I'm Not Naked

Olivia

What was I thinking? This was a bad idea.

I took a step back as Shayne's athletic tall build made my room suddenly seem cramped, despite its wide and airy space.

Her gorgeous hazel eyes flicked from one object to the other, stopping for a moment on the white covers of my bed before jumping back to my face.

"How did—"

"Are you—"

We spoke at the same time, and a blush couldn't help it's way into my cheeks. Needing at least a second to breathe, I walked around her and closed the balcony doors.

I leaned on them and took a deep breath. "I'm sorry, I had no idea my mom's schedule changed. How did you get on the balcony?"

She span towards me, but not before I had the liberty of checking her out.

She was wearing gray sweatpants! I didn't know about other girls, but gray sweatpants looked too good on the perfect body.

"That lady, Linda—she let me jump from her balcony."

My eyes bulged. "You jumped?!"

"Yes." She said it as though it weren't such a big deal.

"Shayne, you could have hurt yourself!"

"Will you lower your voice? You want your mom to bust both our asses?"

"The bedrooms in this apartment are nearly soundproof, she won't hear a thing. What were you thinking?"

"You needed me. How could I turn that down?"

My horror over her daredevil stunt dissolved into helplessness, her words weighing on my shoulders.

I sighed. "Shayne, I was going to call you and tell you not to come, I would have been okay if you agreed." I walked over to the bed and slowly sat as our gazes met. "Thank you for coming."

I watched her as she hesitantly stepped towards me, the soles of her boots barely making a sound. She sat beside me.

A wave of awareness engulfed me when I felt her right arm move around my back.

"Relax, I just want to hold you," she said. Her voice sounded strange.

I let her embrace me, her large hand pressing my head against her shoulder.

She smelled so good. "Could we wait a little before we talk. This feels nice," I whispered, gripping the back of her black henley shirt.

I could hear her smile. "Of course."

For a moment, everything was right and sweet, until I realized if I didn't start talking we would have stayed like that throughout the night.

"Do you ever wonder what it'd be like living on another planet?"

She pulled away, amusement in her eyes. "Sometimes. Why?"

"I'm thinking maybe if I was living on another planet, my life wouldn't be so horrible."

A look of concern showed on her face, before blatant anger took over. "If he touched you again, I swear to God... "

Realizing the assumption she'd made, I lifted my legs onto the bed and bent my knees towards her. I gripped her forearms, vaguely irritated that the sleeves of her shirt didn't allow any skin-to-skin contact.

"He. Didn't. Do. Anything," I said carefully.

She instantly relaxed. "Oh. Then what is it?"

I suddenly became nervous, wondering why on earth I'd bothered Shayne simply because I'd wanted company. But who was I kidding? She was the only company I wanted.

"It's my dad."

"What about him? Is he hurt?"

"No, but he was finally sentenced."

Her brows furrowed. "How long?"

"Fifteen years." My voice broke, and I brutally pushed back tears. I promised myself I wouldn't cry in front of Shayne again. "But I swear, he didn't do it."

The hold I had on her forearms tightened in order to add meaning to my words. I needed her to believe me, simply because she was becoming more and more important to me.

"He didn't do it," she repeated my words, holding my gaze as she spoke. "I have no reason to doubt your words, except I have no idea what he didn't do."

"It's a long story, but I need you to believe me."

A hard nod came my way. "Okay."

"Okay."

When the moment vanished, I realized our position. My hands were gripping her forearms, while her own hands gripped my waist, my knees pressing into her thigh.

Our faces were so close all I had to do was flinch, and our lips would touch.

But to my disappointment she pulled away from me, a movement so abrupt, I found myself falling onto the carpeted floor, hard.

"Ouch!"

"Olivia, fuck! Are you okay?"

She effortlessly picked me up off the floor by my upper arms. She searched my face for any injuries, deep concern etched into her beautiful face.

"I'm fine," I said, still feeling a little woozy from the fall.

But boy was I mad at her... for causing the fall and also rejecting me. Wasn't she the one who'd forced her lips onto mine in her office? Though it had been unexpected and untimely, I'd enjoyed every nanosecond of it.

I pushed her hands away from my head and went to the balcony doors. I opened them and just stood there, my arms folded and my gaze probably showing a hell of an attitude as it stared at the ceiling.

I heard her sexy chuckle, the sound directing right into the lowest part of my belly, before I saw her—from the corner of my eye—approach me.

She went around me and closed the doors.

I felt her come up behind me, her breath caressing my ear. "What you want I can't give you. Not right now, and certainly not here. These walls won't be able to contain your screams." The strangeness I'd heard in her voice was now quite audibly desire.

I swallowed hard, feeling my breasts swell and the apex of my thighs moisten. I had to take a moment to breathe.

Horny and frustrated, I turned to her. "Well, I didn't say we were going to have sex!"

Her sexy desire-filled eyes swept my body. "You don't expect me to keep my hands to myself when you're dressed like this."

Confused by her words, I looked down at myself. How on earth could a big shapeless sweater be attractive? Maybe it was a little bit short, but I was never afraid to show some skin. Besides I was wearing shorts underneath.

I lifted the hem of the sweater to show her the said blue booty shorts—strictly meant for nightwear.

"I'm not naked. See? I'm wearing something underneath."

"Fuck! Are you trying to kill me?" She roughly pushed down the sweater, covering my shorts again. I pouted and she shook her head with a chuckle. "As much as I'd like to see every part of you, I'm not about to get a knife through my throat, the attacker being your mom."

She kissed my forehead, the action making me blush hard and causing my heart to flutter, but also making me slightly mad.

She must have thought I was a little girl who couldn't keep her hormones in check.

But I put my feelings aside as the heated tension in the room dialed down. I wanted Shayne's company, and I was afraid that if I remained alone I'd start panicking.

"You want to watch a movie?"

Her delicious-looking mouth curved into a smirk. "Olivia—"

I read her thoughts in a breath. "I'm not talking about porn, you jerk!"

She laughed heartily and the sound filled me with so much warmth I had to turn away, not trusting my eyes to show the deep feelings I had for her intensify.

I turned on the TV and went to sit right in the middle of the bed, patting the space beside me. "You watch TV standing?"

"You sure you'll be able to resist me?" she retorted.

I rolled my eyes. "Don't worry, I'll keep my hands to myself."

She let out a bark of laughter. "On second thought, we can just throw resistance out the window."

"That's what I thought." I coudn't help my big bright grin.

She took off her shoes and joined me on the bed.

I bit my lower lip when her strong arm wrapped around my waist and pulled me back against her chest, her back leaning against the headboard.

"So what movie are we watching?" she asked.

"Us."

"The horror?"

"Yeah, I heard it's super scary. You've watched it?"

"Yeah, I didn't really like it."

The way she said it had me assuming a part of her personality.

I tilted my head and looked up at her. I couldn't help but grin. "You're scared of horror movies."

A muscle moved in her square jaw. "They're not my favorite thing in the world."

Stumped that such an intimidating person could be afraid of actors splashing red paint all over each other, my heart flattered at knowing something that I was sure not a lot knew. "Awww, I'll protect you."

She rolled her eyes and grabbed the remote from my hand. "Could we just watch the damn movie?"

I bit the inside of my cheek to avoid laughing and looked back at the TV.

An hour into the movie, I was laughing so hard, tears pouring down my cheeks. Shayne had kept on cursing on every gruesome part, even brutally insulting the characters that gave us the most anxiety.

When the movie ended, we voted on watching a more relaxed movie to help Shayne recover from all the horror. Matilda, the movie with the telekinetic girl—a movie I'd never have gotten tired of—is what ended up on the screen.

But somewhere along the movie, we both ended up lying flat on the bed, with my body tucked into her side while her shoulder cushioned my head.

Heated moments with Shayne were unbelievably exciting, but it's moments like these that made my heart feel like bursting with bliss.

Making myself comfortable, I moved closer, my chest pressing into her ribs. A silent curse from her was the last thing I heard before I let sleep consume me.

Check mate.
