ” she asked and I frowned .

” Wait what ma ? I asked frowning.

” Since you will be coming home for the merger with Vee constructions for a month ,I thought you could come with her and she could attend my birthday too ” she said and I nearly died .

” Mom …she’s very busy ” I said immediately.

” What kind of Girl is too busy to meet her Mother in law ? She asked and I could imagine her frowning at that moment.

” Mother in-law ? We are not even Married yet Madre ” I said trying to stop myself from fainting.

” But you will get married soon , are you planning to date an innocent girl for 10 years or what ? She asked suddenly raising her voice in anger .

” I didn’t say that Madre ” I muttered under my breath.

” Then what are you insinuating ? Are you trying to take your father’s footsteps! She bursted .

” No ..” i said immediately .

” Tell me about your seniorita , is she a nice girl ? What’s her name ” she asked excitedly.

” Her name ? I repeated the question .

” Of cause hijo, what is the name of your girlfriend ? She asked and I rubbed my forehead.

” Imani her name is Imani ” I said before I could stop myself .

” Imani , that doesn’t sound Spanish or Italian , definitely not French or English …” She trailed .

” She’s from South Africa mother ” I said and she squiled.

” I’m so excited to meet her in person . I’m glad a guy is not gonna be my daughter in law” she said and I forced a chuckle.

” When am I meeting her ? ” she asked .

” Can you give me time to at least tell her ? Mom ” I said and she squiled.

” I’m so excited hijo , you must love her a lot . Sorry for all the times I roasted you about a girlfriend ,now I understand you where shy this entire time ” she said and I nearly gaged.

Me shy ?

Why would I even be shy about a woman ? The problem now is how the hell will I get Imani to agree to be my fake girlfriend .

What was I even thinking mentioning her make ?

She was the first thing that came to mind when mom kept throwing her questions now I’m in Soup.

” I will talk to Scarlett son I’m sure she will be as excited as I am ,my regards to your woman hijo ,start making babies soon okay . Love you ” she said and ended the call .

Babies ?

I just lied about having a girlfriend and she already wants babies .

Why is my life so complicated ? I wondered .

I walked over to my room Freshened up and decided to call my guys on group call .

” Man not everyone is awake by this time let me sleep” Pierre groaned from the other end .

” I just need to talk to someone ” I said and heard Adonis voice on the other end.

He seem to be awake .

That’s one thing with Adonis , he’s the most serious one amongst us when it comes to his workaholic nature .

” I’m awake Delgado shoot ” his powerful voice came from the other end.

” Say something Sweet boy before I get angry ” Pierre said on the other end.

” Stop calling me sweet boy ” I said in embarrassment.

He has been calling me that for as long as I remember and it’s so Embarrassing.

” I told Madre I have a girlfriend” I said immediately.

” Holy Mary mother of God…. ” Pierre trailed seriously.

” We are not in church Schmitt! ” Adonis said annoyed .

” You seriously need to stop being an angry young man Strivakos ” Pierre said with a chuckle.

” Pierre ” Adonis and I said in unison .

” Repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand , stop all your sinful ways …” He trailed dramatically.

” I thought you where sleepy Pierre ? I asked frowning.

” You already woke me up ,so tell me what do you want ? He asked .

” You are make it sound like you have something reasonable to say Adonis said and I nearly laughed at their banter .

” Good try Mr Greek Billionaire ,but I’m a happy boy I don’t beef people” He said and I pinched the bridge of my nose .

” I told Madre I have a girlfriend ” I said and they both fell silent.

” Wait you what !” Adonis asked in horror .

” I knew I made sense that night ” Pierre trailed .

” But you what ? He also asked after my words sank in .

” And now she wants me to bring her with me to Costa Rica for her birthday ” I said rubbing my temple.

” Man did you offend someone or what ? Pierre asked laughing.

” This is not funny okay ,non of it is , mom is so happy I made things worse by calling a name for her you know how curious mom can be ,I can’t mess up ” I said rubbing my forehead .

It’s like I just moved from bad to worse 🤦

” Okay so how about we make a list of girls who could possibly agree to fake date you , Although I think it’s a terrible idea ” Adonis trailed off .

” I don’t know okay , I called the name of my employee ”

” Imani , she’s a clumsy black girl I encountered some days ago that roasted me with hot coffee” I said bitting my lower lip.

” And out of all the girls you know you had to call the name of the coffee girl ” Pierre trailed .

” Coffee girl ? I asked confused .

” Your fake girlfriend could be coffee girl ,just ask her nicely” pierre suggested.

” Not until she gets mad at me man ,what if she thinks I’m a psyco that’s out to get her or something” I said anxiously.

” Offer her money , Make sure she agrees man ,you’re a nice guy who the hell can say no to the Leonardo Delgado ” Adonis teased .

I freshened up and changed into my formal clothes .

” Good morning Mr Delgado , you have a meeting with the finance department by 9 am this morning …” Jeff trailed as he read out my schedule for the day .

But my mind was Somewhere else . How do I make her say yes to actually fake date me .

Not just fake date me but travel with me to Costa Rica .

” Mr Delgado. ..sir ” Jeff trailed and I looked over to him .

” Did you hear me ? He asked .

” Continue” I said as we made my way to my office.

Finance department , meaning I was going to see her today .

Maybe I should just talk to her when I see her this morning .

I wondered as I rubbed my forehead .

” You may leave Jeff ” I said and straightened my suit .

” Sir ? He asked.

” I need space ” i said and he stared at my face.

” Sure Boss ” he said and left my office .

Around Nine I was sitted in the conference room with the finance department .

There she was in her black dress and white formal jacket .

She looked classy and the way she carried herself with a preety smile on her face .

She was avoiding eye contact with me the entire time ,I think it has something to do with the fact that she poured coffee on me .

She was making the presentation and as she talked ,I noticed she has the South African accent .

Imani Lerato is a very beautiful woman with striking features ,plus she’s very intelligent that Explains why she has won employee of the year award .

” Thank you ladies and gentlemen” she said smiling as she sat down .

” Good presentation” I said starring straight at her face .

She looked away unable to keep up with the eye contact .

Oh earth swallow me , today happens to be one of those days when even the universe is not in my favor .

First thing in the morning ,I find out from my Colleagues that the Boss is gonna attend the meeting .

The CEO 😭 Someone I poured hot coffee on and have been avoiding like my life depended on it .

There he was sitting on his chair in the conference room .

It should be a crime for someone to look so attractive.

Everyone had there eyes on him the entire time ,but I looked away before he could notice me .

I prayed deep down my heart that he has forgotten about the incident .

” I told you to apologise the following day ” my mind mocked .

Throughout my presentation I could feel his eyes on me which made me nervous the entire time .

He asked a few questions and the meeting wrapped up around 45 minutes later .

The head of the finance department gave him a handshake and we all stood up to leave.

” Miss lerato ” I heard his velvety voice and I stopped on my tracks .

” Sir” I said trying my best not to stutter .

” I called only miss lerato ” he said and the others escused us immediately.

Oh here it comes ,he’s definitely gonna fire me now .

” Have a sit ” he gestured towards the sit opposite him ” I walked over and sat down trying my best not to freak out .

” I’m so sorry Mr Delgado please don’t fire me ,i really wanted to apologise for my clumsy behavior the other time. ..” I trailed in pannick.

He stared at me without a word and I shut up when I realized he wasn’t saying a word and my cheeks heated in a blush .

” So …the thing is I want you to be my fake girlfriend ” he said immediately and I stared at him .

Wait did I hear him correctly or I’m imagining things.

” Sir ?”

” What don’t you understand miss lerato ? I want you to be my fake girlfriend for a few months ” He said his Spanish accent dripping from each word .

I stared at the tall handsome blue eyed devil he suddenly grew horns .

Was this a new tiktok trend or what ? Yeah this is definitely a tiktok trend .

But his next words proved it was far from a tiktok trend .

” I’m willing to pay any amount” he said and my jaws literally dropped.

” Sweet baby Jesus ” I cursed under my breath .

I stared at my Boss sitted calmly after dropping such a bomb at me .

” Sir I know I poured hot coffee on you , and I have apologized for it … Can I leave now ? I asked and he stared at me then sent his long strong fingers to his tie as he shifted it properly on his neck .

My eyes trailed his outfit , his white sleeve shirt was now rolled up exposing his strong arms .

The first few buttons of his dress shirt was undone , showing off his chest .

An expensive looking gold chain was around his neck complimenting his gorgeous skin .

” I should get going…” I trailed as I stood up immediately.

” Imani ” he called and my heart skipped a bit .

Why did my name suddenly sound so sexy coming from his mouth ? This is so not good .

” Sir ” I said and he pinched the bridge of his pointed nose .

” Call me Leonardo” he said and I fought the blush that threatened to escape.

” Sir you are my Boss ..” I trailed .

” I want you …” He trailed and my cheeks heated in a blush immediately.

” Ehr …sorry I didn’t mean for it to come out that way ” he said and took a deep breath in and out .

I watched as his tongue darted from his mouth and ran down his lower lip .

” I desperately need your help ” he said seriously.

” Sir this is Akwared I mean ,you just asked me to be your fake girlfriend ” i said unable to control my amusement.

” And I’m willing to pay for it ” he said the last part and I raised my eyebrows.

” Sir you don’t get it do you ? Who the fvck goes around asking people to be their fake girlfriend ? I asked and he just stared at me without no expression on his handsome face .

” Name your price” he said drumming his fingers silently on the glass table in the conference room .

” Sir you don’t get it do you ? I asked .

” I can make it double or triple your salary just hear me out ” he said and I picked my bag .

I turned to leave and cried in pain as my heels came in contact with the chair in front and I fell butt first on the groaned .

” Aaah” I cried in pain .

I glared daggers at him when I noticed his lips raise in a smile.

Is he laughing at me ?

” Miss Lerato ” He called as he stood up from his sit ,I moved backwards immediately.

” I should get going ” I said and stood up on my feets.

I whinced in pain at the hurt that rammed my hips .

” Cosmo estas ? He asked in Spanish and my I frowned in confusion.

” Are you alright ? He asked and I gave a nod .

” About what we were talking about …” He trailed .

” I’m sorry Mr Delgado but I am not interested” I muttered under my breath.

All this man had to do was stare at you and you will be intimidated .

” Here is my card ,just in case you change your mind Imani ,trust me I won’t do anything to hurt you . It just for a few months ” he said just like that I watched him exit the conference room .

He wants me to be his fake girlfriend ? Why does he even need a fake Girlfriend in the first place .

He’s rich famous and handsome ,he could get any woman of choice why then does he want a fake girlfriend ? I wondered.

My mind went back to his words and how blunt he was .

No beating around the bush . The man is something else.

Throughout my day at the office ,my mind kept replaying the words over and over again .

Dinner at Mom’s resturant by 8pm my phone pinged with a text from my older brother .

Oh God “I groaned frustratedly . Knowing my mother she would start her lectures.

I closed from the office and by the time I decided to go home it was already late so I figured it was best I go stop by the resturant.

YEMIES KITCHEN is a restaurant that mom started in her youth when she met dad.

It has been renovated to meet the modern times .

It’s a cozy place neat with delicious foods.

It’s not a fancy place for the likes of celebrities and all just a normal place.

” Here comes our princess” I heard my sister’s Voice as she smiled at me .

” Hey sugar boo ” i said to my older brother As I kissed both sides of his cheeks.

” I missed you Om ” I said smiling.

” Sorry kiddo I’ve been really busy with work lately ” he said and I smiled.

” I understand ” I muttered under my breath.

” Plus he has a family to take care of ,you will understand if you give men a chance ” mom said dropping fruits on the table as the workers served the other dishes .

” Honey we talked about this ” Dad said softly.

” Talked about this , doesn’t mean I should watch my daughter ruin her life with her bare hands ,you are a woman. This is the time where your market is supposed to sell …” She trailed .

” Iya [mom ] are we seriously going to have this conversation right now ? I said frowning.

” Your stubbornness and refusal to take advice is very dangerous for a young girl …” She trailed .

” Ma. .” I trailed .

” Pa enu re mo [ shut up your mouth ] ” she scolded in Yoruba .

” I’m talking you are talking abi you want to collect ni ? Is it because I am letting you misbehave ” she asked angrily.

” Ma binu Iya [ I am sorry mother] ” I muttered under my breath in hurt .

” You are being too hard on her mom , calm down ” Omari said and Dad rubbed her arms .

Dad has always been the dotting parent between the both of them .

Going the extra mile to pamper and spoil us ,but mom 🤦

” You think I don’t love you ? I love you that Is why you see me going on and on about this Marriage stuff . Abi you wan to turn Agojie ? She asked and Snickers of laughter broke out on the table.

” Iya that is not fair ” I said and Zuri chuckled.

” Can we eat now ? I had a tiring day at the office ” Dad said and mom kissed his forehead

” I’m sorry honey we can say grace now ‘ she said and we all joined our hands together .

” Howzit ? Mom asked smiling .

” Fingerlicking as always my wife ” Dad said and I fought the urge to roll my eyes.

” Imani are you with a pin or something ? I know you always walk with those ,I need to fix my dress ” Zuri said and I chuckled.

” Sure sis ” I said and opened my bag to get it out .

As if the universe is against me , my bag slipped off my hand pouring away all it’s content .

” Sorry ” I muttered under my breath in embarrassment as they Chuckled.

” Why do you have your Boss’s business card ? Om asked and I froze .

” What ? I asked taking it from his grasp as all their attention fell on me .

” Huh it’s normal for all the Employees to have his business card ” I lied immediately and mom chuckled in amusement.

Zuri wiggled her eyebrows at me suspiciously and I avoided eye contact the entire time .

” So what did she say ? Pierre asked as I ate from his bag of chips .

” You eat a lot of junk food Schmitt” i said and he raised his eyebrows.

” I hit the gym just on time so trust me I’m in good shape ,besides I burn a lot of fat during Se#x ” he said and I pinched the bridge of my nose .

” I don’t need the details ” I said and sat down on the sofa .

My brain was fvcking hot after the rejection from Imani this afternoon .

I’ve never had a tough time with women ,I mean it’s always the other way around .

” How’s Adonis ? I asked and he chuckled.

” I haven’t heard from him ,I guess it’s one of those days when he’s Locked himself all night to work ” He said and I gave a nod.

” How did it go ? He asked smirking.

” She said no ” I said and he blinked his eyes at me then burst into laughter.

” Why won’t she say no man ? I’m pretty sure you just went ahead and told her ” I want you to be my fake girlfriend ” He said faking my voice .

” I don’t sound like that ” I said immediately.

” Let me be the judge of that my friend” he said smiling.

” I don’t know what to do ,I even offered her money yet she said no ” I said calmly .

” You are her Boss man and it is totally Weired for a man of your status to ask her to fake being your girlfriend when you can have anyone in the world ” he explained.

” Maybe she thinks I’m mad ” I said and sighed softly.

” You are an intimidating man ,try asking for her help politely this time around and just maybe she might agree ” he explained.

” I was polite ,you know me ” I said and he laughed.

” Enough to know you suck at romance ” He said and I sighed.

” Maybe she’s not single ,who knows she might have a boyfriend or something” I said suddenly thinking of the possibility.

” Call up your man ,let him give you a background check on her ,just so you can be on a safer side ” he adviced.

” Thanks man ,I will get back to you ” i said and he laughed.

” Go get a girl man , I’m sleepy” he said running his fingers in his curly hair .

” Silly ” I said with a chuckle.

Immediately I dropped the call ,I sent a text to my private investigator Brandon to get a background check on her .

” Imani ” I muttered under my breath as my mind went back to how she poured coffee on me , and the way she fell butts first on the ground today .

She’s so different and crazy .My mind went back to how her dress hugged her curves .

She had a really attractive body and a face to match .

I ran my fingers in my hair to stop my line of sinful thoughts ..

For a year plus I have never thought a woman it has always been work .

It’s still work ” I muttered under my breath as my mind went back to her behind ,I rubbed his face immediately .

” I should go to bed ”

I woke up the next morning with a file on my email about Imani lerato.

She’s very much single .

I’m not gonna give up without making her my fake girlfriend .

I want her in this and anything I want I always get .
