The Female Soldier, Episode 9

"Did we do anything last night? I feel somehow down there. What happened? I think I'm messed up." The female soldier said when she woke up on the morning of what is supposed to be her wedding day. But she wasn't at her wedding venue. Instead, she was in Leke's bed, feeling drowsy, weak and mentally worn out.

"Yes, we did something. We ate the apple and I don't want us to stop. It felt special." Leke said. He woke up before the female soldier. He had prepared a light breakfast consisting of fried plantain, eggs and a cup of tea for her. She loved the fact that she was being pampered by Leke, but the whole thing still felt odd.

"What do you mean you don't want us to stop? Please don't say that again. It doesn't feel right even if it felt good. It felt good for me too, by it is not a good thing for us to be proud of." The female soldier said as she munched the plantain and fried eggs with relish. She was quick with the breakfast, took her bath and said goodbye to Leke who confessed how much he was going to miss her.

"Wait, are you feeling something for me? What happened last night was a mistake. It shouldn't have happened at all. Why are you saying you will miss me as if we are dating? You know I'm in love with Acho and even though we are going through a rough patch, I'm sure he is going to come back to his senses soon." The female soldier said as she picked up her handbag and opened the door to leave.

"Really? You think Acho is going to come back to his senses? He has dumped you. When are you going to realize that he has walked away? If he didn't dump you, the two of you should be at the marriage registry right now saying you wedding vows. But here you are in my room where you slept last night to clear your head. You have been dumped, but the good news is that there are some of us who can't wait to pick and clean you up because as far as I'm concerned, you are a pieces of precious gold." Leke said with a catchy smile on his face. He was indirectly shooting his shot and the female soldier knew this.

"Wait, so you have been crushing on me all these while? It looks like you were actually waiting for me to break up with Acho so that you can quickly take his place in my heart. Were you interested in me all these years?" The female soldier asked.

"Yes! I don't tell lies. I wasn't praying for you to be dumped, but I know you deserve better. Now that the opportunity has popped up for me to fill the vacuum in your heart, I can't waste it. If you give me the chance, you won't regret it." Leke said as he tried to take the female soldier's hand, but she resisted the attempt.

"I have to go right now. We will talk about this some other times, but for now, I have an unfinished business to attend to." The female soldier said.

"Where are you going? Don't you think you should be opening up to your friends more? Keeping so much secret all the time could be dangerous. What unfinished business do you want to attend to?" Leke asked.

"It's none of your business. I can handle it alone." The female soldier said jovially with a smile as she stormed off the apartment and flagged a taxi by the roadside. The taxi took her to the house of the General's side chick. Once she go there, she knocked at the door and the General's side chick opened the door. She had her son in her arms. She froze as soon as she saw the female soldier. She was scared that she had come to kidnap her the second time.

"Please, I have not told anyone anything. I have kept my mouth shut as you instructed me. Even the General has not visited me and I promise not to report you to the police. Please, just allow me and my son to rest." The side chick said as she withdrew into her shells. She was shaking as she was talking to the female soldier.

"I'm not here to harm you and I'm not going to kidnap you again. As a matter of fact, I'm actually here to appologise you. What I did was completely wrong. I shouldn't have put you and your son through that horrible experience. Please, find a place in your heart and forgive me. I'm not a bad person. It was the General who told me to do it. I did not act on my own accord. I was acting based on his instructions. You know he is my boss and superior officer and I must always do as he say." The female soldier said. She knew she was lying, but that was deliberate because she was actually there to set the General up. She had thought of all the ways he could carry out a revenge against the General, but she concluded that it was too dangerous for her to do it herself. She has decided to use the side chick to hit the General below the belt.

"And he has said by tomorrow., he is going to send another soldier to kidnap you and your baby. I refused to do it this time around. This is why have come to warn you. You have to be ready to defend yourself. If you don't get rid of him, he will continue to torment you. As a matter of fact, he is going to visit you this night because I heard him talking about it when I visited his office yesterday. You must be ready to defend yourself, if not you are not safe." The female soldier said with a conspiratorial facial expression.

"That wicked fool. So he was the one who paid you to do the dirty job? I will show him 'shege'. But how am I going to defend myself when I don't have any weapon? And I'm just a woman. "The side chick said.

"That is why have brought you this gift. Make sure you use it well. As soon as you open the door for the General, pull the trigger. If you don't do that, he will ask his men to continue kidnapping you." The female soldier said as she handed a small gun to the side chick. She taught her how to use it and made her believe taught her how to use it and made her believe she was in real danger in the hands of the General.

"I will do anything to protect my baby. This time around, I'm ready to defend myself. Thank you very much." The side chick said. She never knew that the female soldier was just using her to execute her revenge.

The female soldier said her goodbyes to the side chick and took her leave. The side chick brought a chair and sat close to the door with the gun in her hand as she waited for the arrival of the General.
