Weapons Of Choice

Shayne

I wanted to laugh, desperately. But due to the kindness of my heart, I decided against it.

For the past half hour, Keith had been teaching Olivia the basics of hand-to-hand combat.

Keith was a black belt god. He'd mastered every martial art that I could think of and had trained every Raven Angel from the moment of recruitment.

He'd trained me in the art of MMA and Krav Maga while Freya and Laura managed to master nearly every skill he'd thrown at them.

They could easily kick my ass if they tried.

Now I could see on Keith's face that he'd never come across a more uncoachable student. His lips pursed in an attempt to keep his laughter at bay.

It wasn't that Olivia failed to follow his instructions, which were the basic MMA defense skills, in fact she copied the exact stances he showed her.

The matter of the fact was that she was simply too afraid.

Every single time Keith attempted to—without intent to cause damage of course—attack her defense, she would jump out of his reach or duck an oncoming hit.

"I suck, just say it," she said with an exasperated sigh, dropping her hands to her shapely waist.

My eyes did another slide down her opulent body. Nothing could be done about the torture she'd been doing to me ever since she stepped through those steel doors.

I was inexplicably pleased that she hadn't bothered to hide the excellent teethwork covering her neck.

"Don't worry about it, you'll have the courage to defend yourself. It just takes some time," Keith assured her with an encouraging grin.

Blue eyes and flowing blonde hair, it was easy to see Keith's good looks. But to my pleasure, I hadn't seen not one blushful look sent his way. On the contrary, his student had the most adorable laser-focused look on her face.

Maybe she didn't dig the whole man-bun situation that was going on.

Or maybe she didn't dig men all together.

No. Christina had once told me about how much she'd hated Olivia's boyfriend then.

She was definitely into guys. But I'd also never seen her send a single sideways glance towards any girl or woman.

I supposed it was a topic that we were yet to discuss.

"Did it also take some time knowing how to slap people across the face?" I asked from my spot in the corner of the ring.

Olivia rolled her eyes and laughed as she turned to me. "You're never going to let me live this down, are you?"

I shook my head. "Not until my poor cheek forgets the trauma its been through."

"Well, it better suck it up and move on. Or does it still need my kisses?" She gave me a nasty little smile and as if she knew exactly what she was doing to me, she bit her bottom lip and ran her gaze down my body.

Among all the women I'd been through, her look was the only one that could fuel my desire in a second.

"Not anymore, but it's willing to give up those kisses to other parts of me."

As soon as the words came out my mouth, the heavy implication of them sank in the air. But I didn't mean for it to come out like that. We both knew I wasn't keen on letting her touch me, let alone kiss certain parts of me.

Plus, it was obvious Keith was uncomfortable.

The balm to my heart must have read my mind. She groaned in exasperation. "Oh my gawd! You're so corny. Keith, would you mind taking her off my hands? Even just for the week."

Keith laughed. "Not a chance, little lady. I'm not the boss's type."

His words were funny enough to force a chuckle out of me and dissipate the tension in the air.

But my brain also jotted down another thing Olivia and I had to talk about.

Another half-hour later, we'd all agreed on continuing Olivia's training session another time.

"Is this what you meant when you said you wanted me to protect myself?"

I dropped my gaze to the beauty beside me as we stepped out of the gym and proceeded down the hallway. I nodded, watching her hold back the questions that were on the tip of her tongue.

"W-why?" she managed to say, her eyes directed straight ahead.

"Because I want you ready the moment I might not be around and danger presents itself."

"I'm not some fragile thing that always needs protecting, Shayne." Her tone switched up so fast it stunned us both.

I was able to excuse the retort. "Well, you'll have to prove that to me, soon. Or else I'll be forced to lock you up rather than allow you to earn the proper tools to defend yourself."

"Oh, I'll show you, baby," she said, following me through the doors of the shooting range.

🍀

Man, did she show me.

Hand-to-hand might not have been her thing, but bullets sure we're

At first, she'd been skeptical about holding a gun, but approximately six minutes in, she was murdering the bulls eye.

Like the creep I continued to be, I watched her every move as she fired the bullets from the handgun I'd given her.

Her ass managed to jiggle every time she shot, the tight pants doing nothing to obstruct the soft and round fullness.

My mouth salivated, remembering the taste of her just a few hours ago.

I eyed the fully occupied shooting booths on either side of her and lifted my wrist.

The time on my watch read 12:03. We were supposed to meet Lucile Crawford in forty-two minutes.

Surely he wouldn't mind us being ten, maybe fifteen minutes late.

Unfortunately, the rational part of my brain made me think twice. Our meeting was way more important than my raging hormones, however justified they were.

I pushed myself off the wall a few feet away from where she stood and walked up to her shooting booth.

As she reloaded, I pressed the green button on the wall of her booth and watched her target slide towards us.

"Don't worry, I'm sure your ego can withstand a little competition," she said, pushing the earmuffs down to her neck. She tilted her head to me and gave me a proud little smirk.

I scoffed. "Competition my ass." I couldn't help lowering my head to place a quick peck on her pouty lips. "Was it even legal for your dad to teach you how to shoot?" I said this as we studied the cardboard target when it stopped in front of us.

Bullets had penetrated right around and on the bullseye.

If I'd known there could be a woman who could be sexy as hell and still have the eye of a falcon, I wouldn't have bothered crushing on Lara Croft in my teen years. Olivia sure could shoot.

"I don't think so." I remembered that her dad was a sensitive topic for her when she changed the subject. "Can you teach me that thing that you did? When you grabbed your gun out of my hands?"

I pursed my lips, bothered that we hadn't yet solved her issue. "Another time, we've got some matters to attend to. We'll continue your training tomorrow."

She turned her head to me again. "Sure, just when I pose as a threat to your ego, you decide to kill all the fun."

Once again, I failed to resist kissing her lips. Pulling away was harder this time. "C'mon."

"Fine." She put away the gun and ear muffs and slipped her small hand into mine.

We left the shooting range and went down the hallway to the lift.

"Woah, an elevator. Cool. When did you get this place anyway?"

"I didn't get it, it's been home ever since I could remember."

She nodded, lots of questions still in her eyes, but I watched her brush them all away. She was trying not to upset me but at this point, I was past keeping anything from her.

When I'd gotten arrested, the deepest parts of my mind were in a panic. I was mortified that I wasn't going to see Olivia again, and the last thing I wanted between us were tons of unanswered questions.

The elevator opened and we stepped in. As soon as the doors closed, I opened my mouth to express my current thoughts.

Only, I wasn't prepared to be pushed against the wall.

Her eyes were dark with desire. "You're such a tease, Shayne West. Do you have any idea how torturous your little kisses are? It took a great deal slutting down my hormones. We don't want people talking, now do we?"

That reminded me—

She pressed a finger to my lips when I tried to speak. "Shhh."

She contiued to slide her finger down my chin, my neck, my chest, my abs and stopped at the waistband of my boxers.

By now, my breathing had turned desperate. "Olivia..." I warned.

To my relief, and shockingly my disappointment, her finger left my skin. "Don't worry. I was simply testing the waters."

Without warning, she grabbed my shoulders and jumped. I only had a fraction of a second to catch her and wrap her legs around me.

Her fingers dug into my hair as she smashed her mouth onto mine. We both moaned, our insatiable hunger for each other even more prominent now.

I turned and slammed her back into the wall, the impact causing her to groan into my mouth.

"That hurt, baby," she whispered, the endearment sounding way sexier from her mouth.

"I'm sorry." I slid my hands to her ass and squeezed. "You make me crazy sometimes." My lips kissed their way down her neck, sucking harshly at a spot that had her scraping her nails down my back.

The sound of a throat clearing had us pulling away, so fast that she would have fallen to the floor if I hadn't held her to me.

We both turned to see the elevator doors wide open with Drew standing behind them.

He was amused. "Way to ruin my afternoon, guys."

"Sorry," Olivia said, forcing my hands off of her and dropping her feet to the ground. She was already leaving the elevator and rushing past Drew.

I ignored him and followed her only to have him grip my forearm and hold me back.

Daggers shot out of my eyes as I glared between his face and his hand. He immediately let me go.

"Something you wanna say, Drew?" I said, noting the poorly hidden infuriation in his eyes.

He opened his mouth and changed his mind, shaking his head instead and walking into the elevator.

"Yeah, that's what I thought," I said, turning and walking away.

Ten minutes later, I was fresh and dressed, waiting for Olivia to finish her shower.

Lucile called. "Are you on your way? We don't have much time."

I pursed my lips. "We'll be there soon. Is she with you?"

"Yes, I just picked her up. Are you sure your girl's on board with this. You told me they weren't on good terms."

"She'll be on board."

I wasn't planning on telling Olivia who we were meeting or why, she would easily protest. But the fact was we needed her for this to work, no matter how angry she might get with me.

I cut the call and stood from the bed, pacing and waiting for Olivia. Seriously, how long did it take to get ready?

I walked to the closet and was surprised to find her standing, merely standing with her eyes as wide as saucers.

It was what she was standing in front of that had me briefly shutting my eyes.

In the open drawer below her was where I kept my boys, my weapons of choice, my pussy-pleasers.

The gist is clear, she'd found where I thought I'd locked up the strap-ons.

"What are you doing?"

At the sound of my voice, she jolted and slammed the drawer shut, forgetting her fingers were still holding onto the edge.

Her scream could very well have deafened me.
