Kay’s P.O.V

“My brother, wants to know what we want from the store.” Maddy asked as she entered Savvy’s room with a phone clutched to her ear. I sighed and thought of what I wanted.

“I want some Dark Chocolate M&M’s … I think Savvy here will want a gallon of chocolate ice cream.” Savvy’s head bobbed in agreeance to Hope’s ice cream idea.

“Okay, Kay wa-“ Maddy stopped talking and was listening to the other line. “Yes, Kay is here, along with my other friends … Why?” Maddy asked the person on the phone. “Whatever … Kay? What do you want?” I become confused as to why the her brother –

I bet she is talking to Christopher … Shit! He knows I'm here! Double shit, he'll have to come here to drop off the food!

“I-I-I don’t want anything.” I lied and looked at the floor. Tears threaten to come out of my eyes. I knew I couldn’t cry in front of Maddy or Hope, who knew nothing about my past with Christopher.

"Okay ... Well, Christopher, just get the M&Ms, Dr. Pepper, ice cream, and any other junk food that you see." Maddy stated to Christopher on the phone. "Ladies, what shall we do?" Maddy asked as she hung on the phone.

"Cry," Savvy suggested as she sat up in bed. I noticed that her eyes were red and puffy. I really felt like walking my skinny ass over to Allen’s house, and giving him a piece of my mind. To hurt one of my friends like that meant war. Oh, I’m going to fight back … With Vinny as my weapon. Soon, Savvy will realize that Allen was a waste, and Vinny was a good guy.

"We're not crying anymore!" Maddy said, with a chipper voice.

"Then, what are we going to do?" Hope asked as she looked up from the notepad she was drawing in.

"Well," Maddy walked over to the bed and grabbed a pillow. "I can think of a few things." With that Maddy threw the pillow at Savvy.

"You bee-itch! How dare you hit a broken-hearted girl?!" Savvy said and then stood up on her bed, gripping a pillow. "You. Don't. Hit. A. Sad. Savvy." Savvy said hitting Maddy with ever word. Everyone erupted in giggles when Hope got up and wacked Savvy with a pillow from behind. I immediately shook my head and thought a pillow fight was so … middle school, but who gave a crap? I snatched a pillow from Maddy’s hands, and beat her with it. She shrieked and backed away. I saw in the corner of my eye, Hope. She was coming at me; I turned around and smacked her right dead in her face. Soon, we were all running and jumping everywhere, dodging hits and trying to strike an unexpecting victim.

I was making a move towards Maddy, when I saw something silver fly pass my face. I looked over and saw Savvy holding a bag of Hersey Kisses.

“Oh, no!” Hope yelled, and snatched the Hersey Kiss that fell after Savvy’s bad aim at my face. “It’s on!” Hope tossed the Hersey Kiss at Savvy who ducked in the nick of time.

“Kiss fight!” I shouted and soon we were throwing Hersey Kisses at each other. I had to admit they hurt when they hit you, but we were having too much fun to care.

I watched Savvy aim at me. I bent down right as it came flying through the air towards me. I stood back up and threw one at her, she moved away, and instead of hitting her, I hit the person who just opened the bedroom door … Christopher.

“Ouch.” He said as he came in hand full of grocery bags. He put the bags on Savvy’s desk, turned and looked at us. His blue eyes locked in with mine. I could feel all my old feelings resurface ... Savvy coughed, clearly trying to snap me out of my staring. I quickly looked away, cheeks red. One look and I felt like I should forgive him … But he hasn’t asked to be forgiven and was what he did forgivable?

“Thank you Chris for bringing the food, you’re a life saver.” Maddy said, breaking a silence I hadn’t realized fell over the room.

“Yeah, no problem. If any of y’all need anything, at any time, call me?” He said to everyone, but I knew his eyes where looking straight at me.

“Okay, will do. But, right now none of us need you, so, please, leave.” Maddy said.

“Okie dokie.” He turned and walked away. I stood there for a second before knowing what I need to do.

“I will be back, I have to go to the restroom.” I lied. I walked out of Savvy’s room and took off to the front door. I caught up to Christopher.

“Chris.” I said using his nickname. He immediately stopped and turned to face me.

“Kay.” Him saying my name made a shiver go down my spine.

“Listen, I know you don’t want anything to do with me … You made that clear with the letter you gave me …” Slowly tears fell down my face. I could remember it like it was yesterday.

As my show reached the last five minutes, I heard the doorbell ring. Thinking my mom or dad would get it, I continued watching my show.

Two minutes later, and the doorbell being rang over and over, I got up. Before, opening the door and I saw a note on hall table.

Dear Kay

We will be out all night, it’s our anniversary.

Mom and Dad

Lovely, parents left without telling me. I opened the door, and there stood Christopher.

“Hey, baby.” He said with a smile. I grinned back and grabbed him by his shirt collar. When he was in the house, I closed the door. “Where are your parents?” He asked.

“They are out for the night, it’s their anniversary.” I admitted. He nodded and snaked an arm around me.

“So, my baby is alone for the night with nothing to do … no entertainment.” He stated looking at me. I smiled knowing what he was getting at. His lips met mine with passion and eagerness. I wrapped my hands around his neck and pulled him down more to deepen the kiss. He obeyed and soon, I gave him the one thing I swore I would never give to a man unless he was my husband. Yet, a part of me was thinking after I had sex with him, he would be mine … forever.

Sun shined through my curtains. I rolled over with a smile, thinking of last night. I thought I would roll right into Christopher, but instead I rolled right into a note. I sat up, holding the blankets to my naked body. I looked over the letter.

Dear Kay,

I thought I would let you know that last night will never happen again. I’m leaving to go study abroad and then go to UCLA, a college in Los Angles. Don’t wait by the phone, for I won’t call. Don’t expect to hear from me again, because that is the way I want it, never to see or speak to you again. I’m sorry, but this is how it has to be.

“Kay, I’m so sorry for what I did to you. I thought it would be for the best.” I looked at him.

“For the best? What on earth do you mean for the best? You don’t even know what you did! You left me … you left us.” I whispered.

“Us?” I silently cursed at myself, why did I say that out loud?

“… I found out three weeks later I was pregnant … I lost the baby the day before I planned on telling my parents … Savvy took me to the hospital, no one ever found out, only Savvy knows."

Christopher’s face fell to a frown, and he was staring at the ground. “Kay, you'll never be able to forgive me, will you?” He asked.

“No, I will never forgive ... I'm sorry ...” I whispered.

“I love you, I was so foolish to leave you. I’ve regretted it ever since I left … If you do happen to forgive me … I'll be willing to do anything. I’m to be married, but if you were to forgive me, I would not get married! I love you so much, Kay, you can’t fathom what I would do for you.”

“Why are you marrying a girl you act like you don’t love?” I asked.

“I-I-I don’t know.”

“I think you do.” I said. “You love her …”

“I love you, more.”

“Chris, go be with your fiancée.” I said, I then realized I was truly trying to let go of him, and all the painful memories that haunted me for the years after he left without a word. “ … I will see you at the wedding … You better be wearing a tux.” I laughed through my tears think at how sexy he used to look in tuxes. He chuckled.

“I will still hope that you change your mind …" I smiled at him, but we both knew I would not change my mind.
