Hope and Maddy's ... Flirting By Text and She Didn't Say A Word

Hope’s P.O.V

“Damn it!” I shrieked when I saw that I had picked up the wrong colored pencil, and didn’t realize it until it was too late.

“What’s wrong?” Savvy asked. I closed my notebook and shook my head.

“Nothing.” Once I said that, my cell phone made a ding noise, which meant I got a new text. I slowly reached for my cell that was on Savvy’s nightstand. I figured it was probably my overbearing, mom. When I looked at the screen I saw I'd got a text from a number I’d never seen before. I opened the text.

Tom: You’re beautiful, couldn’t last another second without telling you.

Me: Thank You ... ???

Tom: No problem, just thought you should know why I can't get you out of my head.

I blushed like a little school girl, which I knew I technically was, but that was beside the point. I heard whispers and I glanced up to see Maddy and Savvy talking, but they were staring right at me.

“What?” I asked. Savvy grinned.

“You’re texting a guy, aren’t you?” I could feel my cheeks grow redder and a smile grow bigger and bigger on my face. I was trying to hide it, yet I was so blushing, which gave away the obvious.

“Maybe.” I ever so slightly gave into their looks of wonder. Maddy laughed, and looked at me with happiness.

“Finally, you get a guy! Is it Tom?” Maddy asked me. I wanted to jump up and scream ‘yes!’ I kept my composure.

“Maybe.” I replied.

“What did he say?” Savvy questioned as she dipped an Oreo in yellow cheese dip.

“What the hell are you eating?” I asked her.

“Maddy dared me to try it. I wasn't going to say no.” Savvy stated. I couldn’t help but shake my head and smile when Savvy took one bite and spit it out. “It tastes like shit!” She cried out, we all laughed. Just then Kay walked in the room with a forced smile. I saw she had been crying, I wanted to ask why … but I had a feeling she wouldn’t tell me.

“What taste like shit?” Kay asked sitting down on the floor next to Maddy and Savvy.

“This.” Savvy pointed to the half eaten Oreo that was dripping with yellow cheese dip.

“Why did you eat it?” Kay questioned.

“Maddy dared me.” All of a sudden Kay started laughing.

“Don’t you think we have all learned our lesson on playing I Dare You?” Kay asked, I giggle. In a way she was right, if we didn’t take that dare, then things might have been different … Whether the difference would have been good or bad … I don’t know …

“I don’t regret the dare,” Maddy said. “Actually, I’m glad I did it …” She muttered.

“Why?” I asked her as I bent down and grabbed an Oreo. Maddy sighed and dipped a potato chip in the salsa.

“ … I don’t know … I just don’t regret it.” She simply stated and then bit into her chip. We all nodded knowing that some things were just hard to explain, especially when it comes to feelings.

“I don’t regret it either.” We were all shocked when Savvy said that. Here I sat, thinking that she would have totally regretted doing the dare. “Because, if I didn’t do it, I honestly believe Allen and I wouldn’t have gotten together … Even if it was for only an hour.” She chuckled. “But, I was thinking,” Everyone sighed dramatically when Savvy said that. It’s something we tended to do whenever she said what she was thinking. “Let’s all skip school tomorrow.” I rolled my eyes.

“We can’t skip school! We have exams next week-“

“Nerd.” Savvy said cutting me off.

“Says the one with the good grades.” I added. Savvy might be doing good, but my grades lately seemed to be slipping. Oh, how my mom would kill me if she found out. My dad didn’t really care as long as I wasn't making F’s. Currently I think I had D’s that were so close to being F’s.

“I will make you a deal, skip school and with us, and I’ll do your homework for a week.” Egged Savvy. Man that was tempting.

“I can’t skip school. Today my mom thought I was skipping and grounded me.” Kay blurted out.

“How are you here then if you are grounded?” Maddy asked.

“I was able to lie to my mom. By the way, Savvy your grandmother’s dying.” Savvy spit out the red punch juice that was in her mouth once Kay said that.

“What?” Savvy looked at Kay with a shocked look. “Are your ‘feelings’ telling you that?” Savvy whispered. Kay erupted in laughs.

“No, that was the lie I told my mom.” We all laughed because Savvy thought Kay was having one of her feelings. And as we all knew, when Kay felt like something was going to happen, it did. My prime example, Savvy and Allen, Kay had told me she felt they wouldn't last... Oh, how right she was. Then I remembered her talking about getting Vinny and Savvy together ... Hummm, I think I might join her on that.

My cell phone made a ding noise, again. Everyone went quiet and looked at me. I shyly smiled and pulled out my phone, eagerly wondering if it was Tom, that texted me.

Tom: You know you’re sea green eyes remind me of … the sea.

Me: Wow, really? Sea green reminds you of the sea … I can only wonder why, lol.

“So … Who are texting? I know it’s a guy, by the sparkle in your eye …” Kay said. “Who is it?”

“I know exactly who it is.” Maddy said, giving me a smirk.

“Me two!” Savvy said.

“I wish I could say me three, but – Oh wait, I know who it is!” Kay said with a grin.

“Hope and Tom.” Savvy began singing.

“Sitting in a tree.” Maddy followed along.

“K-I-S-S-I-N-G!” Kay finished. I shook my head as the kept singing the song, as my stomach did flip flops.

“So, have you told him you liked him?” Maddy asked me. I shook my head ‘no’.

“She doesn’t have to, I already told Tom that Hope liked him.” Savvy stated. I gasped and stood up, anger boiling inside of me.

“You did what?” Anger was clear in my voice.

“I told him today, at school. He actually seemed shocked. Oh, and I gave him the Savvy talk, too.”

“The Savvy talk?” Maddy questioned.

“You know the whole, if you screw over my friend you can kiss the rest of your life goodbye-“ I stopped Savvy.

“I can’t believe you did that. No wonder he's text flirting with me! Omg! Savvy! How could you?!” I yelled. She one th other hand looked as calm as ever.

“Oh, come on, I just stirred the pot of love! He likes you! If he didn’t, then he won’t be texting you after I told him that you liked him. Am I right or am I wrong?” Savvy asked. Now that I thought about it, she was right. If she told Tom that I liked him and he was still texting me, I guess that meant he liked me back.

A guy likes me!

A guy actually likes me!

I started jumping up and down. With a sudden movement, I bent down and hugged Savvy.

“You are the best!”

“I know, I know, just don’t tell the others that I’m your number one best friend. I won’t want to get glares.” Savvy said, but Maddy and Kay heard her and did in fact give her glares.

“What should I do?” I asked them.

“I think you know what you should do.” Savvy said. I nodded. She was right, I knew exactly what to do.

Maddy’s P.O.V

I watched as Hope nervously texted Tom. She was going to ask Tom if he wanted to go out with her sometime. I leaned over towards Savvy.

“You never told Tom that Hope liked him, did you?” I whispered, Savvy turned to me and smiled.

"Now, what would give you that idea?" I nodded knowing I was right ...
