Where It Hurts

Evan's POV

"I'm going upstairs to get Aria," I told my mother.

"I'll be waiting right here," Mom replied before sitting on the couch I had slept on for the night.

I climbed the stairs while my head floated to another dimension. My memories were only of putting Jasmine and Jevan out the house. The way she cried and pleaded to me. The way she looked at me when she tore up the check. The way Jevan looked at me when he was out the door in his mother's arms. The way her last words hurt me: "Go to hell Evan Hollen."

It was haunting and it was painful. My heart squeezed against my chest as if it wanted to break free. I couldn't handle all of the heaviness. I needed to fix this and fast.

"Aria, we have to leave right now," I said as I entered the bedroom.

She was sitting at the dressing table applying her makeup and already dressed.

"What's going on?"

"Mom is downstairs. She did a DNA test and the results stated that she's the grandmother of Jevan; therefore, I have to be the dad. That DNA center fucked up everything!"

Aria's lipstick fell from her hand and she looked like she had seen a ghost.

"I'm going down to the DNA center and get to the bottom of this," I added as I headed for my bathroom.

"Evan, baby, my mom just called. I'm going to take my car and go see her. She's not in the best of health." Aria said while I was in the shower.

"Okay. I'll see you soon?"

"Sure. Bye."

"Bye."

Aria Goode POV

"Get my mother's private plane ready. We're taking a little trip to L.A," I told my mother's private pilot over the phone.

I stepped on the accelerator to the airport. Thank goodness I had rich parents.

Now, Jasmine Blackman, I'm turning my attention to you.

Evan's POV

I dressed quickly and ran downstairs. Mom and I got into my car and drove to the DNA center where I had conducted the first DNA test.

"Melani Thompson!" I shouted as I pushed through the door.

She was standing behind her desk with a bottle of water up to her lips. She almost chocked when she saw me.

"Mr. Hol--"

I slammed the DNA result on the desk along with my mother's. "Explain this shit to me!"

"Mr. Hollen, it wasn't me. You'll have to talk with Dr. Emillia Francis. She's the lab physician," she quickly said with a frantic voice. "Right this way."

She took us through a private room after pushing through a pair of doors. Another woman stood behind a much larger desk, wearing a white lab coat and gloves.

"What are you doing here? Melani, what's the meaning of this?"

"We'll be asking the questions here!" Mom shouted at her.

"This is Mr. Hollen, and his mother," Melani said and handed her the two envelopes.

Dr. Francis opened them, looked at the documents inside, and attempted to run past us through the door.

Mom quickly and grabbed her by the hair before slamming her against the wall.

"She paid me to do it and promised to take me on tour," Dr. Francis cried.

"WHO?" I asked, stepping closer to her, blood boiling and veins popping. The voices in my head were screaming at me to hurt her.

"Aria. Aria Goode."

"WHAT?!" I couldn't believe what I heard. Everything seemed to stop around me, like a sudden hit and dead silence.

Mom released her and she scrunched against the wall with fear and intimidation.

"I'll explain," she said, wiping her eyes and gathering up herself.

"I'm waiting." I was silently praying to relax the inner demons.

"The following day, after you came and gave the DNA samples, Aria Goode stopped by. She gave me a total of a million dollars in cold cash and she said it's all mine if I falsified your DNA test to make it look like the kid isn't yours.

"I honestly didn't want to do it, but when I saw all that cash... And I've been having financial problems lately, I just couldn't resist. I'm really really sorry, Mr. Hollen. I'm really sorry."

Tears began to pour from her eyes.

"You're sorry?" I asked rhetorically with a laugh. It was a habit that came on when I tried to control myself. "You're sorry?" I repeated; I never repeated myself. "YOUR ASS COST ME MY SON! MY SON! AND YOU'RE GOING TO SAY YOU'RE SORRY!?"

Mom literally pushed her out of the way and out of the room when I began throwing things all over the place like a mad man.

"Evan, calm down!" Mom yelled at me.

If Mom hadn't been there, that woman would have been the first woman I laid my hands on.

One Million Dollars? And a Tour? Did I hear her correctly?

ARIA HAD ME MESSED UP!

I got back into my car and called my father.

"I need you to find Jasmine," I said.

"How am I supposed to do that?"

"Use your connections, your people, hackers, IT pros, I don't care if you have to use the Russians as well. Just, please, find her!"

"Yes sir," he answered.

I dropped Mom off and made my way to out family's private airstrip.

Jasmine's POV

L.A. was amazing. It was a total change of scenery and atmosphere. I had already settled down at an apartment complex with my son right there with me. All of his items, along with some of mine, were shipped to my new address. Thank you, Zenia.

STORY CONTINUES BELOW

I hated travelling with Jevan at such a young age, but I needed to do what I needed to do. I needed a fresh start and a clean slate and by all means; I was doing just that.

It was Thursday and 5:30 p.m. and Jevan I were lying in bed. He was being fussy when he was in the crib so I set him down on the bed beside me. I played with his tiny hands and made funny faces at him, just like what I saw Emma doing. He gave me the sweetest smiles and laughter.

I love him so much. He is such a sweet baby.

A knock came on the door. I had been expecting the manager to come by and drop off my spare set of keys.

I lifted Jevan up and placed him back into the crib, hoping he wouldn't get fussy and start crying before I collected the keys.

I went towards the door. I looked into the peephole but I saw the top of the woman's head.

"Short much?" I said to myself as I unlocked the door and opened it slightly.

The woman pushed the door right in and walked into my apartment. "Did you miss me?" she asked with a smirk.

Aria-fricking-Goode was in my new apartment.

"What are you doing here? How did you know where I was?"

"It's a little something called 'keeping track'," she answered, showing me a picture in her phone with Jevan and I coming home from the supermarket.

It was from two days ago. I went to the store across the street to get him some baby supplies and some feminine products for myself.

"Get out of my apartment!" I semi shouted.

"Not before I do what I came here to do! Where's the little bastard?"

She had to be crazy. She was in my new apartment calling my child names, as if Evan was here to save her ass this time around.

I approached her quickly, to smack the hell out of her, but quickly stepped back when she pulled out a gun.

"I didn't travel almost three thousand miles just to say hello." She lifted the gun up to my face and snatched the cellphone from my back pocket.

My heart began to race and all I was thinking about was my little bundle of joy in the other room.

"Go get HIM!" she shouted when he began crying like he sensed the danger we were in.

Aria had a gun pointed at me in my apartment and I was all alone with my son.

"What are you going to do?" I asked her as I held Jevan very tightly in my arms.

She pushed me backwards and my butt hit the surface of a chair. "Allow me to explain this to you. At least you deserve an explanation, right?

"All this shit could of been avoided if Michael had done what he was supposed to DO!" Her last word boomed out.

Jevan flinched in my arms.

"Michael?" I was puzzled as to what connection Michael and Aria had together.

"Yes. My former back-up singer slash ex-boyfriend, who also worked at the same restaurant with you. The one who attacked you and was supposed to make you suffer from a miscarriage. It's quite funny how an ex would do anything you say just in hopes of getting you back. I let him stalk you, find out where you lived and, at the perfect opportunity, he attacked you."

Of course! Michael. That son of a bitch.

After he left the band, he started working at the restaurant; but I had no idea she was screwing him. How had I missed that?

Michael and I worked together but I hated him. He was a creep and always looked at me like he was raping me with his eyes. He was the only person who made me so uncomfortable while I worked there.

"So, when the plan failed, it backfired on me because Evan moved your stupid ass back into the mansion. I couldn't get to you; the maids and chefs were always around, and the security guards were always up our ass too much. So I waited and came up with another plan.

"I paid good money for that false DNA test, and when Evan threw you out, along with that little monkey," she pointed the weapon at Jevan, "I was so satisfied. Mission accomplished!

"But that bitch of a mother just had to interfere and get a new DNA test done. So, once again, I'm screwed; and Evan already knows the truth, and I know he's going to sink me, but, before he does that, I'm here to get my satisfaction once and for all!"

She took the gun off safety and her fingers gripped around the trigger.

"I'm going to hit you and Evan where it hurts the most."

My hold on my baby tightened even more and we both were in tears.

I knew what she meant by "where it hurts the most".

She was going to kill our child.
